    Good evening, George. Those griffons were fantastic. That Bristol vase was a beauty, and the price was really good. Like you, I don't understand why Bristol is priced so low. It is really nice glass, and really underappreciated. Loved the "Spirit of Ecstasy" Wedgwood piece! I don't collect Wedgwood, but I'd definitely go for that piece. Those "stacked bubble" lamps...🤨😆 The candle screen was neat. I've never seen one of those...didn't know they were even made. There looked like a bone, (or possible ivory), engraved cigarette or cigar holder, in the jewelry case, that caught my eye. The amphora bust was a beauty! There were a lot of really nice items there. Thanks for taking us along!

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello, my friend! Weren't they? I'd have them in front of my door. I really keep thinking Bristol will be the next big thing, I guess because it's indefinite whether the pieces were English or American that it has hampered the collectors. I did like the stacked bubbles, Italian design in that era was very strong! The little candle screen was really neat, I thought, you see larger ones more often. I missed that cigarette holder, darn! I knew you'd like the amphora too. I am starting to see more true antiques in antique stores again, I think there is renewed interest

    • @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
      @CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TheAntiqueNomad To me, it doesn't matter if Bristol is English or American - it is beautiful, well-made glass. Being finicky about where it was made doesn't make sense, to me. If it isn't possible to know where a piece was made, then why would it matter? I'd have trouble imagining into what setting those lamps would fit 😅 Yes, that candle screen was a really neat item! I wouldn't mind having one of those. I'd like to have seen what was engraved on the cigarette/cigar holder. I like those because they, in some ways, portray an elegance of a bygone era. Oh yes, that amphora was a fabulous piece! It would be really nice if interest in true antiques does make a comeback!

    I remember doing enameling in junior high back in the 80s. I don't think they really do art in school anymore. We did painting, ceramics and fired it, enamel work, etc. and that was just in plain old public school. 16:25 Why are all antique malls selling those ridiculous stickers? Not like they are going to make any money on them. People in the antique mall where I sell have them too.

    Hudson Bay blankets , I have 5 of them . Being Canadian , it seems to be part of us . If you buy them brand new , we’ll be prepared to spend money . There’s also Hudson Bay coats 😊. Love your site, but as a antique store owner in the past, and having kids grow up in the business, i have to disagree with you about kids in antique mall, they are bored with it quickly ,flailing arms and handling items not intended to be toys. People today dont respect the fact that if your kid breaks it they should pay for it. If my child wanted to see something i picked it up and showed them and let them feel,view it.,,so when it was put back it wasnt taped and broke.. My home was filled with antiques and my house was full of kids and rarely anything broke. And my adult kids love antiques today.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm glad you had that experience, the way you did it is how my parents did it, and I do agree that parents and guardians should supervise them. My folks started taking me at age ten, and by explaining what I was seeing and letting me buy something if I was well behaved and touched carefully with their supervision, they kept my interest long enough for me to develop my own interest in it!
      My point is that parents who constantly scold their kids throughout the experience are making sure that those kids will be turned off by the experience and not ever want to go into an antique store again. I hear kids say, "Mommy, look at that!" and the response isn't, "Yes, isn't that pretty?" or, "Would you like me to show you?" but instead is, "Don't touch that!"
      Look how many family heirlooms in china cabinets end up with us antique dealers because the kids were taught to fear them and now have no positive connection to them.
      As for items being broken (rarely in your house, or mine growing up), an attentive parent will of course make sure that isn't happening and will reimburse in a shop if it does. For the most part, non-attentive parents aren't in my experience likely to be interested in coming into a good antique store in the first place.
      I have no qualms about telling parents at my estate sales that they have to keep their children with them when they arrive, but I never tell them that they can't bring them in or let them look.
