    The demo just shows that the pro one is simply one of the best sounding monosynths that ever existed. It's soundstage is perfection and makes its oscillators and filter come out of speakers like the way that other monosynths simply don't. My personal opinion is the pro one was the very best mono synth of the 80s. Good demo.

      I had one then, I had to keep a guitar tuner hooked up to it because it drifted so badly out of tune. Other than that killer bass sounds.

      I think the Pro One is the best mono ever made of all time. I don’t think anybody has ever come close. It’s definitely aggressive and very hard to tame so not for everyone, but it’s def for me 😄

    the Pro One was one of my main synths for years in the late 80s and 90s have to admit they did a good job capturing the sound, it sounds cleaner than my old wonky original but it's very close, always liked the mini matrix gave a lot of options over many monos and a great oscillator sync

      Great choice V-Cious, of all the Beh clones the Pro-1 is the most versatile. I've had mine 6 months now & absolutely love it, so much so that I'm getting a 2nd next week despite the $50 price rise here in Aust.
      Something else that's sensational though is the Wasp, if that suits your tastes, superb build quality, & totally unique. I have 3 Wasps, fat outputs coupled through a Beh MX882 then into my guitar rig, sounds huge. BTW the inadvertent re-triggering problem in the 2020s was fixed last year with firmware upgrade V2.0. I'm waiting to see what Beh make of the Oberheims. Enjoy, this is the Golden age of synthesis.

      Thank you! At the moment this one is my favourite but I might be a bit biased because I always really loved that Pro 1 sound! In terms of production I feel that at least for the genres that I am producing the Pro 1 gets me to the sound in my head a bit faster. The Cat can sometimes need a bit of taming but then also sounds absolutely wonderful!

    Amazing demo. How are you feeling about this Pro-1 a year+ since making this video? I'm here from peripheral searches on the Pro-800-is that something you're going to pick up? I'm now sitting here imagining a little rack of this and the 800, with a KeyStep....

    • @lundsweden
      @lundsweden ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have both the Pro 1 and the 800. The Pro 1 is definately better for bass and to some degree leads. Pro-800 is probably a better all rounder though, if I had to have just one I'd go for it due to the polyphony and memories. The Pro-800 doesn't sound as ballsy though.

  • @christdolphin69
    @christdolphin69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    whats going on around 13:28? is it playing a recorded sequence and you are playing an untracked osc 1 separately overtop of the playing sequence? or do you have it sequenced externally? i dont remember exactly how the poly mode works on the pro-1 but that's very cool

  • @ebbewertz3417
    @ebbewertz3417 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    A question for the pro-1:
    Does the external Input go though the filter, lfo and envelopes just like the oscillators? Because would that make it possible to use (polyphonic)samples, played on a computer with midi keyboard, to replace the oscillators (and still trigger the envelope by connecting the same midi keyboard to the synth but with both oscillators mixed to zero)?
    (also, I suppose it wouldn't get additional noise to my input since it uses the same knob on the mixer, or does it?)
    Please let me know.

    • @sub-jec-tiv
      @sub-jec-tiv ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LFO is only going to operate on the filter of course, not on pitch of your incoming sound. Yes, you can send whatever you like including polyphonic samples through the filter. It has a super beautiful filter, it sounds just great on anything. You can hear in this demo when he tunes the oscillators to different pitches, the filter really emphasizes harmonics of polyphonic material in a beautiful way.

    • @Voyager-42
      @Voyager-42 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      8:27 is just a result of closing the filter under a pretty heavy delay
      11:03 potentially two tracks, but more likely is that the LFO/Envelope is modulating the arp OSC, and then they have the bass OSC running underneath. The filter movement at the bit is too uniform across the spectrum, so I'd suggest it's all playing live from the 1 unit.

      @@MatthewHyatt in a convoluted way, my point is the same - it's not the instrument but the player who makes it sound good. Some people might rush out and buy a Pro-1 and then be disappointed when they don't sound like DYMTN. The MPC reverbs can actually sound very good, thanks to all their settings you can tweak and routing you can do. The presets just don't bring out the best of it. Take a reference reverb sound and try to match it with the stock mpc reverb, you'll find you can recreate a lot. Also think outside of the box, use two reverbs on sends, one panned hard left and the other hard right. Or something like that.

      @@Pulse2AM I've been liking what I hear from the Hydrasynth Explorer and the Modal Cobalt, but I'm still on the fence about polys for my tastes overall. Maybe one day I'll pull the trigger, lol.

      @@thejoshuathomas I hear yah. I use a Roland, a bunch of samples I made from all the synths I've owned over the years and Analogue Lab. The main sounds I do with my Roland and the filler with the other stuff. With Analogue Lab I have 7000 patches though I lust for more! I know that making a good track/song isn't about what I use but how well I use it. Gear lust is a disease, you can't buy your way to good music, you have to write it.

    The pro1 sounds great. But your sequences are terrible.

      The Pro 1 does sound great, and it's your manners that are terrible.

      I’d say Pro-1 and D are about neck-and-neck.
