Do you need to have a encryption board installed. Asking because I have 2 XTS 5000 there are supposed to be capable of it but they don't have encryption board installed
Key ID 0001 isnt a problem. Its Key ID 0000 that creates problems in a multi key environment. We had radios with key ID 0000 and 0001 and it created problems. For some reason the radio wouldnt steer to key id 0000 even though its a valid key id. In the Codan docs it says 0000 is not recommended unless the encryption user radios only have 1 key loaded and theyre all key id 0000. Valid KIDs are 0000 - FFFF. So you can get creative if desired instead of using the default 1 - 8, but doing so isnt going to increase security.
Hey rfi.... we have apx 6000s, and 8000s wity the multi key hardware option in mace yet when loading several aes keys it says it has the first key but anything after itll say in the radios key erased..... any thoughts?

if the computer doesn't do anything when you plug the cable in, it sounds like the cable is bad, or you need to load the drivers. I have an old serial cable for my XTS500, so I've never used the USB one.
There is an issue with CPS, IT RUNS NATIVELY ON WINDOWS XP 32 Bit. Many have had no luck running it on 64 bit processor or on more modern versions of windows.

Good advice, I now have a much better setup than I had then. I now have real editing software, and have a computer that can run some of the better programs
ADP was created as a scanner buster. Nothing else. AeS is best and only one secure these days. AdP can be cracked in real time and it's been proven by many.
I agree, but for those that can't afford the high prices big M charges, and don't need high security, it's better than speech inversion. You still need custom sdr software to crack it, which is out of the realm of most radio enthusiasts. I use spread spectrum now anyway
That's the deal, this is for nothing serious, just basically for fun. I know with the right software and an SDR, you can crack it in a few hours. I also don't plan to spend $500-$1000+ for a KVL.

CKR# must match in each radio. Key may be key 5 in another person’s radio, so it’s important to match the CKR#

Yes it is legal on Ham as long you provide the key when asked.
You can not use voice encryption on ham bands in the USA. Part 97 rules clearly states this.

ADP is friggin' 💯% garbage.
I'd use the hardware encryption with DES-XL if you have the proper UCM and KVL to provide moderate security.
