I met a Samoan dude from park village when I lived in Utah. I’m a brotha and my ex wife was a Mormon so we parlayed there for bit. I went to their church and the only islander that really functioned with me out the gate was him. I’m from the south but I could tell this uso was different than many of the Hawaii Samoans. He spoke with a black vernacular , but he wasn’t trying. He was just being him. He said he was from the cpt and gave me some background. He was a cool uso. Family man that moved to Utah to raise his family in a safe place.. respect

I grew up in Long Beach in the early 90s. A lot of my family lived in the Ville. We all attended a Samoan church in Compton. I have cousins from WSP in Carson. I have cousins from the S in Long Beach. I also have cousins that banged from the Ville. I grew up and got out of that place. It saddens me that today’s youth glorify what I had to struggle to get away from. I have kids now and I keep their heads in the books and their time on the football field. Don’t repeat the mistakes of my generation. Live and strive for better and healthier life. Y’all stay blessed and be kind to one another ✊🏽

I wish Big Rebo would have came with a younger reputable homie so he can answer some of these questions. I'm not even from Compton but heard of Rosco and even ran into him like twice in my life. 1 time we got into it which led to big rumble cuz in the streets we wasn't cool I aint gonna lie but it's funny I did time and ran across him again some eses try to pack me out inside and he jumped in and helped me. Very solid brother and he will always be a cool nigga to me. I became cool with every Park Village Crips after that day. I know where kev Mac was going with his question when he asked if Samoans from park village ride with Black's in mainline. I can answer that question for u, it's a yes and no. No, cuz some of the Park Village join the Others Car to unite with the rest of their people. However, most of them run with the Black's cuz the reason why they don't like the Tongan Gangs or the samoans from Long Beach from that SOS gang. The same thing for the Samoans from piru or blood in Carson and so on. When they get locked up they go to the Black's cuz they also don't get along with the other sets in "THE Others Car". When u join the others car it's ran by Samoan or Tongan for the most part. The color of your flag is no longer represented when u join its design that way to open arms up to all Polynesian people, even Asian, Filipinos and so on. They created that code to bond the race they learned that from the southsiders car. Leave the beef in the streets its all about power in number. However, if Black's get down we still get down too we alias.

Nah the umu (earth oven) is done above ground we cook the pig , taro , green banana's , chicken , mutton flaps , lu'au, yams and side dishes of corned beef , sapasui , pani popo (dessert) etc .

You are absolutely right as far as the Traditional Samoan Umu being above ground on top of hot rocks layered with banana leaves to keep the steam up high for the food to cook evenly.

Feels like each part was cut short. I wish u could just release all the footage of what Rebo had to say in 1 long video. Because he has so much info and he barely gets to speak on it. Like he will talk about prison wars for 30 seconds but it feels like he could go on for an hour on prison life alone. Then another hour on his street life.

i grew up in utah, park village and tcg were of a big influence on the gangs in jr high and high school. glendale was always known as a place to "be safe" while around the area. never know when one could get ran up on, they were definitely a different type of islander though, typically throwing the word nigga around as if it was their own, Utah's a strange place with an even stranger dynamic in community. many were brought here by the Mormon church. alot of church-going parents and such, with wild-ass teenagers. i had a friend in my teenage years whose family ties were deep in the crip culture. a 6'3 220 pound giant of a 14-year-old.

My daughter's mother family ..his fam had kids with. I was in there lots of days out of the week 7 years straight from 2001-08. One memorable moment for me is..when about 2004 or so... after a PV got killed at a Samoan flag day event in Carson... they was turnt up in the Vill.. shotguns out ..pistols out..broad daylight... doing what they do. Here I go.. with a blue Long Beach hat on Driving my 84 two door caddy brougham..white with a blue top and blue interior.. on 100 spokes going in park village to see my gfs family member like I been doing for 3 years at that point.. some samoan ..black and Mexican dudes bangin PVCC stopped my ass throwin up they shit got in front of my car surrounded my shit asked me where im from and what im doing in here with that long Beach hat on..I told them who I was with and there for..had to do what I had to do to keep it pushing..after they just had a homeboy killed. I was 22 years old around that time. After that day.. I got smarter. I stopped moving around Compton carelessly
