Idiot nothing shifts by removing a oil filter
thanks about information I great you from Dubai
United Arab Emirates
My 07 grand Vitara is spewing oil and smoking and it’s coming through the ac. I suspect a valve cover gasket replacement
A motor oil change has nothing to do with an already leaky valve cover gasket dude you're not alone there so many out there that's avoiding a costly repair by trying to spend the least amount on a simple repair then say the car had not had so and so b4 you worked on it and now it's doing this that's the reason I don test drive any vehicle that's being repaired I will look over my drain plug and filter for leaks though not that I'm a bad tech but you'll never know how the part will hold up once installed
Have you had to change the oil pan in this year xl7? Its looking to be a big job. Cant get the pan out because of the subframe ( welded not bolted )
No haven’t had to change the oil pan, my alternator just crapped out today, wondering if I should do it myself.
Interesting my wife's XL7 of the same vintage had a leak in the same location, finally got it temporarily stopped last week with some RTV on the outside but spent the past 3 years with the vehicle mostly parked, the leak would drip on the alternator, fling to the pulley, slosh to the belt and then finely mist over the chain cover leaving no distinct trace of what was leaking and or where. In the past we would clean every surface and let it idle for hours and never could replicate the misting (This was because the car was parked on a slight slope) only time we would have oil accumulate was when the vehicle was being driven leaving a lot of confusion on it's source. To determine it's location I tin foiled over every line and parked the vehicle on a flat surface and thankfully the afternoon sun was in the right direction to illuminate that area as I was about to give up. I have this gasket to replace to look forward to, I expect nothing but fun.
Also change the o-rings on the injectors too when you change the gasket make sure you buy the rights ones and still use a little RTV on the half moons
@@WhatsForDinner1 Thanks for the feedback will add that to the list, currently planning on buying a complete kit to touch up on all the gaskets and chains, as well as replacing the hydraulic lifters as it has sounded like a wimpy power stroke for awhile now. We replaced the front main seal in the past thinking that had been the problem area, what a nightmare to get into would hate to repeat the process 3 times.
No worries good luck with it. I love mine hopefully can keep it going for long enough to afford a new truck with a payment! But I will still keep it if I have the space great in the winter
Where was it leaking after the oil change?
Close to the half moon it actually sucked in a few spots he fixed it the next day
Pain inthe asa to replace the valve gasket
Wish it was step by step
These engines are crazy but once you start taking the top of them off you will start figuring everything out and be able to put it back together in 5 mins. The top I’m referring to the air intake. I just cleaned my IAC valve and going to replace it in a week and also the EGR Valve I may make a video considering there’s only one for the egr valve.
What is the torque specs for the valve covers?
I have no clue, go on Suzuki Forum they could answer almost all questions
Question do you have to remove the heads to replace the valve seals?
No, the valve cover gaskets
You basically have to take the top half off the engine apart to replace them. & your going to want all new seals & o-rings for the injectors & manifold.
What brand gasket did you use to stop the leaking?
The brand I don’t remember it was off eBay. The leak that I had after the replacement my uncle in law came back the next day it was pinched in a few spots. But wasn’t before oil change.
What's the valve cover torque specs can you list it in the description
Just join the Suzuki Forum
