Prabhakar Hegde moved from his native Sirsi in Uttara Kannada to Bengaluru in the nineties to earn a livelihood. He found employment at the iconic Veena Stores in Malleshwaram, and after a few years of working there decided that cooking and serving tiffin was his calling. He went on to open a tiny store in Vidyaranyapura, a far flung locality in North Bengaluru, 23 years ago, a place so remote that back then only a handful of buses would ply there each day. However today, the area has grown into a bustling suburb, and so has Hegde’s Fast Food which is now a cornerstone of the neighbourhood for its idli, vade and a couple of other thindi items. Having received a bunch of recommendations in support of this shop, I visited Hegde impromptu for a chat one evening with him, and also with the locals who have monikered this place as the Veena Stores of Vidyaranyapura.

sir I was born and bought up here some 23 years bk wen v moved here used to say this is out of benagaluru map now seein so much of developement around vidyaranyapura and yelhanka new town I feel very happy tat my parents r having one 30*40 site there nd another house of 42*64 in yelhanka new town wer v have built a small house for ourself ...so many eateries have opened up there thanks for covering this part of Bengaluru ...wer many retiress stay

On Every Sunday in the Mornings we were visiting Durga Parameshwari Temple and while returning we used have Breakfast Here. Especially Idli , Vade and Upma. This Video Took me back to 2010 Memories. Thanks Sir❤❤

Amazing. One small suggestion to the owner of the shop is to try replacing the plastic spoon with something more sustainable. Otherwise looks delicious.
The Idleis and vadas are just wonderful, mouthwatering and with addition of Saambaar, we can eat our way to glory.

Mr.Hegde seems an honest to goodness, genuine person... Combined with no-frills food items at affordable prices, this is the kind of eatery which is synonymous with traditional Bengaluru. 👏
Unfortunately the so-called "modern" localities Koramangala, Whitefield, and CBD areas like MG Road, Brigade Road are filled with western branded chains serving unhealthy foods like Pizza, burger 👎

Kashaya after eating something oily and spicy eases up the stomach to a certain degree... It's more of a drink in line with tea and coffee around here... Actually In functions tea and kashaya are made and we have to ask for coffee specifically if we want it...

Being a Sirsi person it's nice to see our town person became famous in an eatery .
One thing I came to know that In Bangalore if you know how to cook Idly, Vada, Rice bath, Kabab, Non Veg Biriyani, Gobi, Egg fried rice, Coffee, Tea and Pani puri then you will def earn in lakhs.

The owner says idli over even after waiting for 30 minutes that’s not the right thing to do … the problem with these kinda popular eateries is they prefer to take care of regular visitors than people who are visiting them first time like me … and that’s not agreeable .
