    I've been researching budget kits for a bit, and this is the first time i've seen this brand come up. It's almost all Alesis, Donner, or wait for a used Roland.
    This kit looks like exactly what i want! Not too expensive, but also not too lacking in features.

      The kit looks like what I want too buddy! Looks like a real set with big drum heads and cymbals. The Alesis Nitro Max looks like a toy, as do the Donner and some other strange brands out there. The Rolands are overpriced in my opinion to, and all of them have small snare drums and only 8-10 inch toms! Yikes

    I use this paired with EZ Drummer 3 and it's sooooo sick. Makes practice and demos a blast, quick, and doesn't disturb the whole neighborhood. I'm not sold on using them live or on actual records but for everything else they are king for the money.

  • @iamnoone9041

    WOW, with ezdrummer this kit stands to blow out the competition completely. If the durability is at least as good as Alesis's kits or better, this will at the very least drive down the price of all the other companies stuff. So long as the Millennium drums actually last long term, they have shown everyone that the other companies are either being shady by charging so much for theirs, or are behind in the tech. Either way, I've been wanting to replace my Alesis Nitro with something more like the Millennium and I am definitely going to do some research on their kits now. Thank you very much for showing us the kit, you have likely saved a good number of people a decent amount of money. Money that can be used for something more important than people realize and that is a good quality throne.

    Hi Jason, As a beginner I was also checking out this set kit and am a little in the dark, yet thought as you do, that it does not compare with
    what you get from other set-ups. Given the huge price difference from proper drum sets. I liked the fact that it was so compact, they speak of
    140 x 80 cm foot print on your living room floor! yet with stool and access it might be quite a bit more, still tight though.
    What sticks would you recommend or are the one´s provided ok enough?

    • @JasonSayersDrums
      @JasonSayersDrums  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      As a beginner it’s important to buy something that can grow with you for a few years. Not to mention that should you give up, or don’t like it. You didn’t spend a fortune in trying. It’s quite a big footprint but a bit smaller than a full size acoustic kit.
      The sticks that come with it are fine. Should you need more I would go to a shop and try 5A or 7A. 5A is standard weight for most people but sometimes the lighter weight 7As suite other people.

    Amazing review, Jason, thanks! My question is about the natural "acoustic noise" of the set, especially that of the drum bass and snare? Is it possible to bother the neighbors if one has this set in a conventional apartment (blocks)?

    • @JasonSayersDrums
      @JasonSayersDrums  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is still quite loud to a degree. It’s no louder than drumming on a hard back book in theory. Bass drum wise, the stomp can be heard down through floors but there are things you can do. Silent bass drum pedal beaters, Adoro silent sticks, along with some form of platform for the kit if the noise does bother neighbours downstairs. I built mine out of 2 bits wood and tennis balls (a build I found on TH-cam).

      I can do this when I get another kit from Thomann. This one has gone back to them now so can’t make a tutorial on it. Essentially it takes a 1 hit wav sample and you can place it on each pad. You still get dynamic volume but its just the same sample played quieter or louder so the tone can’t change to make it realistic. Great for consistent kick drums though!

    I want an e-drum kit which includes realistic drum sounds, where the toms don't sound processed and electronic-y. That's great for Simmons etc patches, but not for when I want an acoustic kit. I'm not thrilled with my Alesis mesh kit in that regard. I'd like to quit depending on VST drum software. My Addictive Drums are fantastic. However, that's all at the mercy of quirky, glitchy computers. Currently, MIDI trax I make using that is missing the hi hats, and I never know what's going to "feel like" working during any given day. I'd like to have something that's "already there" which I can just record, lol.

    Did you do anything in the settings? I have this kit and the hi-hat is not responsive at all. Also the choke function on the cymbals almost never works unless I squeeze them really hard. And the bell on the ride cymbal is also not responsive. Been trying to tweek it in the settings, but is stays horrible.

      @JasonSayersDrums  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So with the Hi Hat, there is an update on the millennium website. That said, I didn’t use it but did notice that in order to get the best response it needs to be higher than you probably would like it. Chock function I had no issue but you do have to actually grip it. Ride bell can be tweaked but if you play very lightly then it maybe difficult to get the sensitivity high enough.

    • @JasonSayersDrums
      @JasonSayersDrums  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, all electronic kits are loud to play. Nothing will ever be silent. I’d say it’s a good 60% quieter than an acoustic kit. No louder then hitting a phone book with a stick hard.

  • @yours_truely

    I don't like them very much. They cannot pick ghost notes as they have very low sensitivity. The built in sounds are really bad and the lag is quite noticeable. The high-hat is hit and miss and so are the cymbals. I haven't tried them with SSD5 yet. Maybe that can improve them a bit but I doubt it.

    • @JasonSayersDrums
      @JasonSayersDrums  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There is an update on the Hi-Hat module which can be had from their website. The built in sounds are the exact same as i have on my more expensive Alesis kit. They do the job but if you want realism then connecting to a computer is vital. Ghost notes i had no issues with, maybe you hit lighter than me and need to increase pad sensitivity on that drum?

    A pity you didn't let us hear all the Std pop rock kits, modules are filled with junk most people won't use, but the little we did hear sounded usable.
    Yes, the big boys are getting a run for their money, I've got a Roland TD11KV, and I've just bought an Alesis Nitro Max, and the Alesis blows the Roland out of the park with regards to drum SOUND quality - (but I did build my own user kits)
    The Roland stuff is built like a tank, and kits like this? Only time will tell if they last. It looks like Millennium is only available in the US.

      I was trying to keep the video a bit shorter in length so couldn’t do all of the kits. It’s very similar to my Alesis kit which was semi high end in 2020. Lots of cool features and had the same build quality. The sounds are useable but maybe not for live situations.

    I'm looking to buy one of the beginner e-drum kits for my girlfriend but I don't think this is the right one for us. In my opinion the sounds don't get close to the quality of a Roland TD-02 KV and I wouldn't be using EZDRUMMER with it so I guess this is not for me. Unfortunately..

    • @JasonSayersDrums
      @JasonSayersDrums  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Roland have very processed sounds and have a very different triggering system. The sounds from the millennium module are identical to almost all other kits like Alesis etc. They are good enough to learn on but if you want amazing sounding drums then you’ll always pay a lot more.
