@@AdventureswiththeMarine I actually just purchased the Hudson River Quilt 78x48 from Jacks R Better. Very limited stock so pulled the trigger. Hasn't shipped yet though.
Hey, so what width did you end up getting on your Sparrow? I am around 1.82m tall (6 foot) and weigh around 80kg (176 pounds), thin body type "ectomorph". I think I'm gonna go with a 64" width. This is going to be my very first hammock, never tried one before. I don't know if I'm right or left lay and can't really try a hammock right now, so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get a symmetrical bug net. I asked Randy and the hammock body itself isn't cut asym/sym, it's the top cover that gives it a sym or asym shape, so I could always buy a symmetrical bugnet/cover afterwards once I figure out how I behave in a hammock! I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with a Sparrow, the only other hammock I was thinking about is a Dutchware Chameleon (you can also get a custom width on a Chameleon for 10$ extra). Which one do you think would be the most comfortable (comfort is the only thing that matters to me, frankly)? Thanks a lot!
I would favor the the Dream Hammock Sparrow. With your height being 1.82m and weighing around 80kg. I would really suggest that you up the width to either 66" or 68" if you plan on sleeping overnight in it. I have hammocks with different widths. So far. Everyone has agreed that the wider is much better. Also, I would definitely get your bug net cut asymmetrical. ( it makes the hammock have a awesome view and very good ventilation )That is a big reason why the sparrow is a great hammock. If you are right handed. Then get a right lay. If you are left handed. Then get a left lay. You would be comfortable either way. If you have any other thoughts. Please let me know.
I should of said that I was not sponsored by Dream Hammock in any way. I paid for the sparrow out of my own pocket. Believe me. My wife has let me know about this more then once. She say I have too many hammocks already. What Dream Hammock did do for me is expedite it. So I could use it on my trip up in the BWCA last may. I hate too say this. But. I have different companies asking me to try out there product and do a review for them. I even had a company ask to do a short or long term contract. @@AdventureswiththeMarine yeah that’s what i thought but i also have a pocket that zips to the inner side of the hammock but that would make the pocket at the foot end … that why i am confused because you would think that pocket would be beside the tag ie head end for easy access
I love my Sparrow, I've used it 3 times, now it's getting cold so I'm searching for an underquilt. I didn't catch which ones you're using. Which would you recommend? Thanks!
Good choice! My favorite hammock as of now. And will be for a long time. Tell me the type of camping that you are going to use it for. What seasons and what would be the coldest temperature you would experience. Under quilts are expensive and I would want you to get the best one for you.
@@AdventureswiththeMarine Mild climate here in NC piedmont, 20 degres is about as cold as it gets. I use the DD Hammocks 10x10 rain fly, also have the pomoly hammock hot tent and pomoly timber wolf 3 wood stove for when it gets really cold here. Thanks!
Thanks Marine, good info................ !
Thank you Jerry. I really appreciate that.
Ok, so I got to ask. This was the first time I felt like the focus was on the product. Was this a paid promotion or free gear video?
I should of said that I was not sponsored by Dream Hammock in any way. I paid for the sparrow out of my own pocket. Believe me. My wife has let me know about this more then once. She say I have too many hammocks already. What Dream Hammock did do for me is expedite it. So I could use it on my trip up in the BWCA last may. I hate too say this. But. They didn't do it because I was special. I believe they would do it for anyone. I always try to do a review that is honest to the best of my ability. I have different companies asking me to try out there product and do a review for them. I even had a company ask to do a short or long term contract. I have turned them all down because my loyalty goes first to the viewers. Not any company. I hope you are not thinking that I am boasting. I am just telling you the truth.
It is always good to hear from the OldPackMule. Thank you for watching. I always appreciate it.
@@AdventureswiththeMarine Thanks man. I appreciate your honesty. I didn't mean to accuse. The focus of this video was product centric, which is fine, just different than your typical. Rock on and God Bless.
Great video Marine, thank you... Id like to ask you which fabric is used for your own hammock, looks very comfortable.
The Sparrow is made of 1.6 HyperD XL. Just the right amount of stretch for my weight ( 220 lbs or 100 kg ) to sleep like a baby. Thank you dudo mmeme for watching. I really appreciate it.
@@AdventureswiththeMarine i thank you, I do appreciate all of your videos, very informative, great job sir! You make us well prepared outdoors.
@@mmeme123254 Thank you. That means a lot.
How do I know which fabric to pick for my sparrow?
What is your height and weight? So I can give you some good options.
