I have compared the PRL I/C with yours and definitely "size" matters for optimum benefit. Since I own the CVT and remaining on the stock tune, I would recommend just procuring the I/C itself without the piping. The mitigating factors between the two brands are that PRL tested their I/C with a CAI + DP/FP and increased the size of both charge pipes. Yes, that does increase the breathing and exhaust flow; however, one would need a tune due to the increased air volume; especially with the DP/FP. For those with a CVT that wish to keep both their IAT post temps down and maintain the longevity of the CVT, I would highly recommend the Mishimoto I/C with or without the piping. QUESTION for Mishimoto: Since your I/C is in essence 102% greater in volume than stock; Is there increased "turbo lag" with your I/C on a stock tune?

The intercooler will install and run fine on a stock tune. Keep in mind that because of the increased volume without a new you will notice a slight lag in response. However it will safely run without the tune.

Since my civic is already hitting 24 psi I don't believe I have flow issues, so by increasing piping size will that reduce velocity in the air and increase lag in the turbo?
Hey Awsom Sauce100, installing a larger diameter pipe can reduce stress on the turbo and allow it to spool a little quicker in most applications, effectively reducing the turbo lag and increasing horsepower slightly. You'll get more with a tune, but it can help the engine's responsiveness a little even on the stock ECU setup. This will depend on the vehicle however as some will see opposite effects without additional tuning. Once we finish up our testing, we will have more details for the CTR!

The MMINT-CIV-16 kit shouldn't provide any noticeable difference with lag. The core may be larger but it flows much better than stock.

How different is this from the billet tank setup in prl intercooler??
