    Thanks, Ladies
    I learned so much. Fascinating
    stuff.
    I've a done lot of road bicycling in and around. Looping from Julian ...down Hwy 78. S3 to Borrega Springs. S22 up Montezuma Grade. Hwy 79 back to Julian.
    S3 looks so much different than S2.
    It has the biggest Ocotillo I've ever seen. And Cactus (Barrel?) Flowers that are very Bright Red.
    If you could, any comment or exposition much appreciated.
    Fauna in Anza Borrega:
    Magnificent Big Horn Sheep
    Rattle Snakes that are colored to blend into the area (so I was told)
    Kind regards, Steve

    Enjoyed this video. It's great to learn the names of the plant life in Borrego. There is so many. I was just there on Feb 2-3. 😃🙌🏽

    Anza-Borrego is a beautiful park and it would be great to see the flowers in another week, when the rain has had more effect.

    That orange stuff is "witches hair". We have something real close to that in the San Gabriels in the front range. I also looked it up and there are several varieties and it has a another name, but I found it with "witches hair". Good video, thank you!

    Love your video! I hope that my desert gets this awesome of a bloom this year. One note- the plant you identify as dune primrose is actually the sand blazing star, Mentzelia involucrata. You can tell the difference in the number of petals- 4 in the primrose, 5 in the blazing star :)

    You asked in this video to let you know: I believe that orange parasite plant is dodder (or Cuscuta) and is fairly common in some areas of chaparral in SoCal. I've not noticed it as much in desert or ABDSP.

      @parkininparadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is dodder. Thanks! We're seeing it in the Southeastern part of ABDSP. I read that it doesn't usually kill the host plant.

    • @keeferchunk
      @keeferchunk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, dodder! Dodder is hemiparastic so it takes nutrients from the host plant but doesn't usually kill it. It only kills it if it smothers it too much and blocks the plant from getting sunlight which it looks like it is doing in this scenario. Some are native and some are not.

      Thanks, Doug! Yes, the wind wasn't blowing when we first got there so I didn't bother with the good microphone. 😟

    Thanks for all that plant info, I liked how you removed that invasive plant. I have a plant app that takes a picture a gives you a few suggestions to pick from called picture this that I use.

      Thanks, Bartons! I use iNaturalist and Seek, but we didn't have a cell signal there so I had to take photos and try to identify afterwards. Have you ever used iNaturalist?

    They don't only have Latin names you can't pronounce, they have names of the local Native American tribe.

      Yes, absolutely. If you know a source where I could find those, please let me know. Thanks!
