They have definitely surpassed their inspiration with this one. Yeah the Jet Set games are over 20 years old and all so that shouldn't be a tall order but they have nailed it and made it a far less frustrating experience than the original Jet Sets imo.
JSRF was one of my favorite games on the original Xbox, but I never actually finished it myself since my daughter (who was 7 or 8 at the time) would take over the Xbox, so I ended up watching her play it. To this day, I keep "The Concept of Love" on my phone and still listen to it on a regular basis since it reminds me of her, and because it is a really catchy song. I just beat BRC last night after 21 hours, with at least half of that time just messing around in the levels and trying to beat my high score. (My current high score is 3,357,875.) I really like this game, but I do think they developers could have handled tutorials a lot better. I didn't know you could use the skates to break glass under your feet until I looked it up on the Steam forums. And if you haven't got to the DJ Cyber fight yet, here's a heads up---Don't chase him around, deflect his ranged attacks back at him. That is never explained in the game, so you may waste a lot of time trying to catch up and tag him when it's not possible. The camera could be a little better, the collision detection is off sometimes (I've gone through billboards instead of wall riding them), and sometimes the combo meter doesn't count your boost turns, which can mess with your score in a crew battle. Overall, it's a solid 8/10 game for those new to this type of game. For fans of JGR and JSRF, this is a 9/10 because it is improved over those games, plus the nostalgia factor gives it a bump in score.
alr so some of these things are kinda wrong: -not all billboards are wallride-able, if you touch them and nothing happens it's because it wasn't a movement billboard. you can tell when you can wallride a billboard if it's shaped like a horizontal rectangle, long or middle sized. if it's shaped like a square or a vertical rectangle, you can't wall ride it. -the camera problem _is_ true but you can fix most of it if you're playing with a mouse and keyboard (which is the better way to play the game imo, playing with controller only boosts your nostalgia but isn't very intuitive when trying to get high combos or do quick recoveries with the air boost). -i don't exactly know what you're talking about with the combo meter not counting boost turns, but if you're talking about the combo multiplier not increasing when you lean towards a corner in a rail, it's because you already leaned towards that specific corner before.
I've been a fan of the Tony Hawk's series for most of my life, and to finally play a spiritual successor of jet set that is Bomb Rush, I am so happy to buy it and play it fully, I love this game for what it is and easily my game of the year. So much fun and character design and overall vibe of the game is great. DJ Cyber best character btw. Not up for debate

I first pirated it because 40 bucks is 40 bucks, but I literally fell in love with the game instantly and after finishing chapter 1 I just HAD to buy it. Recently finished the game, absolute masterpiece, will buy the DLC soon. Easily top 3 favourite video games.
Good video dude! But FYI, Fear effect on the og playstation was the first game to attempt this art style, not very good. But it was the one that did try it successfully before Jet Set Radio. Released anyway, the games are like 4 months apart from release.
I've 100% the game. Got all the trophies and collectibles and I still play this game from time to time, that's how good I think this game is. Hella fun, and I'm glad I'm not the only one enjoying it!

There’s only a few things that keep this game from being perfect. The music got a little repetitive towards the beginning, I wish characters had their own trick styles, and some of the levels felt a bit too open sometimes. But all in all this was a solid 8/10 game
Love Bomb Rush and JSRF but no JSR is not the first game with cel shading. You can find a number of 32 bit era games with it. Mega Man Legends for example is 1997.
Why do I feel like BRC and Team Reptile are kind of challenging Sega? It’s giving very much so “Now what you gonna do?” energy. In all seriousness, I hope Team Reptile doesn’t treat BRC like a one and done game, I really hope a full fledged franchise comes from this because I’m not holding my breath for JSR 3 anymore.
Never played jet set radio and my experience with skating type games is pretty limited with skate 3 and 2 Tony hawk games however I really enjoyed this game the controls are smooth graffiti is outright addicting and the music slaps though it did feel like the ai for this game cheated in the score attack segments

I've almost fully completed the game and post game has been really fun to play. It's a must play for fans of JSR and just overall a really solid game.

BRC is so good, that I feel like Sega needs to do a JSRF+BRC-like sequel for it to be good enough. The bar has been raised significantly.
