Wonderful human being, love him, best American I know, who else is that alive?! Do these students know how lucky they are to experience Oliver Stone in person? He is so aware of history, talks about that battle in Vietnam as if it was yesterday. And fully in the present at the same time. He will turn 70 on September 15. What a life he has had! Full of admiration, ever since I knew of him (JFK, 1992). Courageous like hardly any other director. In spite of massive resistance, character assassination and criticism to no end. A role model. Thanks fo much for posting this interview!

No.They have no idea how lucky they are. I'm suprised Oliver Stone would even entertain speaking at Oxford University. These are the people who will send more poor people to war when it services their needs in the future. I know Oliver Stone wasn't exactly impoverished when he went to war but these people are brainwashed elite. I do like the little 'dis' at 16:32 though.

A remarkable American indeed, as well as a major artist and a true intellectual. His French-born mother’s culture and sensibility clearly helped him soon analyze what’s happening around the Globe from more than one single viewpoint. That’s why I never miss these master classes of his, beside his various cinematic achievements. Full respect. 🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏

As a vietnam era conscripted veteran serving this country during a difficult time I'm proud to be associated with all vietnam vets who served their country honorably. I have been battling the “establishment” since 1968. My days are spent researching, studying, understanding and vetting all things. Note that I loathe all politicians in equal measure with the exception of a handful. My quest to find certain truths afforded me “sit downs” with 2 Mafia (La Cosa Nostra) bosses to get answers on Kennedy’s death to include others. Universities aren't filled with brilliant minds. They are filled with slightly below average to slightly above average minds of people that think if enough money is paid to an educational business for a diploma the end product will be the brilliance of the scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. Unfortunately, their dreams of wisdom and fortune are offset by decades of student loan payments.

1Howdy1 I agree. Those who excel at school, are those who are able to remember and repeat. University's are filled with those who are able to do that to a high standard. Not necessarily those capable of individual ways of thinking, because that's a difficult thing to gauge or fit into the narrow trajectory that has been prepared for them.

I dont always agree with Oliver Stones politics however i do admire his thinking when it came to directing his life. He didn't just settle but made conscience decisions the result being a life well lived.

In 1990 Kevin Costner was offered the lead in a film that needed a big star to get the studio financing, but Costner turned it down because he had been working three years straight and needed a break. Costner's wife, Cindy Silva, read the script and realized its importance and told her husband, "This film has to be made." The film was JFK by Oliver Stone. Thank you, Cindy Silva.

Haven't watched hardly any of his movies, that is all the way through, as he embraces violence too much for my senses but what I have seen lets me know what it's like to experience those events, stories that need to be told and told truthfully!!!.......Oliver Stones' work is Genius.

@@palmbchr I have to be painfully honest that I didnt like much of his work when I was younger, the main reason for that was because I had too many friends who loved to entangle themselves in conspiracy theories. Stones movies didnt necessarily play in to those theories, the worst one can accuse Stone of was throwing conventional wisdom of the time in to question. But the nutty friends I had tried to take the questions Stone posed to another level and that was a level I was unwilling to go. Their collective abject stupidity unfortunately poisoned my mind and I pulled far and away from anything that resembled that, for my own sake.
The only way to appreciate Oliver Stone is with an objective mind.

This is the second interview I have seen with Oliver Stone, he has a wonderful voice and has clearly experienced more in his life than the average man could claim. He has a very relaxed and decentralised view of the world, which in these times of propaganda from many different nations, is a breath of fresh air.
I prey that more men like him would help to shape our world, which has clearly crossed the line and is in dire need of reform.
