You are a excellent electrician. Are you Union . I live in Georgia and I have general knowledge and control voltage knowledge but my electrician back in 1986 had 2 three way circuits with the travelers reversed and this was inspected by a building inspector I went to Home Depot and looked on the back of the switch schematic and found the line and the load and re wired the lights. Unbelievable 1986 in Georgia. New home . Several circuits up in the attic were a junction box was there were no covers placed on them and the wires were not all connected. It was amazing that our house didn’t burn down. Also he ran aluminum wire without applying nolox. So the breaker burnt up and I had to replace that with another 150amp breaker for the panel for 1580 sq ft house.
So, many people make mistakes, but when they are not doing the simple things then I think they are being lazy. Although, you are incorrect about two things; #1 one should never apply Nolox on a breaker, unless it is rated for it. #2 if you do your own Diox or Nolox you are suppose to do this with today's standards and NOT JUST APPLY UNDER A TWIST PRESSURE CAP!. Remember that codes change every three years and from 1986 the standards of manufactures and the WHITE BOOK have gotten safer and more restrictive. TH-cam is a helpful tool, but it does not make one a professional in another person's field. It is not a credited trade school.
whenever people "I am surprised the house didnt BURN DOWN" I stop listening. Understand an obvious thing, there are homes that were wired way back in 1950 that are STILL here, and people live in them. If I were to wire using the same standards they used today, people would swear i was "going to burn the house down" then they post an insult at me and promptly go back to their girlfriends house who has a house wired in 1950! LOL Codes change, but that doesnt imply that the previous method was reckless and causing fires everywhere. Many times vendors themselves have a hand in code changes and money has a part in it. Unions had parts in changes that favor them as well.
so this apartment, is going to be billed with the house because there is no separate meter. If you wanted that to be billed separately, then I gotta come from the mast, and place two meter socket with disconnects built in, and then run up to the apartment, to a lug only panel like you have here, right?. And another from 2 gang meter socket to the main house panel. Yes?
In this case no...only if this panel was a main lug panel and he was feeding a breaker on the bus instead of the main lugs. He did not need a hold down kit for the breaker feeding the upstairs panel. Though it does not hurt, $5 part.
if you are not an experienced electrician and have a fire caused by electrical work you have done. Make sure you tell the fire inspector (one will show up right away) and your insurance company that the guy on the internet taught you everything you need to know. I am sure they will be impressed.
how many fires have you seen done by electrical work by a homeowner? EEEEEEVVVVVRRRRRYYYONE on the internet claims to know fire after fire after fire that happened due to electrical issues. the fear factor is deafening
Listening to the video was great and the NEC code was explained very well, but the camera delay and the advertisement banner destroyed the video for viewing .
Min. requirement on living and bed rooms are 15 amp, dining and kitchen's are 20 amps. You can always wire in a 20 amp on power plugs every where, just a pain to trim out.

Yah, four way and three way decor switches can get mixed up pretty easy if not looking twice.

4:32 - Is a breaker hold-down required for a subfeed? I thought it was only for back-feed?
Yes your are right about the back feed, solar and if your feeding a main lug panel to a breaker disconnect on the bus bar that stabs.
So in this case it wasn't required, right?

sbelknap83 - Thanks! Glad I’m not crazy :)
truthsmiles No problem

Good vid. Electric cars are stupid anyway.
Agreed!, it cost twice as much to change the batteries then a Honda's engine.
