    California rockers Rival Sons recently performed at the Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne, just down the road from Sweetwater HQ. Guitarist Scott Holiday was kind enough to give us a tour of his rig, which has gone through a huge transformation since we last spoke with him. Scott used to carry up to three pedalboards at a time, but has downsized and found ways to rely on a Line 6 Helix floor processor for the bulk of his tone! This pivot surprises even Scott himself, but it‘s living proof of how far digital multi-effects have advanced in recent years. Check it out!

    Above all else, what has always inspired me about Scott and his approach is that he chases the tones for the song. Whether it comes from an analog approach or modeling approach, it's about what is best for the moment for those songs and how to serve them the best. These guys have been my favorite band for over a decade and it's not only because their music is stellar, but it's because they keep moving forward and enjoy the exploration of new landscapes! Kudos to Scott!!

    This guy has done the most difficult thing and that is getting a unique sound of his own. Great player.

    Scott has one of the most beautiful guitar tones nowadays! Deep Trip makes amazing pedals! I have two of them, BOG and Onça Pintada, and they never go out of my pedalboard! 🤘🤘🎸🎸

    wow, Scott holiday is the way of future rock guitarists, so much evolution with a focus on the music to a level of a dam electronic musicians flexibility in reproducing studio sounds live, so grateful for his rig rundowns!

    What i found interesting that Mr. Fuzzlord uses Soldano Amp models for his Orange tones and Mesa Boogie Mark IV models for his Suprobtone.

    What's gonna happen to rig rundowns in 2025 when everyone has gone to modellers...?

    • @iwillnevergetone5
      @iwillnevergetone5 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      they can still talk about the patches they use. it'll be pretty much the same convo since people choose models for certain sound/aesthetic reasons just like the traditional amps. the interviewers just need to start asking that question

    Always great to see peoples rigs, but what's the point if there's not a single note played? A totally wasted opportunity

    But let's face it. I am not going for Helix.

      It makes sense from a budget pov. Anytime i do a flydate i gotta bring a kemper just in case. The reality is most bands need to front end their cartage budgets. You literally save thousands with a modeling rig and the audience will never know. The only loss is the player experience but sometimes that concession needs to be made because its more practical

      Seriously! I sometimes have to Uber or train to gigs as I live in a major city and parking is terrible. Nothing better than being able to take public transit with your full rig! 🤘

    Scott was obviously given a contract by Line 6 to use their gear and promote it. He should have advised us. I have nothing Scott has got and don't want any of it :)

      I also bet if you went to a rival sons show and he had “dummy amps” on stage but was using a helix you would not be able to tell he was using a modeler
