Black mold inside flooded walls becomes deadly too quickly. I'm grateful to be alive, I was moved to HUD housing. The VOCs volatile organic chemicals at my old place were off the charts. I had severe double pneumonia over and over. That's all I know about flooded walls, also the flooring traps mold too.

This facility should have evacuated these people somewhere where they werent on ground level at the very least . There should have been a plan put in place and made preperations , packed a small bag of dry clothes , a sweater , extra meds , water , snacks etc . This is absolutely ridiculous and pathetic . It is far better to be safe than sorry , especially when it comes to the elderly , being in cold water for hours may very well kill some of these people . It makes absolutely no sense to say "This area doesnt usually flood" when all the rivers, lakes , retention ponds etc are completely full from Helene less than 2 weeks ago and the ground is still completely saturated and this storm was 2-3 times bigger . Of course places were going to flood where do you think a whole bunch more water is going to go ?

@@vaderladyl the only way this was "unexpected" is if people were choosing to be willfully ignorant.
If Milton had stayed Cat 5 as anticipated, and as large as Milton was (tip of the storm to tip), ALL OF FLORIDA could have been under water.
This absolutely could have been prevented.
Unfortunately, we have a group of politicians following an investor who enjoys gambling with other people's money, and they are all now playing political poker using American lives as the poker chips.
Not all rich people are self-medicating by hoarding resources....but the ones who are?
They are destroying our corporations, they are destroying our government, and they are destroying people's lives.

Too many in wheelchairs and probably should be in a nursing home facility. I hope everyone gets good care wherever they're transported. Giving patients medication is a big advantage to elderly, if care workers are dependable. God Bless them all.

Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, as a dangerous Category 3 storm and weakened to a Category 1 as it cut through the state and moved offshore, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Milton dropped more than 18 inches of rain on St. Petersburg, representing a more than a 1-in-1000 year rainfall event for the area.
Milton, the third hurricane to hit Florida this year, has knocked out power for more than 3 million people in the state. Wind gusts of 100 mph were recorded near Tampa. Milton ripped off the roof of Tropicana Field, which was set to be a makeshift shelter for first responders.
Officials in Pinellas County, Florida, which encompasses St. Petersburg and Clearwater, have lifted the mandatory evacuation orders issued before Hurricane Milton made landfall.
The county is still asking residents to avoid unnecessary travel because many areas remain without power or water, and roads have not yet been cleared of debris and hazards.
Officials in St. Petersburg, Florida, have issued a boil water notice for residents after major water main breaks caused by Hurricane Milton disrupted drinking water access in the city.
The notice includes residents in St. Petersburg, Gulfport, South Pasadena, and Lealman.
The city said boiled or bottled water should be used for activities including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or cleaning. According to the CDC, water should be brought to a full rolling boil for 1 minute and allowed to cool before use.
