+++ MISSION OBJECTIVES +++
The Primary objective is Take the Lair:
Players score 5 victory points for each of the following conditions they achieve at the end of each of their command phases:
Control 1 or more objectives
Control 2 or more objectives
Control more objectives than their opponent
Players can also achieve a secondary objectives which will score 20 points each:
Destroy the Queen: The Ultramarines Score 20 points for destroying the Patriarch
Light the Beacon, Cometh the Star Children: The Genestealer Cults score 20 points if the Patriarch survives.
++ MISSION RULES ++
Mother from the Stars: Whilst Mother is on the battlefield, the Patriarch cannot be targeted by ranged attacks, Smites or Witchfires.
Mother has 15W, T7, 4+ save, and can’t be targeted by psychic powers, with the exception of the Protect Mother Psychic Action below.
Protect Mother (Warp charge 5): This Psychic Action can be performed at the beginning of the psychic phase and is completed at the end of your turn. If successful Mother has a 5+ invulnerable save until the start of your next psychic phase, or until the caster is destroyed, whichever is sooner.
Destroy the Tendrils: One unit within range of an Objective Marker they control can start this action at the beginning of the shooting phase. the Action is completed at the end of the fight phase. Once completed, Mother suffers D3 mortal wounds.

Part 3 could be something like a kill team game or something where the surviving marines have to run the gauntlet through the chaos in the upper hive

If you like that, you might really enjoy what GFN Gaming is doing on his Kill Team specific channel. There is literally a game where a squad of marines have to run through a gauntlet of genestealers as a ship crumbles around them
Or scattered remnants try to hold out until Guilliman and his armada show up

I do love me Primaris, but GODAMN, is it cool to see the classic Marines we all grew up with on the tabletop once more (without counting armies that only have Firstborn like Grey Knights, Ravenwing, etc).
I also enjoyed the commentary on transhuman physiology 😂
this game was epic. NArrative games are the bestest. The outro was also a beauty. And yes, Artemis is now finally deaded.

They are. I think they were the last non-primaris unit to be released for marines

I'd say that centurion has earned a promotion. At the very least his Crux Terminatus.
This one was a wild ride from start to finish. Love how the Firstborn have to show the noobs how its done.

As someone new to cults having been given ~950 points from my dad, I'm curious looking into how to get these working. That said, I'm rooting for that lone centurion sergeant, go get em! Also, lesson learned from this that you may be able to dodge bullets but not a wall of literal fire
Hit first, hit hard, and kill enough to survive the response. Oh, and do what you see here in the match. Use strategic reserves on a couple units with CP allowing. Just to ensure one of your melee units can't be shot at the first turn.
EDIT: The following is a gimmick from the old codex and no longer works.
There's also a gimmick you can do that you don't see often on these youtube channels. The wording on the blips allows a single model to be deployed within one inch but not be forced to setup within the area limitation. Only multiple model units are subjected to that. So, you can put a unit and a character or two in a transport. Set the blip up on the edge of the deployment. And then put the transport within one inch but otherwise well outside the deployment zone (several inches of free movement). Move the transport up its full ten inches. Followed by deploying all your models to its front and within three inches. Then try to charge with that unit using a strat that allows you to roll three dice and choose the highest. You get a unit of acolyte's with melee weapons seventeen inches up the board, give or take an inch. With the smaller board sizes it's often an easy turn one charge with a hard hitting unit. Do this with two transports to hit two sides of the enemies forward deploying units. And you'll do substantial damage while also clogging up their movement. Allowing your other units to focus on objectives and secondaries the first two turns. With GSC, you do as much damage and score as much points as you can in the first three turns. Because you typically won't survive to see turn four or five. The only reason this match was so close was due to Beard failing an obscene number of rolls.
@@keldor8302 third bullet point on revealing ambush markers: "set up one model from that unit within 1" of the centre of the ambush marker, wholly within your deployment zone and more than 9" away from enemy models. Then remove that ambush marker." Kinda puts a kibosh on the party bus idea you had.
So far I've only played a ~toughy 750 point game vs custodes and got leathered, admittedly shadow keepers -1 attack hurts big time. Crossfire seems pretty easy to get with stuff like grenade launchers and seismic cannons, perhaps 10 neophyte hybrids with launchers ans seismic setting up crossfire for another 10 with mining lasers or maybe even jackal wolfquads with lasers. I've not necessarily got an effective fighting force as its only the contents of the start collecting and the Shadowthrone box but I have learned some bits, mainly that 20 neophyte hybrids is not enough. Ridge runners are kinda squishy but do hit fairly hard and are good for crossfire as well with the missile launcher. Flamers as well due to the 5 hits for crossfire markers, doesn't say successful hit rolls so that's something else to keep in mind
@@hammer1349 You're right, my apologies. It was a wording thing that was addressed with the newer codex. I thought it was still in effect and will need to have a talk with my local GSC player about cheesing his games using the old codex's wording over the new one.

GSC in a bad spot, if you bring anything other than fun stuff you curb stomp them. Fun game, great matchup and good banter otherwise! Always a good watch.

I have not watched a game with you lot in about 4 months. I come back to very satisfying game play and very nice play by play camera work. I love the movement phase camera work, i also love the special effects to point out the actions of each squad! Also, the humor and "special effects" during the banter made me LOL. 10/10 will watch again, thank you all.

Genuinely laughed out loud when Beard shouted it's not a phase. Nothing worse than a high strength, one shot weapon just doesn't play ball.

I am glad, Beard managed it to kill the Patriarch, i have to say i am a sinner and had doubt in my mind in the beginning. And it was a close call. His dice throws remind me of my dice luck, it sucks sometimes.....most of the times.

question about multipliers, say you get a plus one strength from a waaaagh or a psychic power do you add that plus immediately or when the melee phase starts then do you stack the plus before or after a weapon gives you and additional multiplier say like a power claw which is X2 strength?
Maths is pain, but this stuff does use the standard order of operations. Example: S4 with x2 on the weapon profile is 8. Getting swol on the warp is +1. The final total is S9.
Doesn't the primaris apothecary have two pistols? Should he not be shooting both into the abominant instead of just one?
