    “Don’t listen to the salesperson” That’s excellent advice in general.

    Mostly for backsquats and wightlifting ...
    My son gave me Reebok Legacy Lifter 2 size 9 but it's a little small, but quality. So, I ordered the Tyr L-1 Lifters in 10 because I also have a pair of the CF shoes; these were too long and the taper from midfoot to toebox is a bit narrow, so I returned them. Then, I ordered the Rogue Do-Wins in size 10, too big, and not as rigid as the Reebok LL 2s. Hence, I am living with the Reebok LLs until I get it sorted out. I am surprised the usual suspect of Reebok LLs in this list because they always are compared to the Nike Romaleos, (both pricey!) and not much on the interwebs on Sabo powerlifting and VS Atheltics (Amazon only). The shipping cost and hassle on returns is not fun, DUE TO RETAILERS NOT CARRYING THEM IN THE STORES. I use Nordics for DLs because they are very low and grippy. On the positive side the higher heeled shoes DO make a difference. Hope this helps.

    You can use a hairdrier on the inside of your chucks and tear out. Turns them into soft barefoot shoes. There isnt more than 1 millimeter of soft rubber between you and the floor, makes them thinner and softert than most wrestling and boxing shoes. I would however never squat in them tho.

  • @ZachCopley

    Your argument against Chucks for deadlifting seems logical, but why not just deadlift in socks?

    • @KathehFIT
      @KathehFIT 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cause it’s not allow in some or most gyms :/ I think that’s the reason but I could be wrong.

    So lifting with Chuck Taylors for deadlifts is ill advised? What are some deadlifting shoes that I can get then?

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I generally recommend simply deadlifting in lifting shoes, but if someone is looking to get a "flat" deadlift shoe, then I usually point them to the Sabo Deadlift PRO: amzn.to/3KfVVFM

      I don't have any experience with it, but their site advertises a "cushioned insole," so I'd avoid it.

    It sucks that you can’t find a place that actually sells them so you can try them on before buying. Different brands fit differently, as I’m sure you know. For example, I have a wide foot and I had to go up a half size when I ordered my cheap Powerlift from Adidas because Adidas typically fit a more narrow foot. Reebok, on the other hand, are wide ( so I’m told). I kind of wish that I had purchased a shoe with a higher heel because I still have trouble hitting depth in the squat sometimes. Thanks for all of your videos and advice. Very informative.

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome, and I agree - being able to try them on is far better whenever possible . . . which isn't often as you already know. We've got a bunch of pairs of lifting shoes that have been donated over the years, so our new members usually have the chance to try on multiple shoes before buying anything (and most of our members keep their lifting shoes at the gym anyway and are very nice about letting others try them on for sizing purposes).

      @waynenoll1967 check out Jake that Fit Friend for great WL, CF other shoes. My son gave a pair of Ramaleos that were too big for him, game changer for me.

    Very informative, but correct me if I’m wrong but the Sabo Deadlift pros don’t have a raised heel.

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's correct - I included them in the list of shoes in the description in case someone wanted to deadlift in flats. If I can save one person from lifting in Chucks . . . :-)

    I have a bone position restriction in my ankle that prevents one leg from being able to get knee over toes. I can get at least parallel depth if I stand on 3 pound dumbbells. What would be my best option?

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you tried lifting shoes? The heel will have the same effect as the dumbbells, but with much more stability.

    I wouldn't wear lifting shoes for deadlifts. They're perfect for squats and oly lifts, but for deadlifts I'd go for something like Metcon 8 or purpose-made deadlift shoes.
    Great video, though, much appreciated! :)

      Vas - definitely not. That’s not a shoe problem, it’s a technique problem. For starters, I would recommend checking out our “Learn to Squat“ video: th-cam.com/video/iDWIeTVoGG8/w-d-xo.html
      If you’re interested in getting in person help (we coach both remotely via Zoom and locally), shoot me an email at coach@testifysc.com and include your name and phone number. We can get your squat technique sorted out very quickly

    I have been lifting in barefoot shoes, no support at all. I have looked in a sports apparel shop and they have cross trainer shoes. I tried some on rigid sole but they had no straps but laces. Are these ok?

    • @JBravoRebel
      @JBravoRebel 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @thetechnician832 I got a pair of Nordic lifters from Amazon $90, but after that sometimes as low as $45. Not a high heel height compared to others but super solid for DLs and beginner for Olympic lifts.

    I picked up a pair of TYR lifting shoes because they are wide. Love them. And I know I’m in the minority here but I much prefer to wear lifting shoes when deadlifting than my flat soles. Just feel more stable. 🤷‍♂️

    • @TestifySC
      @TestifySC  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad you like them! We have a couple of members with the TYRs - the heel (21mm) is a bit bigger than my general recommendation, but not by much, and as you alluded to, I've heard positive reviews from people who need a wider shoe.
