    I don't understand why the ship didn't turn around, redock, and get him. I mean he yelled, waved his arms, and even broke into a half-hearted trot for a few steps. What more could he have done?
    Oh yeah, he could have got there on time.

  • @korian73
    @korian73 11 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Usually they PAY their own way to the next port. Cruise Ship Captains give Passengers plenty of leeway in returning to the ship. They advise passengers to get back at least an hour BEFORE departure time. However, if there are people missing when it comes time to leave, they usually give them an extra 30 minutes or so, never more than that - why? They have to get to the next Port on time, and if they are running late, they have to burn more fuel to go faster. Cruise Ship fuel is expensive

    From a Travel Agent,
    If you book any excursion with the cruise line, they must wait for you. If you do anything on your own, the ship can and will leave you behind. You must then find transportation to the next port and rejoin the ship. P.S. waving your arms at the cruise ship does nothing but make for good videos.

    For anyone who is confused as to why the giant ship full of 4,000 other people who somehow managed to get there on time, didn't go back...when is the last time you were late for a flight that had already taken off, and the pilot saw you screaming and cursing, and he turned around, landed, they opened up the door, and waited patiently for you to board even though it was 100% your fault for being late....NEVER! The answer is never.

      James Medlin ... Cruise ships pay docking fees just as planes pay landing fees. The more popular ports have fairly tight schedules, even if returning for a passenger that cannot read a watch was a possibility the costs would be highly prohibitive. Life lessons cost money, time, effort, energy, etc - I hope he learns something positive from this situation. The costs he caused himself to incur would be substantial. He has only himself to blame.

    Feel sorry for this guy? Hell no! The other 1950 passengers made it just because you can't tell time is on you!

    What happened to Him ? did he catch up ? or follow to the next port ! i think it would be possible to get him on a small boat and pass him to the cruise ! who knows what was his reason, it could happen to any of you, once a woman was robbed in Italy, and made it bad to the ship but some other might not, i would like to know what happened to him in the end ?

    He probably was having an anxiety attack and didnt know what to do, ive been on cruises before and this never has happened to me (thank god) but i would be doing the same thing too, and some ships will actually turn around and go back.

    That's funny, now go buy a plane ticket and catch them at the next port. I have experience, from long ago.

    @thefirechaser24 You have to make travel arrangements to meet the ship at the next port. Or the following port. Either way the ship will hold onto your luggage

    I am curious - Has a cruise Liner EVER gone back to the dock to pick someone up???? I'm guessing all the screaming and waving is just a waste of effort.

    I wrote this before and I'll write it again. Always keep a waterproof watch that is set to the SHIP TIME and not the local time. I am always back on board at least a 1/2 to 1 hour before I have to. Once a ship as been cleared and is sailing, it's not like a car and just reverse. There is too much port paperwork to simply go back. Be responsible and get your ass back to the ship or be like the people in the above video.
