  • Interested in knowing more about tensile fabric structures and the technology behind them? From yurts made out of animal skins to modern and even futuristic building schemes, this video series shows just how exciting and inspiring tensile membranes can be.
This video is part one in a four part overview of how tensile fabric structures can benefit a design scheme.
Part one introduces fabric structures as a building method and provides an overview of the materials which can be used and the forms which can be created.
Parts two, three and four talk more in depth about the benefits, practicalities and processes involved in taking a tensile fabric structure from scheme design to practical completion and beyond.
    Part Two

Hi Anthony, glad you enjoyed the presentation. We have heard of hdpe and given the types of projects we work on, hdpe would not be a good fit. Thanks for the offer though. Jason

what software was used to create the 3d models? i am currently using ads max and having difficulty to achieve the realistic fall and tension. any help with this would be great, thank you.

+fairo www.marvelousdesigner.com/product/overview/ used in games and enterainment and fashion for cloth sim. could do some interesting stuff in architecture i'd think. so far only simple arch applications in gallery. potential is there i think to use to explore ideas rapidly. you'd probably want some autodesk structural engineering software for the real cad model

In response to your question - back in the day, we would hand sketch tensile structures on paper. Today, with advances in technology, we use specialist software designed for our business to develop tensile fabric patterns and shapes. It's an exciting time to be in the industry.
