I like how she was taking her time, and simply tell the story, it wasn’t just about showing off her clearly powerful and huge voice. This is a singers singer.
I also think she’s a smart singer from a technical standpoint, because, even though her voice was so heavy on the verses, she lightened up and brightened it up at the right time for the high notes, so that she can bring her voice up with ease.

I love when she sang "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" ❤ on UK X Factor a few years back. The writer of that song Diane Warren even cried.
She might be in the top 3, that was one of the best emotive voices I ever heard in a while!
lost that British accent as soon as she started singing, picked up some heft and a lil cry in her vocal. She was totally invested and those light head voice notes were beautiful. This was a moving audition. - So You Wanna Be A Singer

Approx 5 yrs 2 1/2 months. She came in 2nd in Dec 2018. Maybe her first time on X Factor was 7 yrs ago. I thought she had lost weight and cut down on most of the make up, and stopped dressing like that.

Honestly, the whole time I was watching this all I could think was that American Idol doesn't deserve her.
I totally remember Scarlett from X Factor. I thought she was always great vocally but was lacking some control. Something she always had was connecting emotionally. Years later her control is INSANE! This was flawless! Her tone is so soulful and cuts through so deeply. I was crying a minute in. I believed every word, every vocal choice. When she went into the chorus doing it in head voice and then started belting! She has the total package. That was one of the best performances I’ve ever seen in here honestly! She blew me away.

I just wanted to let you in on Scarlett’s story as I have been a follower of her since 2016. This song bird has been on a journey, a journey trying to get to where we all know she deserves to be. Scarlett is up there with the greatest of all time. What is truly special about Scarlett is she has had a fare share of bully’s and negative comments over the years, even though the good will out weigh the bad it cannot be easy. Scarlett is praised high and mighty and so she should be. After experiencing this she’s now an advocate for mental health and body confidence after opening up with her recent struggles with anxiety. I give her praise for not using the American Idol platform to give the typical sob story which she could of easily done like many others. I just know she will make a change in this world. I know she will continue the role of being the inspirational young woman she is and people worldwide will fall in love with her, just like we all did. If anyone deserves this fighting chance it’s Scarlett Lee. I myself reside in Chicago and I can imagine going on Idol all Scarlett would want is for us to love her and accept her, so please let her know WE DO! I fully stand by saying to Idol “WE WANT SCARLETT TO BE THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL” not just because of her amazing vocals but she could make a great change to the world BIG TIME. Remember be kind and show her some love, she’s just a beautiful young woman trying to achieve her dream and her winning this show would be inspirational.

Omg finally. Finally someone with a big voice, with all the techniques, but sounds like an actual human being having a human experience instead of like a vocal Olympian ticking off boxes. You can’t fool being emotionally connected with technique. Katy’s response, her “I don’t know” whilst tearing up when Lionel asks, “What just happened?” said it all. I honestly wasn’t even paying attention to the lyrics that much but I started to get choked up because SHE was totally inhabiting the emotion of the song. And with all that amazing control she allowed the natural textures of her voice come in subtly to add depth. Really impressive. I’m intrigued.
