      The theatrical version of Alexander is not a satisfying film at all, but if filmmaking craft interest you then comparing the various cut versions is a masterclass in how arranging narrative structure, pacing, and viscreality (sex & violence) can crucially effect the coherence, vitality and resonance of the artistic story being presented. While still having flaws, "Alexander: Revisited - The Final Cut" takes the film from a flaccid failure to something very near an audacious masterpiece.

    Wow. All interviews should be done by people who are genuinely interested and invested in the topics at hand - Mr. Frank knows his stuff and is impressively well thought. It can be easy in a situation like this to come off the wrong way, or to take a slight wrong turn in the conversation and lose momentum. Oliver only got more and more comfortable throughout, able to be himself, which is what we came here for. Beautiful work. 🙏

    Hi Frank, Your interview with Oliver Stone IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE EVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF WATCHING. Your questions were so inciteful and Oliver’s responses were absolutely intriguing. The Untold History of the US and JFK Revisited: Through The Looking Glass removed the blinders off of my eyes and exposed the BS I had been taught in school by bringing the truth of what really happened in history into the full sun of daylight. Oliver Stone is a MY HERO for risking it all to tell the truth in his movies and film scripts, they are amazing!!! I know one thing for sure, Oliver Stone will be seen and understood in the future as one of the greatest film makers, directors, scriptwriters, etc…of all time. Out of all of the people in the world, Oliver Stone is the person I would love to meet and talk movies with, especially his, they are all wonderful. As a fellow film lover/fan, this interview was such a treat for me. Thanks Frank for posting it here on TH-cam.

    Thank you Oliver Stone for your interest in the JFK assassination, the four part version is superb.
    There were so many good documentaries done on the 20th and 25th anniversaries of the murder of JFK, even the early 90's when JFK the movie was released.
    I don't hold much hope of the same for the 60th anniversary, other than more " Oswald did it " garbage.
    It's a shame that the US media won't touch the subject as the truth needs to come to light.

    Born on the 4th of July is an incredible film, easily Tom Cruise's best performance. Its a shame it gets overlooked so often. Every one of his films is legendary, though I'm not a big fan of Natural Born Killers. History will remember Oliver Stone as a seer, a prophet, one extremely potent man of truth.

    • @Geronimo_Jehoshaphat
      @Geronimo_Jehoshaphat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      All the reasons why Quentin Tarantino resents how Oliver Stone subverted the giddy exploitational pastiche of his Natural Born Killers screenplay is exactly why Stone's film is a brilliant scathing satirical critique on the detrimental distractions of sensationalistic mass media demoralization and the glorification of narcissistic incivility upon the public psychè which has subsequently proved all the more pertinent and prescient at pinpointing the chaotic cognative dissonance cause of corrosion upon a civilization.

    A slight background: my father (US citizen) was born in Nevada and my mother in Chile, and I was raised in Chile. On Nov 11, 1963 I was sitting with my father in our living room in Santiago, and the radio was on, where we heard the news about Kennedy's assasination. The first report stated clearly that the shots had come from a grassy knoll in front of the limousine carrying Kennedy, and that two suspects were seen escaping from the scene. After that, the whole story changed. The first book I read questioning the official version of the assasination was "Estos Mataron a Kennedy", by a Chilean journalist called Robinson Rojas.

    I have listened to hours of interviews with Oliver Stone, and just like him in 1988 by chance I read Jim Garrison‘s book which started a lifelong fascination with the case that led to discovering the books of L Fletcher Prouty and James Douglas. Your interview is definitely the best interview I have ever heard with Oliver and you should be congratulated. It seems to be a conversation between friends with quite a lot in common. You can tell he was so relaxed, and the questions were so intelligent and insightful. I enjoyed it immensely and look forward to hearing more from you.

    The 4 hour documentary has just been released in the UK and is a great watch. I'm wondering what the likes of Gerald Posner (author of the book Case Closed) and British criminologist Martin Fido, both staunch single bullet theory supporters have to say now. I've followed the JFK assassination since 1984 and have watched documentaries supporting both conspiracy and single bullet theories while being as rational as possible, have never found a reason to believe the Warren Commissions findings. Great contributions from real experts including Dr Cyril Wecht and Harold Weisburg in the documentaries and I feel this doesn't just vindicate Oliver Stone but also Jim Garrison

    On July 25, 1995, Review Board Chairman John R. Tunheim sent a powerfully worded letter to the Director of the Secret Service registering the Review Board’s displeasure about its recent discovery that the two boxes in question had been destroyed over a half a year previously. A letter from Board Chair Jack Tunheim (rather than David Marwell or Jeremy Gunn) addressed directly to the Head of the Secret Service (instead of to the administrative officials with whom the ARRB staff had been dealing) was a powerful signal that the Review Board was immensely displeased and took the matter very seriously. Of course, this wasn’t the first time the Secret Service had obstructed justice in the JFK case. As I detail in my ebook The Kennedy Autopsy, as soon as President Kennedy was declared dead, a team of armed Secret Service agents took possession of the body and, screaming profanities and brandishing guns, refused to permit the Dallas medical examiner to conduct an autopsy, which was required under Texas law. Their objective? To get the body out of Dallas’ Parkland Hospital, put it onto Air Force One (where Lyndon Johnson was waiting for it), and put it into the hands of the military, which then conducted an autopsy under highly secret and highly auspicious circumstances!!
