    Just caught up with nbr 2 here love the console looks great, She floats beauty for sure. Looks to be a really great family adventure . All the best to you and family and kudos for stepping out and making it work. I am building a houseboat as well just at pontoon and framing for deck stage now but winter pretty much shut me down. I will be posting photos of it next spring after the snow is gone.

    I've watched this video over and over because it's in my opinion, the best houseboat hull design I've seen yet. Can I download some plans from you? You have to be a carpenter by trade? I bet your boys love going out on the boat.

    Curious about the roofing. How far apart are the 2 x 4 rafters, what thickness plywood, and what did you waterproof and cover it with? Is it designed to be walked on?

    Cheap pine framing, waferboard gussets, Internal moisture will destroy that construction in a very few years. Its fine to have marine ply hull but take it from a boat builder experienced in repair work for forty years humidity inside creates the most damage to framing not the hull.

      @@edyrud2445 Never used cedar myself, other than canoe planking. Its soft especially white cedar so doesn't hold screws well , fibres crush. Cedar also has natural resins although white or eastern cedar has far less than western red cedar which help against rot but prevent most adhesives gripping well. Just not a framing choice up this way. I will add I have seen many a cedar plank boat rotted as well. Wish we had cypress up this way but white oak is the best we have locally for framing .

  • @MyouKyuubi
    @MyouKyuubi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a flimsy-ass houseboat. >_>
    That hull is immensely fragile, lol.

    • @MyouKyuubi
      @MyouKyuubi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dani Hope In what world is a WOODEN HULL, made of fkin PLYWOOD "sturdy"? xD
      There is a goddamn house on top of that hull, ONE SINGLE POINTY ROCK is all it takes for it to sink.
      What do you mean... "Sturdy"?

    • @MyouKyuubi
      @MyouKyuubi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dani Hope Fiberglass is okay, i guess, but whatever they used isn't NEARLY thick enough, considering the weight of the whole thing.
      The hull is still incredibly fragile, if that thing bumps into ANYTHING. The weight of the house, will ENSURE the hull breaks, immediately.

    • @MyouKyuubi
      @MyouKyuubi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dani Hope The thickness of the plywood, is fkin IRRELEVANT, lmao.
      And no, a PROPER boat, does not sink if it "hits anything"...
      "What ever kiddo. If you don't believe me look up how boats are made at home."
      Homemade boats are precisely the problem, dipsht... A carpenter you might be, but a shipwright you are not, "kiddo"...

    • @MyouKyuubi
      @MyouKyuubi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dani Hope "what crawled up your ass???"
      You did.
      "But who really cares what they have done it's theirs do to with what they please."
      And i warned them... Is there a problem?
      "Plus I'm 25 years older than you so yes you are a kiddo to me!"
      You have no fkin' idea what my age is, you condescending know-it-all.
      "It's a freggan house boat."
      Exactly a person is meant to LIVE ON it, it's meant to carry important belongings. So it's doubly important that it's sturdy and doesn't sink, even if you didn't dock the housebat correctly overnight.
      A boat should only sink if you handle it CATASTROPHICALLY wrong... But that boat is gonna sink at even the SLIGHTEST mistake.
      What the fck did you think saying "It's a freggan house boat" was gonna do, exactly? Refute me, somehow? ._.
      "You really need to take that massive wedgie out of your panties. Mello out."
      When someone patronizes me, i no longer respect them.
      Word of advice, a-hole... It doesn't matter how old you are, calling someone "kiddo" is condescending.
      I will rip you a new butthole, if that's what it takes to teach an old dog some humility.

    • @MyouKyuubi
      @MyouKyuubi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Dani Hope Well, i guess you truly can't teach an old dog new tricks, then.
      You thought that was a good thing? It's sad to think that you're stuck being a condescending prck for the rest of your life, it's not something to be happy about. : /
