Thank you! I checked the tube, which was not clogged. I then removed the hose like you said and reconnected it. And low and behold! Blue flame! Thank you so much! You know your stuff!
Thanks - this video saved me a call to Camp Chef customer service about 1 of the 6 burners on my new FTG900, which was shooting out 6" high yellow flame, versus nice blue flame like the other 5 burners. Turns out the screw that holds thee air vent in place was not tightened down, and it had rotated to block all the air coming into the burner. Problem solved 1 minute after finding this video!
i went camping with my son and notice he was cooking on a camp chef stove both sides of the burners were flaming yellow and smoking He though that was normal been like that since he bought it I adjusted the air flow and one side looks great now Blue in color However i can not get the other side to adjust i Rotated the air cutoff and it doesn't change anything . I took the valve apart and check it and didn't see any problem . Everything i do on that side did not change the flame its still yellow and smoking Got any advice for me thanks
It could be that the gas-air mixture is set too rich, and in that event, the gas-air mixture is out of kilter i.e yellow flames or blue flames with large yellow tips causing sooting to pans and utensils. Flames should be blue with no yellowing on butane 28-30mbar pressure and propane 37mbar pressure. However, on BBQ's, plus cooker grill and oven burners run on butane, it is not uncommon to see very slight yellow tips at the top of the flame on ignition slightly increasing as the burner warms up. Cooker top flames should be blue in colour. Propane produces flames which are largely blue / green in colour on all burners. Modern gas appliances set to run on LPG are usually pre-set for aeration at the factory and no adjustment is possible or necessary. Appliances which come with LPG gas jets separately should have the LPG jets installed properly and set for line pressure / aeration etc before connecting to a gas cylinder.
I tried this to fix the low flow mode , didn't work . replaced the regulator now works like all my other camp chef stoves . between my two flat tops , deep fryer and grilling box there is nothing i cant cook in my yard that I can cook at the restaurant . Camp Chef is the key to being the king of the street BBQ and the god of camp cooking . From a cook , Camp Chef is equal in performance outdoors as pro gear at work .
I have one problem. I am not sure what I did wrong. After I change my propane, the flame is not strong when I tried to turn on both. I did play around how you tried to make the flame blue, still doesn’t work. Can you please help
The video does not show how to take the burner off the stove to wash it. It cuts directly to hosing down an already disconnected burner. I couldn't find any instructions anywhere how to remove the burner for cleaning.
I just bought the Sidekick and have used it about three times. I cannot get the flame to ignite and have been forced to use a manual lighter. What could I be doing wrong?
Hi Joe, Sometimes the Piezo ignitor just needs to be adjusted closer to the gas ports. Try pushing it a little closer to the burner and see if that fixes it. If not our customer service will be able to help you out. call 1(800)650-2433, or shoot them an email at support@campchef.com.
Thanks! I was getting ready to toss this burner in the dumpster 😂 Couldn’t cook anything cause the flame was going everywhere and my pots were getting black 🤣
doesn't matter , sometimes you have to readjust when changing temps . caution the vent handle may be very hot use good cooking gloves or tongs to be safe .
I used the grill with my flat top griddle for quite a while with a yellow flame resulting in black soot everywhere. Do you have any tips on cleaning this off?
Thank you! I checked the tube, which was not clogged. I then removed the hose like you said and reconnected it. And low and behold! Blue flame! Thank you so much! You know your stuff!
You are the best! Here I’m thinking I purchased a low quality product. Nope. I had no idea the air control were there. Awesome! Thank you!!

Excellent video, the air vent solution solved my yellow flame situation
wished i had watched this video, before burning all the black soot on my pots n pans :(. Appreciate the solution! thanks!
THIS was helpful. I have the Camp Chef 2 I think... Now my black soot is off the pots and off everything. Very good short video. Very easy adjustment.
Glad we could help. Thanks for the feedback.
Well I sure feel like an idiot. Great video, I had no clue there was a vent. Doh.
Thanks, I took everything apart trying to see what’s causing the low flow. Wish I would have watched this first
Thank you. My regulator was the issue and the restart helped solve my issue.

Thank you for a brief and concise explanation.
You saved me bro! Got rid of the yellow flame!

Same issue, there is not an intuitive way to access the burner without disassembly the whole dang stove.
I want to know how to get the burner out. 2 bolts ok twist burner and no luck getting off gas pipe/orfiec ... PRO 60X

Would that method work on burner for turkey fryer?
I have the camp chef expedition 3burner. The burners will not turn all the way off. Any one know how to correct this? Thanks
So are you only supposed to turn the propane tank on a quarter or half turn all the time in normal use?
I just bought the Sidekick and have used it about three times. I cannot get the flame to ignite and have been forced to use a manual lighter. What could I be doing wrong?

How about adressing that even a light wind will blow the burners out if they are on medium and low?
Thanks! I was having this issue with the flame not burning blue. I also believe it was in low Flo mode.
I tried this & worked perfectly thanks for the video.

Couldn’t cook anything cause the flame was going everywhere and my pots were getting black 🤣
Mine went in the trash. The burners weren’t serviceable on my model.
Very nice video. And very nice product.
What if I turn the valve all the way and it doesn't get a low flow?
Do you set the flame when the dial is on hi, med or low?
doesn't matter , sometimes you have to readjust when changing temps . caution the vent handle may be very hot use good cooking gloves or tongs to be safe .

Is there a reason I would ever want that air vent closed?
Maybe the quality of the fuel varies and would need a different mixture?

Yellow Flame=carburizing=Insufficient oxygen = Cold Flame & Soot Not enough oxyge = Wasted Fuel
Blue Flame = neutral flame= sufficient oxygen = Hot Flame no soot sufficient oxygen = No Fuel Waste
great help
Valves are leaking, replaced with new, still leaking. JUNK!
