  • In the video I give a couple things to look out for when bidding a stump removal job. I also grind and remove several stumps in the video out in Madison. Bidding on a stump removal job requires careful consideration of several key factors to ensure a successful and profitable outcome. Firstly, it's crucial to assess the size and complexity of the stump. Larger stumps or those with extensive root systems may require specialized equipment and more labor-intensive processes, which can impact your costs and time estimates. Additionally, consider the accessibility of the stump. Stumps located in tight spaces or difficult-to-reach areas may necessitate extra effort and equipment, influencing your pricing strategy. Moreover, take into account any potential obstacles such as nearby structures, utilities, or landscaping features that could affect the removal process. Understanding these variables allows you to provide accurate quotes and mitigate unforeseen challenges. Furthermore, consider the disposal method for the stump and debris-whether you'll haul it away or use a chipper on-site-and factor in associated disposal fees. Lastly, be transparent with your clients about the timeline, potential disruptions, and any post-removal services such as site cleanup or stump grinding to ensure clear expectations and customer satisfaction. By carefully assessing these aspects, you can confidently bid on stump removal jobs and deliver quality service while maximizing profitability.

That's one hell of a stump grinder. Definitely better than the walk-behind models I've seen that beat the hell out of you.

Thanks, Clint. That stump grinder has served me very well for fourteen years. I have had to do maintenance on it from time to time. Thanks for watching!

Y'all must not have the rocky soil we have here in Arkansas. I've watch several videos and have heard you hit one yet. I'd have at least one per stump sometimes there will be a ring of them where the owners have picked them up in the yard for years and thrown them under the trees. Or the trees be growing out of rock. Some even in the stumps. Makes it hard on the teeth.

Why do you not approach stumps next to concrete 100% perpendicular so at your max arch you don't touch it while swinging?
I heard you hit the concrete at 3:50

I don't most of the time. The ditch was so wet I couldn't get it at that angle.

Each truck carries 4 on the trailer standing straight up, in some easy custom made brackets. I have had the same mats for 5 years.

Dana, In the city we have to haul off but in the county. You can leave sixteen cubic feet worth. They would pull my licenses in town.

you should cover a video about people that dont pay, and if you make them sign a contract that gives you authority to put a mechanics lein on their house if you dont get paid.

Ryan, I never been in that situation personally so far knock-on wood. I will give a thought to how to add it in. If you got a story, I want to hear it. Thanks for watching

@Ryan Watson I'd always have a contract regardless of the type of work you do for someone. Generally, you don't have to have a contract to file a lien. You sign an affidavit stating that you did the work and that goes with the lien. Most states require that you sent a letter demanding payment first, prior to filing the lien.
