I ended up managing to Smith my own martial artists tonfa with purity. I'll drop it on my revenant (plus the other gear) when I get home from work (4:30pm London time, approx 11:30 USA time). Will be dropping it at the river in "mysterious one night castle" None of it is min/maxed yet though.
Saw a tonfa gun/Raging Strike confusion build for Tonfa's and it was STUPID. Boss just died instantly from spaming R2 move imbued with fire into demon dance heaven (Raging Strike) in high stance, pretty hilarious to watch the HP bar too.
I followed this build as closely as I could, though I was never able to get the dual swords that match. So I went with all pieces of the One-Eyed Dragon set and went between a corruption and purity tonfa set (mostly the former but used the latter on the final boss). This let me break into DotWise for the first time (failed with fists and splitstaff). Great build!
I wasnt enjoying nioh 2 until i picked up the tonfa, i guess it suited my play style. It was the only weapon in early game that im able to break Ki for almost all opponents. Currently paired it with an axe/hammer and im just having fun in my first playthrough
Thanks for the build. While I am in my first playthrough, the philosophy behind the build is key and can be used from start of the game. It really made things very very easy for me. The only frustrating opponent I faced in the first playthrough was Shibata Katsuie when at equal level to him. Almost made me quit since everything else literally melted in front of tonfa tank and I got a challenge first time. Shibata had just too much health. But with farming to 1 or 2 levels above him, could defeat him for good. Rest of the bosses literally melted. Like all of them. I wonder though if this build is broken because we seem not to have to try and dodge and play strategically. So I wonder if this was intended or left as a cheesy build to enjoy with by the devs.
I slept super hard on tonfas because although I love the idea of them, they were pretty bottom tier in Nioh 1. Then I tried experimenting with them in Nioh 2, and boy, did I ever misjudge them. Thought they would be this super boring defensive tank weapon, but in actuality is an absolute BEAST at shredding Ki and keeping constant pressure on the enemy. 11/10, would recommend to at least give them a go if anyone's here just window-shopping builds to try
I was trying to do this almost exact build on my new game+ run once I saw One Eyed Dragon Armor was in the game. Just no luck getting the purity element on my Tonfas, so I settled for stacking damage to poisoned enemies instead.
This build can function with tonfa gun, if you pause slightly after a demon dance you can do a regular quick attack into devastation before you lose the cumulative buff. It's a little tight. Best time for this is right after you get confusion off.
I didn't think I'd like tonfa because I refused to use em in nioh 1 and 2 up till this year. I'll tell you now, I never thought I'd love using them this much. I love enemies not having any ki ever. But it does kinda suck fighting some bosses starting off.

Did a similar build but went with water instead of purity. 61.73% saturation accumulation with tonfas puts effect almost immediately with 30+% debuff and one eyed dragon set...it’s nasty ! Lol and I haven’t put the finishing touch’s on it with tembering
Funny thing is i grinded got my stats up to about 305 to start this build. Only thing that took me forever to get was that one eyed dragon smithing text. I had to fight william about 15 times to get it. But finally im gonna make this build
Like i said 36 stamina does NOT cover remodeled gear...my +6 one eyed dragon pants went from 8.1 to 8.2 so that explains why with four pieces i need 40 weight at all four +7...now i need 42

I’ve been playing your purity build and it’s wrecking! One question, when going down the line on stats you say that skill is left at base. How do you get the buff when there’s a skill requirement on the anima bonus (saturated enemy) on Yaonami-Hime?

Yes this is correct i have each element core at 160/9 didn't take that long with the one soul core increase Core and appropriate cores to increase soul core drop rate and of course kodama blessing/kodama bowl.
Yes, ramp up your Luck and Item drop rate as high as possible including on Yoki shift and just farm him untill they drop. I had 80% Item drop rate from multiple sorces and 200+ luck from multiple sorces and had a smith text drop each run!
Okay I decided I will go to the forge and just see... first tonfa rolled purity on it.... bam! And I like this one better than using the gun sticks honestly.

this is confusing. towards the beginning of the video you say you cant craft tonfas with purity and then 3 seconds later you say that you need to either keep crafting tonfas until you roll one with purity or find one in world? so can you craft them or not?
@@OD91MJ No he didn't. I had the same armor at the same + values as him, remodelled to reinforce. The weight values were identical. As soon as I went to +3 (while reinforced), the weight went up by 0.1. So it's possible adam has higher + value armor pieces than shown in the video (and more than 36 stamina can handle).

@@FightinCowboy exactly. I tried running it with odachi and I almost died a bunch of times. Usually run tatenashi set with odachi which works really well. My character barely dies. Very tanky. After switching to imakami set(the fire set). My character gets destroyed by goddamn gakis. So I was confused at what exactly am I doing wrong. Also the damage output isn't that great. Will probably switch to another element
@@nooch8503 - That is actually the answer, specific weapons form specific rolls. Way I did it, when I played this game ages ago was to save my game data and upload it to online storage, then go ham, do 20 or so rolls, if you like what you see, great, and if not you can just download your save and retry :D

Yup, this is a very potent build for something that's purposely avoiding several "best-in-slot" options, I'm quite impressed with it.
depentds your play style i play axe odachi but im very noob on phantom and feral counter :( .soo i use brute with ligth domg etc

True, I main tonfas myself and it’s the one weapon that doesn’t imbue purity. I think Team Ninja did that for good reason

The farming gods have rewarded me. I didnt know if I had a purity tonfa so I decided to look. Turns out I have a 160 divine one with purity. Fuck yes.

It's a split requirement, you don't need skill if you reach the cap with the other stat

It's worth mentioning that you cannot temper Pulverize: Heaven Damage onto your gear, you must inherit it

No he said there isn't any tonfas that has a garunteed purity roll on them. You can however fish for a pair through repetitive crafting.
How did you get pulverize heaven damage? I've been tempering forever, and I've never seen it. Never seen it on anything actually

How about a Kusa focused build? The ninja build doesn't count as the kusa is more of a fashion accessory for that one.
They use the same stats. Take the half kappa yokai man's armor. Basically all u can do

The two fire sets are light and medium weight which aren't very Odachi friendly
