  • Mokume gane comes in many different shapes and forms, but there are a few things you should keep in mind when you use this technique. From how your colors are affected by the way you slice to how the number of layers you have can make or break your mokume gane, I’ll be showing all of these tips in this tutorial.

Your tutorials are wonderful Samantha. Clear, informative and very illustrative. You are always well prepared, don't waste any of your viewers time with long silences or nothing happening and what you are showing is always within the camera frame. Excellent, enjoyable viewing and I am learning heaps from you. Thank you.

Another great tutorial on the basics. I've been doing mokume gane for some time, but didn't know all of the factors that affect the pattern. The tips about adding black and/or white and how colors are affected by the stacking order are invaluable. Thanks again.

I'm not sure where I got that texture. It was a resin mat I bought from Kmart I think.

Wow, thank you! This is super helpful! How would you go ahead and turn this into a Cabochon at this point? Would you just go straight ahead and cut into it with something and shape it? Can you roll it first without messing too much with the integrity of the design? Sorry, I’m a beginner 😅
