In November I stopped spending money at certain places that didn’t align with my personal values (Walmart, Amazon, Fast food etc). I have saved hundreds in the last 6 weeks just by cutting them off. It’s very eye opening. Very proud to say that Amazon didn’t get a penny from me this holiday season!
I was so out of my depth 9 months ago that money worries nearly brought me to tears. I lived frugally for 9 months - more extreme at the start - and I will be debt free in 3 months!
Agreed. The extreme frugality is only supposed to be short term and Temporary to help U financially..After that, your just meant to be regular frugal..
I am out of debt. My sister let me live on our mom's house rent free since she had passed. I just pay for utilities. I use cash. Now I am going to budget my SSI as I don't get much. But I have been able to retire at 62. I do a part time side hustle for a little extra cash. I check estate sales for things I need.
I started using cash and it totally changed my thinking. I don't buy stuff I used to. Was always wondering how to get to next payday before needed gas again. Now I have $600 towards my $1000 goal and paid off an extra $720 last time I figured I'm my credit card. Thank you again. Your channel is the first one I started watching and you helped me so much.
@@marciaghee5029 I still use my debit card for some things that I have on auto pay etc. Anything over those bills I withdraw the cash and use it. Totally helped me with making a budget first and using cash.
I had Verizon for 20 years. October, I just switched to Mint Mobile. What a relief. I was so scared. I’m NOT scared anymore. NO! I’ve learned to say NO! Just Recently. I’m getting used to saying No!
I paid with cash for everything for long time and it works. But about 8 or so years ago I started using creadit cards for everything for the cash back. The cash back is baked in to the price no matter what you pay with. So now I use credit card for everything and pay the credit card off EVERY SINGLE MORNING with my coffee. We are frugal already so that helps. We cash in our points once a year for total of about $1000 for the year.
Yes! Cash only is not smart, using credit cards, buying only what you'd buy anyway and you can afford, paying your card balance off in time every month, and take advantage of cash back or points is the way to go!
I had my recliner break down. I am disabled and it is better for me to be able to put my legs up. My sister found a used recliner for sale that actually is nicer than my old one. I can't remember exactly how much we spent on it but it was a lot less than going to a store and buying a new one.

It's a way of life. I have gone back to need over want. Now I have budgets for wants. It has been life changing.
I recently came across your videos and really appreciate them. Growing up, I had a wonderful childhood with all the necessities and some toys. We played outside until it got dark, and I never felt like I missed out on anything. However, when my kids were born, and my husband was frequently deployed or training in the military, we ended up buying too many toys and gadgets for them. When I say to many, believe me, a bonus room above the garage was packed with toys, books, electronics, etc. Now that my kids are 20 and 17, I realize that I may have overwhelmed them with too much stuff. My son was recently diagnosed with ADHD, and I believe that all those toys may have overloaded his brain. I thought I was taking care of them, but in hindsight, I see it differently. If I could go back, I would make some changes. Although I can't change the past, I am now trying to teach my kids not to make the same mistakes with their future children. Cash stuffing has saved me from major anxiety over money. I'm saving now and paying down each debt every paycheck. It all started with coming across your videos on September 2024. THANK YOU.
In January of this year a friend convinced me that I actually COULD save R300 per month out of my R2190 per month South African State Pension. I don't have rent because I live in a caravan in this friend's beautiful huge country garden. I do chores and help out to pay rent. So, basically, food for me and food for the cat/s (numbers vary!). I have enough clothes. I have enough 'stuff'. But save? On that piss-willy amount. But I also have a (very small) side-hustle - I make miktarts. Anyway, I started giving her R300 towards an emergency fund. I had to take R600 out in October - but I put it back. I SHOULD have R3600 here in December - but I have R4370! Not only are the miktarts doing well because the campsites where I sell are full (and it's Christmas!) but I have developed a rat-trap attitude towards money, the non-spending of money, and the GETTING of money. (I'm getting into the habit of walking into the supermarket like a hyena looking for a free meal!) It can be done!
Well done and awesome friend. A fellow South African here and thanks to Jen and Dave Ramsey I became debt free two years after retirement. Luckily I get a civil pension so I am better off. All my Christmas shopping was from cash stuffing for this year. ❤
“Pressured for time” is that ever TRUE! I’ve been making the worst decisions because I’m tired (working retail during Christmas 🫠) and pressured for time. Great advice as always Jenn. I need a money boot camp ASAP. Going to face the music of my poor decisions today and dig my way out of it!

Cash allows me to implement my own form of trickle down economics. I use cash for groceries and gas. If I get back a $5 bill in my change this goes into my $5 fund. The $5 fund is saved in a jar and used for garage sale purchases, occasional take out pizzas, kids selling stuff door to door (although that doesn't happen as often as it used to), entrance fees for local events, and miscellaneous things. Coins get collected in a jar. When it builds up (and it does pretty quickly) I cash it in at my bank and I buy 1 oz silver rounds with that money. So I am technically not spending it, I am just exchanging it for the store of value. When I started doing this, silver was under $20 an ounce, today silver is $29.77 an ounce. Which is much better than the interest rate I can get at any bank. I am saving this silver so that I can buy my next car with cash when I exchange my silver back to cash.

Omg doomsday purchasing and pandemic buying…. Thank you. This is helpful. Ouch. I just made a list off my 2024 Amazon and other purchases. I could have lived without all of it. I made improvements over 2023 and prior but more work needed. I do better when I look at it from a perspective of time and energy dealing with “stuff” rather than money; this helps me as I go into a No Spend Challenge for 2025.
I look at my Amazon purchases OFTEN. I have been trying to cut them out completely. I need to find other places to buy a few of the items I need and Amazon will be erased from my life! 👏
I used cash only for about a year to train myself before I went back to using my debit card or credit card… I know what I have in my sinking fund and now have the knowledge and discipline to only swipe what I can pay for….. but it took me a year lol
Get a credit card with cash back. As long as you only use it for things you'd buy anyway, and you pay it off religiously, you literally get free money back
Awesome! I think that anytime we are willing to try new things - we will learn something. Who knows what it will be - it might not end up being what we even thought it would. I like that you are willing to find out! 💛 Good luck!🍀
I've usually not made big purchases until I've slept on it and that has saved me A LOT. I've never thought to use the same technique on small things. I love the story about you and your husband not buying the candy and batteries. That's a whole new way of thinking for me. I'm going to do that. It will be hard at first, but so worth it. xo~linda
Absolutely, Linda! 💛 It’s all important. If someone tried to knock $10 off our pay this hour- we would fight them to the end on it. But throw that same $10 onto something we don’t really need- that’s ok. We have to shift these brains. 🤩
I’m new to your channel so you may have covered this already. I am very aware of how I can save money in my home by doing laundry and running my dishwasher during off peak times in the day. Most people don’t realize that electricity is billed at different prices depending on the time of day. Where I live it is 18 cents a kilowatt between 7 am to 7 pm and from 7pm to 7am it is 8 cents a kilowatt which is more than half the cost. I also don’t run my washer or dishwasher until they have a full load which also saves me on my water bill.
I love those, too. They are A LOT of work- take a couple weeks to complete from start to finish. And I have to be in a certain mood for those - they do bring stress into the house. Jason and I discuss them, I research a lot of things- it’s a JOB. 😅 One will be coming, though! I promise. 💛
The card vs cash rings true. Not only for my personal spending, I spend less in cash then swiping my debt card. When I worked retail, my last employer wanted the cashiers to sell the credit cards. One of the training sections listed that credit card holders spend on average 40% more using the store card. I started tracking my spending in May. After having 18-20 spends a month (May-Aug), I wrote out rules for No Spend. My spend days were lower but not where I wanted them to "bee": Sept-13, Oct-12 & Nov-9. For December, I had a list of gifts & a cash envelope for Christmas. As of 12/28, I have only spent 3 days!!! Two of those days were take out. I'm not usually a take out spender but I didn't feel like cooking after working all day.
Ok I'm gonna ask a question. Nobody asking maybe ,cause they're embarrassed or because they want someone else to do it. But what happened to the tree with no batteries and no candy in the candy dish? Did you put them away or did they just sit there a tree Not lighting up and the candy dish empty. Just curious..us old people are curious..
The tree did not light up and we actually MADE IT through the holiday season!!! My husband is still breathing ( last time I checked) and SO AM I! It’s a Christmas miracle!! 😂😂😂😂 And the candy dish held my remote control while it sat there on the table. Did a job!
Actually Amazon is cheaper than stores where I live so I but from Amazon all the time. Not for extravagant items, but honestly toilet paper is cheaper on Amazon than at my local grocery store. I'm very calculated ... take the price and divide and compare. Even Amazon Fresh or Wholefoods is cheaper, it's crazy! I had my phone for 10 years before it stopped working. I never took it out of the house or if I did it was to use the camera here in the neighborhood. Otherwise it stays indoors. I use to use cash until I learned to set a limit and STAY with that limit ... then life got easier.
I love these videos! It has inspired me to try to buy less. I’ve decided I’m going to really think about whether I need something before I buy it, maybe even wait 24 hrs. Also I will write it down if I do make a purchase.
Frugal to me means buying what you need and not what you want. Save for the extra things until you have cash. Not using credit cards. Being smarter with my money. Everyone is in the mindset of instant gratification and swipe cards cause they don't want to wait for something they want.
Hi Jenn! I grew up where you paid cash for everything. I don’t rember even using checks. If a bill needed paying like gas or electric we walked th whiichever company and paid cash and got a receipt.
I did cash for a long time and then life happened and I had to use a credit card and then I went to the hospital so I’m making my last payment on my hospital bill and I’m fixing to pull out the money that I’ve used to pay on the hospital bill and I’m using it as my cash and also I’m gonna use that cash as to get ahead on things like car insurance home insurance Car tag trailer … and I will be ready for them to be paid when it due. I’m so glad I watched your video. It really up in my eyes and ma made me think I have unsubscribe to Amazon cancel my Target and anything else that I can push a button in order because I order more than I need always. from now on I buy when I need and if I don’t have the money and it’s not an emergency, it will just have to wait.
Love all the advice here, I'm definitely going to try carrying cash & I wish I could change to a cheaper cell service, but Verizon is the only one that has worked for us here & when we travel to Mexico
You know what we did? I tried Mint’s service by getting one line. Only cost me $30 and I could see how good it was before I switched it completely. In that time, I went on a trip out of state and so did Jason. It worked great for both of us so then I switched. The savings is worth a try. ⭐️
I like your channel. Many good tips… however we live way out in the sticks in Michigan. Our Walmart is 15 miles away. It is cheaper for us to order those batteries either from Amazon or Sam’s Club. Going in Walmart cost us more as we end up grabbing more than batteries and we don’t get there very often. Also many items are not carried in our local store. I hear it from my husband all the time complaining about so many Amazon deliveries but I feel justified. Sam’s club is 50 miles away and has way less inventory the last two years or so. I have to order from there online as well. Just so many changes that force us to order online. Just saying 🤷♀️ -Linda S.
Hello Jenn, I like the let the need be mighty, I sometimes do that. Now I will work on doing it more often. I am thinking about switching my phone plan.
Hi Jen. GREAT video. So happy you are doing so many of these types of videos now. Question: Are you no longer cash stuffing or doing savings challenges in videos?
Hey Libby! I will still do cash stuffing and savings challenge style videos. And occasional budgets. Lots of different things but all related to saving money! 💵 🐝
Do you have a rule of thumb on what to charge for an item that you put on marketplace? Is there a certain percent of what the retail value is? I always have a hard time and I think I asked too much and I don’t sell very much it just sits there and I end up giving it to the Goodwill. Please let me know if it’s 30% of the retail 50% of the retail…?
Oh Lord....my phone. 😂 I have a Samsung s9 plus. I recently ran over it with the tractor....long story. Anyways, my husband said to just go buy a new phone. Nope, I just took it and had the screen replaced. Thankfully the cameras were fine...it was just the screen. Maybe I'll save for a new phone in 2025. 😂
I know you have a lot of content up your sleeves and I was wondering if one of your videos will be about how to reset after over doing it during Christmas 😬 Why is budgeting like dieting?! I’m going to need to do both 😂
Girl. I know! All the blah stuff requires all the blah stuff! 😂😂😂 I’m coming in hot for 2025! I wish there were 3 of me so I could do what I REALLY want for you guys but it will all get there. 🤩💛
What is Aprils channel called? I have just found your videos and I started binge watching your channel. I seen several references at Aprils channel but what is it called? I only see her Etsy. Love your channel I got the budget bug this past year and starting sinking funds but you have got me to wanting to do some saving challenges lol.
You can be both. I'm frugal and a cheapskate. I guess that's why I'm never broke and have money. If everybody follow my steps and do exactly what I been doing since forever. Most big business today, would be out of business. That's how frugal and cheapskate I am.
Well, 70% of the GDP is consumption of goods and services so he wasn’t completely wrong - I just don’t think that the level of spending we have gotten to is normal.
Using a card is how we track spending. Using cash seems more difficult to track where the cash went. I think you would need to be very organized. I am not. Suggestions?????

Be very careful with homeowners insurance. My company paid 10,000 on new roof, my neighbors insurance paid zero. Your paying on the hopes of paying claims. Dont hop onto others, you will not get paid claims. Dont be fooled with low prices, get a company that is true and pays claims. Your buying who pays claims, cheap is not what you want . I worked in insurance 25years, i know.
It's crazy to think that there's a generation that may never have used cash to pay for anything. Ever. Crazy. I charge everything to my credit cards but have had no debt whatsoever for many, many years.
That’s so good. That’s hard to do and you were able to manage it. 💛 I have had ups and downs with credit. Definitely learned the hard way. That seems to be how I rolled. 😂

Yes- it’s interesting to me, too. 💛🐝
I use rechargeable batteries and its a game changer....so much money saved
Yes yes.
For those AA and AAA that we use all the time - rechargeable is the way to go! Thanks for mentioning that! ⭐️
Preach it sister - good ole fashioned sound advice!
I’m going to start with paying cash. Wish me luck. Thanks for a great video.
Awesome! I think that anytime we are willing to try new things - we will learn something. Who knows what it will be - it might not end up being what we even thought it would. I like that you are willing to find out! 💛
Good luck!🍀
2025 voting with my dollars. I vote to keep my dollars.
Living without debt = Freedom and peace of mind
I've usually not made big purchases until I've slept on it and that has saved me A LOT. I've never thought to use the same technique on small things. I love the story about you and your husband not buying the candy and batteries. That's a whole new way of thinking for me. I'm going to do that. It will be hard at first, but so worth it.
xo~linda
Absolutely, Linda! 💛
It’s all important.
Yes, Wendy!! Thank you for commenting this! 💛
We can use all the help we can get! ⭐️🐝👏
Great tip!
Good advice as usual. Thank you Jenn!! 😊
I really like the videos where you do real people’s budgets. It’s the best videos ever for me.
I love those, too. They are A LOT of work- take a couple weeks to complete from start to finish.
And I have to be in a certain mood for those - they do bring stress into the house. Jason and I discuss them, I research a lot of things- it’s a JOB. 😅
One will be coming, though! I promise. 💛
I m gonna start using Cash instead of my card!❤
I’ve had the same tablet for 12 years
Yes! I love it! My oldest daughter has her laptop from college.
So it’s about 12 years old or so, too! 💛🤩
And the candy dish held my remote control while it sat there on the table. Did a job!
@@2SisterBees it sure did!! Thank you!!
Handing over ca$h gives me a sinking, deep despair feeling😅 Love this!
Love all the tips so.looking forward to a no spend jan
Some great tips here and a great video. My biggest takeaway is to use cash when possible. I think it will help me keep more money.
Thanks Jenn! Great tips. The cash vs cc is absolutely true!
I will do all of them
Happy Sunday 😊
Here listening and supporting

I have so much to learn. Cash savings and stuffing and debt payoff
Loving all the tips you shared on this video Jen 💕💸💖
Cash and Carry always!
Hi Jenn! Great video!! I love the idea of not buying something right away! I do a lot of impulse buys online and usually regret it. ❤
A LOT of people have issues with impulse spending. You are certainly not alone. Keep looking for ways to curb it- every little bit helps. 💛
I will pay the price by being patient to win at the end
Hello. This is my first time watching your channel today. Love your advice. I subscribed today.
Oh awesome!! So glad you were able to find me and the the channel! Welcome! 💛🤩🐝
I NEVER use credit card. Simply I do not need it and I don’t want it. And I have stellar credit score. I use ONLY cash.
Great video Jen 😊🩵
Ok! I'm gonna try cash
Wise advice
Thank you.
I hope you found the video helpful - 💛🐝🤩
To start no Amazon for a year! Ok let's go one more no walmart on line.
❤ Hi Jenn. ❤ Watching and enjoying! ... Another great video, full of wisdom! ❤❤❤
Thanks so much! 💛
Student loans are killing most people with minimum monthly payments of $700 in addition to rent etc
Hi there - this video is all about selling items:

Yessss! 👏
I loved my S9 - might have been the best phone ever.

I know you have a lot of content up your sleeves and I was wondering if one of your videos will be about how to reset after over doing it during Christmas 😬 Why is budgeting like dieting?! I’m going to need to do both 😂
Girl. I know! All the blah stuff requires all the blah stuff! 😂😂😂
I’m coming in hot for 2025! I wish there were 3 of me so I could do what I REALLY want for you guys but it will all get there. 🤩💛

You can be both. I'm frugal and a cheapskate. I guess that's why I'm never broke and have money. If everybody follow my steps and do exactly what I been doing since forever. Most big business today, would be out of business. That's how frugal and cheapskate I am.
I don’t know who can think that the Economy will collapse 😂 Great video ❤!!!!
Find this inspiring thank you
Thank you! I’m so glad you found it helpful ! 💛
Good advise.
Love this video ❤ tkanks
Gotta love Reba & no stress 😂
Yes!!! 🤩
Hi, I love your channel. It is being very useful to me. I have a question. What should I do when I finish the month ahead challenge? Should I put it on a saving account? Thank you

In sweden we can't pay cash😢
❤ good evening how are you doing today ❤
I began a NoSpend challenge on January 1, 2025!
Don’t you have a joint account? What if your partner spends more than you?
If you have a partner that you share expenses with- the two of you would need to be on the same page and do this together.
I have a video on getting your partner on board here :

Wishing you well in the New Year! 💛
💖😉👍🏻🙏🏻thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching! 🤩
I just had my kid put there favorite stickers on my phone
Know my phone look cool and new
I bet it’s the best phone around! ❤️🥰
I want to retire before 60. Please help me
It's crazy to think that there's a generation that may never have used cash to pay for anything. Ever. Crazy. I charge everything to my credit cards but have had no debt whatsoever for many, many years.
That’s so good. That’s hard to do and you were able to manage it. 💛
I have had ups and downs with credit. Definitely learned the hard way. That seems to be how I rolled. 😂
Learn to use chalk paint! You can paint free curbside furniture!
Great advice and great video :D
I actually just sent you an email!
I window shop on Amazon. I don't buy its just wishful thinking 😂
