My friend is a teacher at a christian school in the Netherlands. She gets many muslim children that are sent there by their parents, because they rather have the christian norms and values put in the mind of their kids than extreme muslim values of muslim school, or the western secular norms (i.e. Lgbtq, marxism etc.). God's church is His people. You can have "church" in the woods, a basement, back of a van, in prison, etc. You are right. It is not a denomination nor is it a building. MANY forget that because pride is in tradition. Jesus had ideas about man's traditions if all will recall.

It gives me great hope and joy listening to answers and Genesis. I'm impressed by so many young people and the young mother-to-be in particular that are standing for the truth and authority of God's word. I am 72. When I was growing up there were very few such people. I was raised in a UMC church that preached a social activist gospel and believed in theistic evolution. My parents took me to church but never said anything to me about God's word. When I was 12 I told my mother that I did not believe in God. She said, "That's alright, just don't tell anybody!" If I had been instructed in God's word, I think my life would have followed a better path. For the last 5 or 6 years I have read the entire Bible every 170 days (7 chapters a day). It has changed my life.

James Webb Space Telescope has been a faulty telescope since summer 2022 (6 months after it first launched) when it was hit by an asteroid. Before then the telescope was working very well. The rocks damaged one of the mirrors on the telescope, messing with the infrared measuring device which now is giving us false images. It is only because there is no oxygen that it is not catching fire and exploding. If you could hear the telescope you would hear a buzzing and flickering sound. If you added oxygen to it it would catch fire and explode like Deepwater Horizon back in 2010.

We find things that challenge our understanding of the universe and adjust our theories accordingly to fit reality. The fact that we're seeing galaxies that are older than we expected does nothing to "contradict" the idea of an old universe. It hardly shakes up cosmology as a whole.
I have this theory that evangelicals constantly need to depict science as dogma because it's the only way they can accurately compare Christianity to science. Everything we eat was also alive once and then discarded to my digestive system and then discarded to my colon and then fertilizer for new growth.... Every single sperm has unique genetic material that can create a unique human being that will never manifest (horse tears) due to the engineering of reproductive intelligence of biology itself. Basically, in all life forms, more genetic material (seeds, eggs, sperm, pollen) is created than can possibly be viable. This is nature's insurance against extinction. (to over reproduce) So how much of that genetic material actually gets through the filter to become manifested as a mature life cycle? This is the way of biology. There is no natural argument here. It's about when humans decide to call a person a person and apply human rights to that person.
There is no obvious line, we make it up. Also, there is no mention of abortion in the bible. There again, christians are making it up. Also, what rights does a baby have besides the right to live? Do they have the right to a parent to take care of them? no. The more important value in this situation for most pro life people is that parents need to pay the bills. Money before life. If you accidentally get pregnant you're just screwed I guess. You can't be in two places at once aka with your baby and working. It's Most likely that women with unwanted pregnancies are not in a stable place to raise kids. So it's a sentence to life long poverty or at the least neglect of the baby for economic reasons. At the very least there needs to be a better and more efficient and less expensive way of adopting. There is no banding together to help raise the child, just a lifelong poverty sentence and a washing of hands and pointing of fingers. The one thing christians can't seem to justify is helping the poor! This is why they are dwindling in numbers: total hypocrisy.

Contrary to popular opinion, we Atheists actually enjoy things in religion being proven by modern day science. Our belief was never about the lack of God, it’s about the fact of human inaccuracies (especially writing) that only grow over time. So the fact that something lasted for over 2,000 years after multiple translations is the same (to the point that it should be a standard of living) isn’t our cup of tea. But it being found factual is the testament of time we need to value religion. It no longer being faith alone but facts and history.

Small correction: While a light year IS a measure of distance, that distance is how far it takes light to travel in a year, therefore CAN theoretically also be used to measure time.
So, barring God’s ability to do whatever and however He wishes with His creation, if a star were 12,000 light years away, then it took 12,000 years for that light to reach us, and any light it produces today would not arrive for another 12,000 years.
As such, it is LIKE looking back in time when we look at the stars.

    • @joegame4576
      @joegame4576 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

a small correction for you: distance between stellar masses do not remain constant for the most part. this is due to gravity and expansion of the universe. within the local group of galaxies, the expansion is not apparent but the gravity can cause the objects to get farther away or get closer towards each other. for example, the moon is moving away from earth by about 3.8cm per year. between groups of galaxies, they are getting further away through expansion. in fact, some are getting further away at a rate faster than the speed of light so we can never get there even theoretically. so that star that is 12,000 light years away NOW may not have been 12,000 light years away 12,000 years ago. so what you see NOW is not exactly 12,000 years ago.

When you hear the term “megaparsec,” abbreviated Mpc, just translate that in your head into “about three and a quarter million light-years.” The most common way to express the expansion of the Universe is in terms of kilometers-per-second-per-megaparsec, or km/s/Mpc.

A scientific model is a best interpretation of the available data. When new data is verified to conflict with that model, then the interpretation must be adjusted to account for that data. Somtimes there is no current unification of data into a single model. For instance classical, relativity and quantum physics are all accurate interpretations of physics based on what they are describing. Relativity dos not disprove classical physics, and quantum physics does not disprove relativity. They all describe different phenomenon. Yet they don't line up together at the edges where they might have overlap. Obviously, I'm not a scientist, but thats my understanding of it.
New and conflicting data should always be welcomed, because it ultimately means a greater understanding of the universe.

History proves the Bible even more with archeology being extremely (almost perfectly) in line with Biblical accounts including the parting of the red sea, the mountain on fire, Noah's ark etc. Even those that seem like a stretch have the ruins of a ship in the mountains with the exact measurements of the Ark, a mountain with rocks burnt on one side and with archeological carvings of bulls below it, and Egyptian pottery and chariot axles in the middle of the red sea corralled over from the thousands of years.

Human ribs are unusual because they can heal and regrow on an exceptional level when removed. They are often used for bone grafts because of this. Due to their regenerative capabilities, it is thought that they have tissue containing progenitor cells / stem cells. Stem cells are vital for building a human being. Not even 3 minutes in, and we are already wrong about physics and general relativity. Pretty easy thing to show too. Light moves at a constant speed, it does not move any faster and neither can any material reach the speed of light. To say that we are looking at something that is X # of light years away, you MUST consider how long it took the light to get here from there, meaning that you are by default looking at that thing as it was when the light left it however many years ago. Space and time are thus connected and are two parts of the same thing. The speed of light can also be viewed as the speed of causality, as information cannot move any faster than the speed of light either. Honestly simple stuff, that you so adamantly propose that we are ONLY looking at things that are so far away and that we are NOT looking at how they are back in time means one of two things: Either 1, you do not understand the bare bones basics of relativity and causality, &/or 2, you are intentionally misleading people. That is shameful, and I believe your bible instructs you to be wary of false teachers, and also to make use of the talents (skills, opportunities, faculties) that He has given you. Seriously, you can do better.

And traveling only 6,960,000 miles a year, galaxies have took a heck of a long time to be that far away from eachother....

My favorite analogy is a factory and a conveyer belt. You wouldn’t walk into a system based structure where machines are pumping out a product in a very orderly and organized faction and say “yea this definitely all happened by chance” 😐 “there’s no way a man created something like this. Things just kinda formed from earthquakes and things bumping into eachother until one day this factory was complete to how we see it today”
Everything about the universe is orderly and perfect and precise. If gravity was just a fraction of a percentage weaker, everything would float away and be chaotic, if it was slightly stronger, everything would crash into eachother,
We are perfectly distant and yet perfectly close to the sun,
And lastly the idea of free will… if everything truly was random and chaotic and we just formed, the idea of free will just doesn’t make any sense. We would ONLY be programmed based on instinct, but we aren’t, we can chose to do literally anything and think critically, even many animals to an extent.
You might argue “no, they only rely on instinct” but many people who own pets know that isn’t true. We’ve seen our dogs and cats do odd behaviors and really interesting things that clearly aren’t instinct.
Everything in this universe is way too perfect and systematic to be random
Since we live in a systematic universe it’s impossible to imagine an oposite one. I have an idea in my head but it’s hard to put it in words

@@teks-kj1nj Actually, he knows what he's talking about, you either don't understand what he's referencing or you don't believe he's correct in what he's saying. When God made Adam on the 6th day, that became Adam's "birthday" as far as humanity is concerned, though he wasn't born in the traditional sense. If you were to have seen him, Adam I mean, a week later, he would appear to be a (30 year old?) human and you would never be able to reconcile that he's only 7 days old by using a naturalistic world view. JWST is seeing farther into space than we've ever seen before and what it's showing us there, completely debunks the theories currently postulated by the naturalistic and evolutionarily world views. The "big bang" cannot be the start of the universe once you compare the findings of JWST to the best models available and that sends science right back to the drawing board looking for a way to explain what we're seeing without allowing any room for a Creator. The biggest assumption that current science makes is that they believe "things are, as they've always been, and that things have always been, as they are" (things like the speed of light and gravity I mean). I'm not saying that the speed of light has changed because I have no way of testing that but if it has changed, that would completely throw off all our models and it would also mean we could never arrive at the truth. We'd forever be second guessing ourselves. So, I believe he's saying, at moment 2:44, what is stated in Isaiah 40:21 that, "(God) stretches out the heavens like a curtain". Now if you look at it from that point of view, the amount of time that's transpired for the light from those distant stars and galaxies is called into question and pulled into focus. Because if, like Adam, the heaven's were made and set on their course by God, then we will never arrive at the truth through science and observation because we were not there to observe the things that are different than what we can observe today/now. We are and will always be second guessing. The only thing left for us to do is to take it on faith and since the only Witness to those events left us as much information as we're ever going to get on the subject, I place my faith in Him. You may say that you don't believe in the creation account and it would be a gullible fool who did, but understand we, all of us, come from the same position; we all believe in how we got here by faith. You believe that Neil DeGrasse Tyson or Richard Dawkins, or Darwin have the truth of it. But, if you're being honest, you have to take their word for it (take it on faith) because it's very unlikely you did all the necessary research and fact checking to ensure they didn't get it wrong. What it all comes down to is either God (not subject to time, space, or matter) spoke and created from nothing, all that we see OR, that nothing (without time, space, or matter), acted on nothing and created all that we see. Those are our only options and both require faith. I'd say that second actually requires considerably more faith than the first.

    2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”

Why does it matter if God created the universe suddenly or over time?

2:40 Genuinely don't understand how you could hold this elementary of an understanding of terminology like this. Just because a light year is a unit of distance does not mean that it doesn't represent the passage of time. A light year is the distance a photon can travel in a vacuum given the time scale of a calendar year. Knowing this, the fact that we can look up to the sky and see distant stellar objects at all has to mean that there was an adequate period of time before the instant of our observation that elapsed in order for the photons from that source to reach our eyes. Please someone feel free to explain to me or even correct me regarding these creationists' understanding of fundamental empirical concepts.

"when we look at far away things, we're not looking back in time" yes you literally are. When you look at a star 1000 light years away, you're seeing it as it was 1000 years ago. Heck, you're seeing the sun as it was 8 minutes ago. If the sun exploded right now, it would take us 8 minutes to see the explosion. It literally is looking into the past and I have no idea why these creationist morons don't understand that

Because C isnt an universal constant. For example gravity fields impact it.

Because they are trying to find evidence that fits their narrative and often in order to do that they have to take a elementary understanding.

The speed of light is the one constant. That was Einstein's main discovery.

Well their are three idea I have...
      1. "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters," how much time has passed between God creating the universe and God being about to start the 6 day creation of life on earth? So when people say earth is billions of years old, heck could be. As according to scripture earth was created at the beginning with heaven. It predates the 6 day creation. Or in other words enough time passed for light from far away stars to reach earth.
      2. "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth...And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." How old was Adam to be charged with multiplying and dominating the earth? It's safe to say he was not a newborn, nor was anything else God had created as even the fish and birds he commanded to multiply thus they had to have been of maturity to do so. So if life was created fully mature and functional, would it be safe to presume (hypothesis/theories) that all aspects of creation would also be accelerated in their development? In other words stars were created already casting light to there furthest reaches.
      3. "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." Is it possible that photons were created in this instance being accelerated by the command of God for his purpose to be exactly as we would need them to be on earth as according to scripture God was on earth as he formed it to support life. Or in other words the light originated from here before even being cast from the stars.
The fact it takes light time to travel is objective fact, but the idea that light has always traveled at the same speed is not so much. As we know for a fact gravity and water can slow down light, thus we already know the speed can be affected. It is possible just like so many other things we have found to be true that were previously not known or thought to be impossible, that we may have simply not found an effect or material to speed up light... yet.
