I think it was done around 1987 and he missed the entire 87-88 season recuperating from injuries he suffered in a motorcycle accident. He would have been another in a long line of mustache, that's for sure.
He and Steve Bozek I think, were dealt to the Blues for the 88 playoff run that failed anyway. The Flames got a quality backup in Rick Wamsley and a former all-star defenseman in Rob Ramage. Did ok for them, but was a steal and a huge boon for St. Louis. Brett would get 41 in 88-89 but then scored an astounding 339 goals in the next 5 years (228 between 89-92). Flames got some revenge by swapping players including 50-goal sniper Bullard for playoff warrior Gilmour. What goes around comes around!

I really hope our Oilers meet the Flames in the playoffs this year. I don't think they can come back and take the division with the way some of the Flames have been playing this year but it would be an absolute spectacle to see the battle of alberta rekindled playoff style. The respective city winning would likely burn to the ground in riots :S

Roberts has sure bulked up (roids anyone?), Bullard thinks he's a rock star (Vernon pretends he's Barry White or something), McCrimmon just looks high and Nattress probably WAS high. I don't really see Mullen, Tonelli, Nieuwendyk or Loob so well. Are they even in there?
Maybe if they were all Oilers it would have been a bit gayer, maybe that is why nobody wants to play in that terrible city unless they are getting overpaid.
