Oh yes my first tester bowl like this had holes on the bottom. I just didn't like it as much because it had to have a foot, because a flat bottom would be weaker with the holes! Aesthetically, I personally prefer to have all of my work have flat bottoms aha.
Yea I wasn't sure how the flat bottom without holes would work functionally, but I've been using the garden bowl I made for myself and it works great!!
I looked up a printable shrink ruler online (12% one for my clay), and printed that out. I then transferred those measurements onto a wooden stick! Here is the website with the printable rulers... Lots of shrinkage rates to choose from that will match your clay body: www.printable-ruler.net/pottery-shrinkage/

What is the blue spinning wheel thing your leather your leather hard pieces are on when you are finishing?
That’s beautiful! Is the clay leather hard when you punch the holes?
It's on the softer side of leather hard. Firm enough to where it wont warp, but not so hard the walls will crack when punching the holes.
