    I like the idea of going bill by bill to get a month ahead. Thanks for sharing these creative ideas. I’m always searching for ways to make saving more fun.

    I would recommend putting all month ahead funds in a high yield savings account, drawing more intreat to you, than siting in a checking account, envelope or a regular savings account.

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Sure- they could do that. I think of HYS for savings of 1-3 years that you aren’t planning on using. Any less- fluid money that you plan on using and would like accessible.
      Any more- invest it in more long term accounts.
      It’s all just a personal preference.

    Thanks so much for the budgeting advice! My husband started reading Dave Ramsey's book and he is now open to the envelope method. Feeling Hopeful!

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      It’s such a great way to start. If nothing else has worked- I will always say that the cash method was what needed to happen. It shook things up and made us look at money as a tangible.
      We had been looking at it as a hypothetical and usually inaccurate number on a screen.
      I’d love to hear if you do begin using envelopes!

    • @lisadearing5960
      @lisadearing5960 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      My husband retired a year ago…2 years earlier then originally planned.
      I had never budgeted before. I watched TH-cam videos to learn how to do it. I started the envelopes and cash budgeting.
      I can honestly say, we are in better shape financially now then before my husband retired. We are on track to pay off our house in 2 years.
      Once you start and see what kind of progress you are making, it’s the best thing ever! Good luck to you!🙂

    Selling items online is one of my favorite things to do. I am currently selling as much as I can to help cover the cost of our family vacation for my brother's birthday. I have Sold stuff for years online to help reach goals. I know it can feel like a lot of work but it is worth it in the end!

    New subscriber…Love your videos minus the automated people and cartoons in between.
    I just started to track my spending this month, because I was like you and wanted to know what I was spending on every month and find that by writing it down, it helps you to think about each purchase. Plus I like to see the needs from the wants. I wish I did this years ago, it is very helpful to see what our money is being spent on. I agree with you and find it very helpful to do.👏

    I have considered doing this for a long time, but i think you are the first person that I have seen explain how to accomplish this goal. I may have missed this point, but do you wait until until you have built the entire fund to begin using it or do you recommend that we begin using it when we acquire the first small amount? This was a great video. I am not sure I am prepared for all of the aspects. I know I need to re-watch the video, but I will send it to myself so that i can begin processing the information.

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You want to just save up your monthly amounts for all of your bills, put that “name” on it so you don’t spend on anything else - and let it sit as an emergency fund.
      I hope that helps and makes sense. I hate text sometimes 💛

    Love the concept. Though for me I get paid on the 15th and 30th..nothing wrong with paying certain bills on the 1st and 15th. If you have cash in savings that is not living check to check just budgeting by pay period instead of all on the 1st right?

    Where would you fit this in if you were following the baby steps and are currently on BS2? At the same time as working on debt payoff or wait until debt free?

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      This is a great question and you’ll probably be not so happy to know that I actually filmed myself answering this exact question but I cut it out. 😭
      And the reason I cut it - is this. I, personally, would do it in between baby step 1 and 2. Just to give myself that extra cushion before venturing into debt. But then again , I had 300k worth.
      Someone who has 5k in debt- or even 15k … might want to just get it paid because mathematically, they would be saving on the interest.
      I think it’s up to the situation and how the person feels about it.

    • @ashleydavis8367
      @ashleydavis8367 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great minds think alike I guess! I understand exactly what you are saying.. I was kind of thinking that it may be a good idea to do it while working on BS2 since you truly never know what can happen! Thanks for the great advice, you are making a difference!

  • @lmwyatt
    @lmwyatt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    So does this mean you are always moving money to savings and always moving it back out?

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      No. To initially save (insert your monthly amount needed here ) I suggest keeping it separate in a different account.
      Once you have the FULL monthly amount and you are officially one month ahead - move that money to whatever account you pay bills from.
      From there, you need to maintain your “bills only account” by adding x amount of dollars each pay period.
      If you do that, you will always have your bill money ready to go on the 1st of each month.

    I have to admit I am totally confused. After you put away the $8 for Netflix you started to bring out tracker sheets etc. and items to buy and you lost me. I'm 76 living solely on social security and food stamps. Help! Do I save a small amount toward the large balance each month OR one small bill at a time??? Sorry for not catching on quickly.

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes-
      You start by making a list of all of your bills - smallest amount to largest amount.
      And then save- the smallest one first and so on.

I work 4 days a week 10 hours day 40 hours a week. But on peak season we are going on overtime our 40 hours and plus 20 overtime working 6 days all season long until after Christmas. My overtime extra money I can get it done or pay my debt idk please help. Ps I also need emergency fund.

      Id say with your OT money do both! split it either in half for debt & EF, that EF is so important. Once you have the EF, Ramsey says to put everything to debt. But you can continue to split the ot pay til you are one month ahead than keep going on debt.

      Hi Ana! That’s awesome that you have OT coming up! 🤩
      Step 1: put $1k aside for emergencies
      Step 2: start paying off debt, smallest amount to largest amount.
      If you fall off the wagon or have an emergency come up that clears out your $1k. Pause. Start over!
      Just don’t quit!
      To make it go faster, no spending on non essential items. You can do this!

      The thing with budgeting is- you have to kind of make it, “a thing”.
      Like a date night. Get a drink and sit somewhere comfy. Have everything ready to look over and just take your time.
      You can do this! 👏🤩

    Why wouldn't you just budget what it cost to live for one month on your bills and leave that amount in your savings for an emergency? Why transfer each month?

  • @justwait9822
    @justwait9822 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

    A month ahead on bills? People should have an emergency fund that can pay all their monthly expenses for at least 6 months.

    You could work less by cutting expenses like Netflix. Also do not borrow which Americans can’t imagine but possible. This is not changing the behaviour. My husband and I do not borrow money. Especially important if you’re heading to retirement. You better have your house and cars paid off or you wont make it.

  • @Sasha-ws6gv
    @Sasha-ws6gv หลายเดือนก่อน

    This makes absolutely no sense unless you have a second form of income. I bring home 6k per momth and my bills equate to that so tell me how on earth sm I putting an extra amount in savings! This sounds great in theory but not reality

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      And you are correct. If you are not spending ANY money on anything but bills and groceries yet you find yourself still living paycheck to paycheck- it is a definite income problem. You would need to add more with a 2nd job.
      These things discussed in the video are not “theory”.
      They are actual ways to cut spending and/or bring in more income. I have done all of them and I am now debt free.
      Facts. 👏💛🐝

    • @Sasha-ws6gv
      @Sasha-ws6gv หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @2SisterBees As I said, it sounds good in theory. You said you and your husband did this together sweetheart. You did not do this strategy by yourself that's the point I'm making! If I could take my 6k and pay ahead my bills that would be awesome but that is not logical!

    OK hearing you brag about your financial work with all and the fact that you have a spouse is so discouraging... I was feeling hopeful before watching your video. . It really does drag people down to hear about your pain down $300,000 when we can't even find a way to spend $4 for self-raising flour.. Besides not having a spouse some people are disabled and cannot work not disabled enough to get benefits just not physically able to sit or stand for more than 15 minutes.

    • @2SisterBees
      @2SisterBees  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Hmmm.. I’m very confused by your comment here today.
      I happened to be on another YT’ers video and I saw where you say that you have 5 different accounts and 3 of them are HYS accounts. Also, you mentioned that you always keep “cash on hand”.
      For someone who is disabled and can’t buy a $4 bag of flour - you seem like you’re doing ok on other channel’s comments - just not mine. I find that interesting and it leaves me to wonder what your end goal was here.
      To make me feel bad?
      To discourage me?
      I mean, you went as far as to accuse me of “bragging”.
      I’m just trying to help others. I wonder what your day consists of ? 🤷‍♀️
