I'm not even remotely interested in the reboot. Reboots and remakes are done by studios too lazy and timid to risk something new. Also, I don't care WHO they put into the parts; they will not be able to match the peerless acting of many of the originals ... many of whom were well-known and well-respected actors in their own rights before they stepped into these roles.
I’ll die on this hill. I love the movies. They hold a special place in my heart. However! As a book reader, I feel there is SO MUCH more to this world that you’re missing being only a movie watcher because they left so much out. Edit: Also, I am fully aware of the challenges that they would face in getting us to love the new actors. I’m not opposed to original content as well.. just include more of the story that was skipped over for budget or time reasons in the movies.
We don’t need a reboot. Just a continuation or new storylines made by competent writers and directors. If it’s because of jks politics then just don’t make it. Literally .1% of the fan base is crying about it. Im all for making your story your own. But you should never bend to will of others. For example, all of the new star wars shows. Look how terrible they are because it’s all forced and not natural. Plus it doesn’t fit the story
They should wait atleast 10 more years to do it, the standard bar should be to make sure the original actors can play their character's father's role; so, Daniel Radcliffe should be able to play James Potter (not that it should be cast like that, only that their ages should be such). This would mark a generational change, If that can happen, the reboot can happen smoothly.
He can. James Potter was 20-21 when he died. Danielle Radcliffe is well past this age and it would satisfy book readers. Wait any longer and we’ll be back in the same boat with the horrible movie timelines.
@@Melifanatique @TaiJustWatches the point I was trying to make, was more about the audience aging to be ready for it; and actors age being taken as reference point for that. Adrian Rowlins was in his mid 40s when he played a 30yo James Potter. (Actors generally don't age like normal people 😀)
I just don't understand, why they want to make a reboot. The franchise would offer so much: - Fantastic Beasts as an actual child show about magical beasts not this weird jack of all trades movie series. - a teen highschool show about growing up in Hogwarts - a crime show about the aurors hunting dark wizards along the lines of criminal minds - a cop show like the rookie about the magical law enforcement squad dealing with behexed whatever There's so much that could be made without touching the original story and messing things up.
A movie where you find out JK Rowling is actually Hermione and is on the run from the ministry of magic for letting all the secrets of the magical world out by writing the Harry Potter book series.
I feel bad for the new actors, even if they do an amazing job, they are going to get hate because of the nostalgia and love for the originals (which I get) but its not fair to them.
10 years is a heck of a commitment, the showrunners of this upcoming series must have taken lessons in smoozing from The Rings of Power team, good luck with that 😬
if you try to rewatch the movies, the first one is honestly pretty rough. If newcomers to the series cant get that one, they wont keep watching the rest. Reboot might be in order. Though I'd prefer if they just told an original story from the same universe.
The fundamental problem is people are disgusted with the poorly written prequals and theatrical sequal to the Harry potter movies and books. They seem to be written by people. That had never read the source matterial and watch bits and pieces of the original movies.
Can't do it; won't watch it. I read the books and watch the movies at least 4 times a year. I've watched many videos on YT regarding the series, and learned more than I ever expected. Planning for 10 years is going to be problematic, especially with mainly kids, all of whom aren't going to age into what many will be expecting based on the movies and books... not to mention 10 years for 8 books; ugh! I'm happy with what I've got.
But there is so much more what was left out of movies or was altered to be more suitable for movies.. for example Hermione's fight for House-elf rights is completely missing in movies and some characters got shockingly small amount of time on screen or were missing - I want more Ginny
Too soon. I would have been more interested if it was in a decade or two. But right now, HP is still very strong as an IP and a reboot is just a terrible idea right now.
Initially, I was not for a reboot. However, if they made a more faithful version in a TV series, including characterization and physical accuracy (Harry's eyes and messy hair; Ron being tall and skinny, Hermione having huge teeth and really really bushy hair) then maybe I might watch it. Lots of story arcs could have been explored. Besides, the current actors being rather ungrateful to the one who gave them their careers... I kind of think they deserve to be forgotten and replaced. However, I would miss Alan Rickman's Snape and Maggie Smith's McGonagall.
How are they "ungrateful"? Disagreeing with her is not being ungrateful. Are you obligated to have the same opinions as your first boss for the rest of your life?
As someone who has a huge nostalgia boner for the franchise and many fond memories: The world does not need a reboot no matter what. For every single aspect a multi season show might get right and more relevant to a current audience, there's at least 10 things that might weigh it down under the pressure of getting it done correctly and down to each detail. This appropriately named minefield reeks of soulless cash grab. Do something fresh instead - There's tons of good fantasy, equally deserving to be brought to the screen imo.
Actor aging is going to be an issue too…it takes them so long to make a season nowadays that by the time book 7 comes around, those are going to be 30 yr olds portraying high schoolers.
A movie series that should be revisited is eragon! That movie was a travesty to the books.. if done right it will be bigger than the lord of the rings. Don't know why no one has looked at this!
@ lol why is it insane? If done right I think it can be. I loved the lotr, but it's not insane to think a movie can do better than another movie. Or at the very least in the same ballpark
@ I’m not saying it wouldn’t have potential but there is a reason why way before the movies existed, the books were viewed as literary classics & the Eragon series are not. I still enjoy them but a snickers bar can never beat a gourmet chocolate cake
The adult actors of the movies were some of the best British actors - there is no chance high sought for actors will agree to a desperately demanding schedule of a TV show that does not give room to anything else for 10 years! No actor in such high demand will agree to put their career on hold for a decade. As for more content, the question is quantity over quality. The main characters are kids which are allowed only a certain amount of hours to work (not even counting in their attention span). So more content would mean an overwhelming amount of CGI - what probably will be the case - instead of actual storytelling and acting or/and using everything remotely passable with the child actors to fill the required time. And I don't even want to think about the now so popular "rase and gender" swaps (often completely diaregarding the time period the story is taking part) instead of creating new and original stories for such characters which is just cheap. Why on earth not finish the Fantastic Biests or explore another part like the Marauders era and even then I would rather be inclined to high quality Movies instead of a TV series, because the chance to get high quality actors is much higher that way because... Good acting and a compelling story is always better than a regurgitation of something with half or more time of just CGI action sequences without any real content.
As someone who grew up reading harry potter then getting to adulthood and having the movies come out I do not want a reboot. It was iconic. They messing up just like game of thrones, charmed, etc
She said she doesn’t think one of my best friends exists as they see themself… imagine someone said they don’t think you are a valid person because of the way you were born
It probably is a mistake to reboot the core franchise so early, however, I do think there is potential. The Harry Potter series has always felt like it would be more suited for a television series than a set of movies, the rich world and myriad of subplots needs the time and attention that can only be afforded by episodic storytelling. Get it right, and it could well replace the original films as the definitive adaptation. There is truth that some parents looking to get their children into the franchise who have been too young to watch the films until now may well choose to start with the series instead. A risk, and perhaps a touch too soon, but there is hope.
Are you kidding?? This is like the only chance to get rid of dramione shippers by portraying a book accurate ugly Draco and a poc Hermione. Don't take that away from me
Unless you’re gonna follow the books to the letter, then jog on. I hated the last Harry Potter movie with a passion. They botched the final show down. They ruined the wand storyline.
I think what we all wanted and needed was movies about Voldemort's story, about Dumbledore, Snape, the Potter's, the first war, the deathly hallows, Flitwick, McGonagall, the creation of Hogwarts, the birth of magic, other schools, the future maybe... but nope. WE NEED A REBOOT WTFFFFF? we had the perfect actors and they have wasted it. We don't want to make a copy of the world of today cuz IT WAS 90S please move on i don't need a ron non binary and a hermione pansexual.. i hate that and I am lgbt. please
for some reason book 2 , 4 and 6 were really good. and all odd numbered books were absolute garbage as were the movies. dont think anyone needed that 5th film. But now imagine a series with around 10 hrs worth a book and a production cycle of 1-2 years you know it will only spark interest every 4 years and the rest is a redo of an already bad source material that turned into mediocre movies turned into a series. doomed!
Honestly, it is entirely possible to do the story better. Will that be what happens? Idk. Kinda sad to say though, I won't be watching it. Should have done founders then Dumbledore, then Voldemort, then the marauders, everything leading up to a Harry Potter reboot, with the original marauders ready for year 3, then a good next gen story that actually fits in the world
They would be much better off trying to create a better next generation series than this. Just get Rowling to sign off on paying g gordon libert a few 100k for the rights to the James potter series. Which is better than anything. That was in fantasic beasts or the cursed child
I liked the books & films but, have never been a huge fan. Stil, all I can say is WTF!!!!!! Amazon & the Lord of the Rings strikes again! I have never watched that junk & won't watch this upcoming Dreck!
Isn't kind of early to reboot it any way like shouldn't the ones who grow up with this be very old if not dead before you reboot things I'm 36 and read yes read the first harry Potter in the 7th or 8th grade it's not old enough to reboot
You really do need to separate the art from the artist. This is true in most art forms. If they manage to keep personal opinions out their art can be appreciated by a wider audience
Well… yes and no… it‘s a big issue if the artist ist still alive and as vocal as J. K. Rowling. She actively injects her views into the Wizarding World and has the last word on basically all creative decisions regarding Harry Pooter. She at least made sure to hold onto that control with the theme park areas - so I‘d assume this is true for all Wizarding World content.
@ yes I would agree. As I stated if they manage to separate the two the art can be appreciated by all. I haven’t listened too much to her personal opinions.
Let me get this straight: Harry Potter is the best-selling book series in history with 600 million copies sold worldwide with the fourth highest grossing movie franchise of all time as the adaptation… and their plan is to start the whole thing from scratch? 😂😉 Good luck…
If it weren’t for the transphobia I would have been interested in seeing a series. I thought the chapter like quality of a series would work really well with the style of Harry Potter. It would have been interesting to see characters like Peeves and Charlie Weasley brought back into the story. It would have been worth it if just for a redemption of Ginny’s character alone. But then there she goes spouting hate.
The movies failed in showing that Harry parents were racista bullies, that is pretty important in building the story and Harry's character. Also Snape sacrifice and Dumbledore evil wrongdoings are not clear due to cuts being made in the movies.
@@RHColeyou clearly have misunderstood that guy’s comment he’s joking around about the actor that’s being eyed to play snape in the reboot series and jokeing about how they claim that they want to do a much more faithful adaptation of the books when HBO is doing the exact opposite of it with casting
The movies started cratering when the 1st Dumbledore actor passed and he was replaced by the emo guy that always yelled and screamed like an emotional child that lacks boundaries (3rd movie iirc).
Oh really is that what you think did you ever look up her controversial tweets on Twitter about Transgender people or the fact that she regrets making Hermione Granger white and wished she was black and here’s something very interesting I have heard that she is very homophobic and very racist there is literally thousands of videos of it on TH-cam but hey you’re going to deny this because you don’t want to accept facts
What are your thoughts on the Harry Potter reboot?

No, they wasn’t. They was 10 years old when they started you pillock
For real!
but I mean I’m still gonna watch it tho.
Made it 3:42 into the video before the reader's voice drove me insane. He ends every sentence with the same inflection. Couldn't finish.
I just checked, I made it to 3. 30! It's bloody awful 😂
I atleast hope they let the poltergeist get his screen time
They couldn't come up with a continuation or a original ip so lets just keep recycling until it looks like Voldemort's shriveled and desiccated soul.
The Substance ref and not Voldemort's shriveled and dessicated soul? Missed opportunity
Nobody can replace Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid…. NOBODY
Peter Dinklage can.

Harry is now a black lesbian 😂
Why
I’m excited for the series.
I think everybody wants an international school that brings in students from all over the world
Hbo does justice to their series but modern adaptation comes with forced wokeness "jk said there wouldn't be any" 😬
The movies failed in showing that Harry parents were racista bullies, that is pretty important in building the story and Harry's character. Also Snape sacrifice and Dumbledore evil wrongdoings are not clear due to cuts being made in the movies.
Excuse me, what? I am a fan of Snape and heartily dislike James, but when was James ever shown to be a racist? Or, for that matter, Lily?
@@RHColeyou clearly have misunderstood that guy’s comment he’s joking around about the actor that’s being eyed to play snape in the reboot series and jokeing about how they claim that they want to do a much more faithful adaptation of the books when HBO is doing the exact opposite of it with casting
The movies started cratering when the 1st Dumbledore actor passed and he was replaced by the emo guy that always yelled and screamed like an emotional child that lacks boundaries (3rd movie iirc).
....ok then.. 🤨

I don't get the controversy with jk.. she didn't say anything bad. Everyone just wants to start drama for nothing
