First off, awesome video. Thank you! I did run into one small issue that took a little bit to get so posting it here. My app was based in the US, and since I am in the Eastern United States, I chose that for the data center in the IoT page. That was clearly the wrong call. I got that I could not deploy a device in a different data center. A few google searches later and a Tuya development doc, I found out that US needs to be Western US Data center. I changed that and everything worked according to the video. Thanks again.
@@MarkWattTech Hi Chuck, I also just ran into the same issue and despite having changed the data center to Western in my Tuya developer account, I am still getting the same error message. I am also located in the Easter of US and that is selected in my Tuya smart app on my iPad. What else do I need to check?
I feel like Tuya made the v2 integration with the promise of local control to pull away users from Local Tuya. People jumped through hoops to set up Dev IOT service through them and everything, only for them to immediately say "local is no longer a priority"?? They know a lot of people won't even bother moving back to Local Tuya now either. Many devices can't be Tasmotized. It's really disappointing that they'd pull this sort of bait and switch, but hardly surprising. I hope their work with HA encourages them to focus on local more.
I also hope they realise the value of local control within the HA community. Hopefully the stats can also be used to show Tuya the number of users and also that this is a feature we all want to see.
Looks like Local Tuya is broken with the update. I tried installing it after realising this official update didn't include sensors so power monitoring on my smart switch stopped working. I installed local Tuya via hacs but it doesn't come up as an integration. Anyone had success?

Thanks for all your help so far, but close to screaming! Tried to link to the Tuya account but the HA Tuya integration states 'Login error (2406): skill id invalid'. I've had three attempts, including with a new Tuya account but with no joy. Any help gratefully received.
RESOLVED: The video explains the importance of selecting the correct Tuya server and uses Central Europe as an apparent example. Being in the UK I chose Western Europe thinking it to be correct. However, from the UK the correct server is Central Europe. Once this was selected, it worked.
Hi, great video - thank you! I was able to follow along up until where you add the integration to HA. After typing in my credentials it throws an error: Login error (1106): permission deny I triple checked my login details and could not find any mistakes. Do I have to wait for that after registration?
Spot on.. worked first time like a charm..Also a little tip for those about to do the 2010.10 upgrade.. before the update.. build a dashboard and put all of your tuya stuff on it and screen shot it.. (and if using node red.. put a comment node by any sequences that will be affected) do your upgrade then set about finding the devices to make things work again. Saved me loads of time trying to work out what switch123456789 was ..
Fortunately I have only a bulb, a socket and 2 IR devices. Everything went smooth with your help. Thanks man . VERY helpful !!!!! :) Thank god my main devices are Sonoff and they have local control from the beginning ;)
This is great! Thank you. A bit out of date with screen sequences in the Tuja IOT developer site (and little in Home Assistant), but look around and it's all there. For example, I did not see a 1 year trial period, and 1 month. Still no payment required. And integration do not appear to have their own link in the menu on the left, but found in Settings. BTW Do not pick your closest data centre, but look it up on the list - they tell you what is needed for your country. eg. I ended up having to go to Eastern Europe, but on the other side of the world.
Hi, Thank you for the video! I have many Cover devices (roller shades and curtain motors) running Tuya platform. I am using Home Assistant to expose these devices to the HomeKit via Home Bridge. After a new release it is not working anymore. For now I have rolled back to the previous version. What is the best way forward? Should I try Local Tuya, or some of the beta versions of Tuya integration via HACS, or maybe just wait? If I switch to Local Tuya, will my devices be available through the Tuya App and Google Home (Tuya - Google integration)?
Thank you for the guide i was able to do it I have 1 device that has a light switch and curtain control but the button of the curtain are flipped only in home assistance works fine from Smart Life app but not in HA, do you have any idea how to flip it ?
The App on my mobile devices says: “You cannot scan the QR-code to add a device deployed in another data center”. Developer account and app are both registered in the netherlands…. Region used is west europe data center… great topic
Thank you, this tutorial is well presented and very informative. The Tuya integration shows in my Home assistant but it does not pick up any of my devices. Could you please recommend a fix?
Hihi.. When I clicked the entity, it shown 0. When I login the IOT platform, it shown devices not supported. But tuya apps is able to control the device. Did you faced such issue before?
My SmartHome/SmartLife app (I think by TCL, but actually Tuya) doesn't have the ability to scan the QR code to link the device. I was able to download the Tuya app and re-register my devices (3 Electriq Air Conditioner/Heat Pumps) and get them working!
Hi. One thing I'd pass back through to the development team is with the whole setup process. It seems unnecessarily convoluted to have to set up a developer account simply for integration - a better approach might be an option in the app that says 'api integration' which provides the credentials required if it's selected. Any back end config required should remain in the back end. Do you have any idea if tuya plan to streamline this in the future?
I have said this before too 😖. It is very complicated for the average user or just for someone that want to get access to just the Api for use in HA. A simple sign up and the details pull through your login should be added. I will raise it again with Tuya to see if this can be improved for the HA community :)
Hello, I did all of this in November and it was fine for some time. At some point in December all my Tuya devices disappeared in HA (except the ones I had configured in Local Tuya). I have reload the integration and did all the troubleshooting I could find and nothing. Today I was going to configure them in Local Tuya, but I can't get the device Key anymore. When I submit the query on API Explorer I get a message: "msg": "No permissions. Your subscription to cloud development plan has expired.". Is that it? Do I need to create a new account and do all of it in a month?
Really like your videos with step-by-step walkthrough and actual examples/tutorials rather than just a speech about it. It would be really great if you can do a video on zones and different ways to use it in automations.
Great video! I have one question, how do i get kWh to show up as entity with my Power consumption Power plug? I only get watts, Amps and voltage. But in the smartplug app i also see kWh. Thanks!
Basically have two non-tasmotized Tuya devices for what I need tuya integration, curtain and roller shade with local control. So they almost hit my needs 😂 Good video btw
The problem i have and maybe others have, is that i dont have any tuya compatible hub. From what i understand you have to have the devices on the tuya app first which requires you to have a hub and than can you add them to HA. I have only zigbee usb with RPi 3. As of now every zigbee device have worked locally with no problems. I thought it would be the same with tuya. This was not the case.. For me is just no more tuya devices
Tks for the video - I was expecting to have the Tuya infrared / IR integration (Model S06) but it is not showing up . Has anyone got a different outcome?
Thanks Abraham! Its going to still be a work in progress but this is the first official commit into HA. At least Tuya is going to be actively developing the integration based on HA feedback. There are a number of ticket request for power management atm so I imagine it will be a matter of time before its all implemented.
Thank for the great video, I added the smart life app but not showing any devices for some reason. Then also added integration to Home Assistant and I get the error "Login error (2406): skill id invalid" Any ideas?

Hi Mark great video, I was able to add the initial batch of Tuya devices but have since added 1 additional wifi plug that did not add properly in HA. It came into HA but I cannot control it at all. Its basically an unavailable device in HA. When I look at it in the Tuya developer web site under my linked Tuya app, it comes up as unlinked device and when I try to link it I get error messages. Any thoughts on how to add?
I followed all the information to set up an account and I see all my devices on the IoT tuya site, unfortunately, after I successfully log in non of my devices show up in the integration of Home Assistant. It shows my email address and Tuya with no devices. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks
Same happened for me So I set up a new cloud project and two of my four came through, I'm guessing the other two (chain controllers) not yet supported.
Thanks. I finally managed to add BIM8774 Smart socket 16A 3500W to HA via Tuya, but it shows only one entity: switch. Do you have idea how I can see more info: ( I think sensors missing) voltage & current consumption?
Mark this was a GREAT video... Thanks for the stellar step by step documentation. You made it so easy for me to migrate to the new Tuya integration... Keep up the great work!
What do I need to do if I've already got the original Tuya, LocalTuya and Tuya V2 interations installed? Will there be a conflict when I upgrade to 2021.10.0? Do I need to uninstall these integrations? If so, before or after I upgrade? So many questions!!! Again, thanks for all your helpful videos.

I'm finding I'm unable to find some strip lights that have the Tuya App installed, but when I first set up with your help in the video in May I only did it using the Smarlife APP but seems to keep disconnecting so I got a Tuya Hub to see if it would be any better, but just not sure if adding the One App Smartlife will also make it possible for Tuya App devices to go into Home Assitant? Hope you can help me on this and thanks again for your help in the video!
Thanks Mark, good video, almost makes me want to try again using a new account and your guidance but because when I tried to add my (Teckin) devices about 50% (6 smart plugs) were not added and they also disappeared from my smartlife app…never to return, as I also could not re-add them, I am not sure I can afford to. I reached out to Tuya and Teckin support and they kept saying it was my Wi-Fi that was the issue…..err not, these devices had worked for > 18 months quite happily until I tried to use the API………..I’d suggest caution to others using this combo.

Heya. Unfortunately Andy Tuya seem to have done a full 180 on what they said. They’ve now pretty much stopped all dev work on the integration. They had a team of 2 working on it but that’s all stopped. Whenever I’ve enquired I just get the same answer of there busy at the moment so it’s not something they are focusing on. As of right now it looks like it’s a no go. I’m not sure if things will change when Matter appears.

@@MarkWattTech All integration that where working with the new Tuya, just stopped working. Ask around I was not alone. I will see if I can link you tomorrow. A bit late today ☺️
Yeah I do wonder... it will kill HA over night if it was.
Don't use Firefox for this setup! I couldn't add Service APIs then tried Chrome and it worked. Thanks Mark!
Thank you very much for the step-by-step explanation, it finally works :)
I can see the following comments on the Cloud Management page -
Service adjustment notice: In order to clarify the content of the cloud service, the Cloud Development Plans has been renamed as the IoT core service from October 15th 2021, and the billing rules have also been adjusted.
Looks like there are 3 services now being offered -
Trial Edition (1 month) - Free
Flagship Edition (1 Year) - $25000
Corporate Edition (1 year) - $50000
Do I need to do anything?
Thanks for all your help so far, but close to screaming! Tried to link to the Tuya account but the HA Tuya integration states 'Login error (2406): skill id invalid'. I've had three attempts, including with a new Tuya account but with no joy. Any help gratefully received.
RESOLVED: The video explains the importance of selecting the correct Tuya server and uses Central Europe as an apparent example. Being in the UK I chose Western Europe thinking it to be correct. However, from the UK the correct server is Central Europe. Once this was selected, it worked.
Hi Mr. Wark! Awesome video as always, covering everything with old & new Tuya, HACS version and step by step configuration!!! GG!!
Thank you very much Mr TeardedBinker 🤣
Hi, great video - thank you! I was able to follow along up until where you add the integration to HA. After typing in my credentials it throws an error:
Login error (1106): permission deny
I triple checked my login details and could not find any mistakes.
Thank you for sharing 👌🏻
Hya Mark thanks for the clear video. I keep getting "Login error (2406): skill id invalid" any idea's on why and how to fix?
thanks
Great Video! It was really simple to follow! Thanks.
Glad it helped!
Fortunately I have only a bulb, a socket and 2 IR devices. Everything went smooth with your help. Thanks man . VERY helpful !!!!! :) Thank god my main devices are Sonoff and they have local control from the beginning ;)
Awesome Mark, great video. thank you!
Thank you :)
Thank you brilliant really comprehensive step by step instruction. Great for a newbie like me.
You're very welcome!
Hi,
Thank you for the video!
Covers are coming in the next release! :)
@@MarkWattTech are Chain controllers (Blinds not yet supported) as mine didn't come through.
Region used is west europe data center… great topic
could it be that i need a german account to use this. I believe the data of europions are saved in germany i once tested with a tool ;-)
Thank you Mark , awesome video.
Brilliant! You just saved me lots of time. It worked flawlessly.
My SmartHome/SmartLife app (I think by TCL, but actually Tuya) doesn't have the ability to scan the QR code to link the device. I was able to download the Tuya app and re-register my devices (3 Electriq Air Conditioner/Heat Pumps) and get them working!
Man, you cam in in clutch!!! I just got my Raspberry Pi today and was having trouble adding the Tuya integration. Thank you very much! Sub+1
WoW! You really make my life easy! Thank you so much!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!
Thanks man! Super explaining how it’s works!
Just happened to me today too. What did you do in the end? Created a new account ?
Excellent!
Really like your videos with step-by-step walkthrough and actual examples/tutorials rather than just a speech about it. It would be really great if you can do a video on zones and different ways to use it in automations.
Thanks for the feedback Tahir. I will be sure to add it to the list 👍🏻🙂
Hi Mark, Thank you for a great video
Thanks for the video. Worked perfect for me. Hope they will add support for seeing energy monitor on smart plugs. i can't see mine in home assistant.
Nice one! I think Franck has added a few bits but don't think its 100% fully implemented yet. Guess it will be a work in progress.
So they almost hit my needs 😂
Good video btw
The HACS version supports covers if you wanted to use them. Covers just didn't get finished in time for the release.
Great, easy to follow video. Thanks Mark.
Thanks Ian! Glad it helped :)
Good video! Got such great cheap smart plugs with energy monitoring, but thats not supported yet. Only on/off 😥
Thanks Abraham!
Its going to still be a work in progress but this is the first official commit into HA. At least Tuya is going to be actively developing the integration based on HA feedback.
There are a number of ticket request for power management atm so I imagine it will be a matter of time before its all implemented.
@@MarkWattTech well then i shall create a ticket too. The more they get this requested, the more important it will become i would say
@@arriewarrie that seems to be how the tickets are being worked on :)
Thank for the great video, I added the smart life app but not showing any devices for some reason. Then also added integration to Home Assistant and I get the error "Login error (2406): skill id invalid" Any ideas?
Cheesus chrust i dont know why but the official Tuya is not working for me I tried in Jan 2022 now im here again in March 22. I have the IoT thing created, authenticated, registered signed my effing soul away.
In Home assisntatn i click add integration tuya, do all the correct details. Just spins for 10 minutes and eventually says unkonw error. in the logs it says timeout connecting.
wtf?
im just gonna install the hacs one this is stupid
Hi Mark great video, I was able to add the initial batch of Tuya devices but have since added 1 additional wifi plug that did not add properly in HA. It came into HA but I cannot control it at all. Its basically an unavailable device in HA. When I look at it in the Tuya developer web site under my linked Tuya app, it comes up as unlinked device and when I try to link it I get error messages. Any thoughts on how to add?
Great and clear vid Mark! Subscribed! ;)
You mentioned a NUC video series? Looking forward to that!
Thanks Oliver!
It’s on hold till I move. But it’s coming :)
Glad it was helpful! Plenty more to come :)
I still have localtuya installed with V2 with no problems. Original Tuya breaks though
@@iainhay2823 When I upgraded to 10.0, I couldn't install the new Tuya because I still had the original installed. I could not delete it.
@@marceskenazi What happens when you hit delete?
@@iainhay2823 It says it was deleted. But it is still there and still can't install new Tuya. I've gone back to 9.7. I'll try to delete it before I upgrade again.
@@marceskenazi very odd! Good luck
I could use some help, I followed all of the steps up to linking Tuya in HomeAssistant, and no devices populate, despite having 40+. I'm sure I've done something wrong, but everything else on HomeAssistant has been smooth sailing so far.
Thanks Matt for this video. as summer is pretty much here... I've got a portable air conditioner out which uses tuya/smart life app for control. I've followed your instruction and able to add the device in HA. however. I'm not getting the ability/entity to switch the device on or off. Any idea? Thanks
Thank you very much. Great Video :)
Glad you found it helpful! :)
many thanks, the gui changed a bit, but it worked :)
Great video. I am having some issues with my Genio Smart Bulbs via Tuya in HA. I can see it shows entity as light but once I set brightness it goes to the brightness set in Tuya mobile app. Any ideas?
Would I need to add both Tuya as well and Smartlife in the Tuya Iot Platform link Tuya App Account if I have both hubs for both Mobile APPS.
Again, a simple step by step vidéo! This is crystal clear!!
Someone have issue with Smart dimmer? 'cause my Smart switch is detect but not the dimmers..
Tasmota is getting closer ^^
It seems to ne a very cool dev by Tuya but... V1 was Working (with .. cloud) now.. not Working (again with cloud hahaha).
beautiful promises from Tuya, but the functionality disappears..
Anyways, thanks a lot Man! This tutorial work like a Charm!
Thanks for the feedback mate. Lots will be fixed in 2021.11. Franck has been adding loads! (Dimmers are done 👍🏻).
@@MarkWattTech What a great news!! Hell yeah!! Thanks mon ami!
And.. patience Will be! :)
The ioT project expires in 1 month after free trial and Tuya ask for renew after that. So it's not free anymore
Hey Mark, what's the outlook for local access to Tuya devices? Is this still on Tuya's roadmap? Any idea when we'll see it?
@@MarkWattTech Mark, Thanks for the update. Doesn't sound promising...
Thanks for the video!
