I can understand his feeling of being useless although no true priest can ever be useless. I am 92 and no longer have the balance necessary to do yard work of any kind or the strength to go into my tool shop and complete a project so I often think I,m useless. But God has given me the ability to pray and what I seldom did a few years ago, I now make the most important part of my life every morning and evening,I do not look for accolades, I want you to know what I realized late in my life. You want to go to Heaven? You must work towards it and prayer is the answer. Pray for all who need it ,your family, your friends, the dead,the souls in Purgatory, the homeless, our veterans there is no end of those who need prayers. Very importantly is to pray for forgiveness every day for past sins. Show God how much you want to be with Him.I promise you you will feel useful and the Holy Spirit will be within you.
Love his sense of humor. His very intellectual and full of wisdom. A great philosopher and theologican. Love his sermons and preaching. Love his talking. Archbishop Fulton sheen Respect to you +++
By having canonized this saintly bishop, those generations who did not benefit from herd lectures would be most aware of this Warrior Against Communism and knowledge- able about the Catholic Faith, morality and love of God, family and country.
He is a wonderful man. The generation that had him was very lucky.
