I saw you two downtown very recently but you were filming content so I didn't want to interrupt of course. Great to see you back home, if only even for a little while. Y'all are the best!
As an immigrant from The Philippines living in Halifax for a year, your videos have been my guide to what places to check out and which restos to try as I'm a foodie; and boy your recommendations didn't disappoint! I'm definitely gonna try that Deluxe Burger in Dartmouth ASAP!
I just stumbled upon your TH-cam channel. My ice and I moved to Halifax last summer, she wanted to be closer to her family-everyone is from South Africa-we left Ontario and honestly, have no desire to go back. It has been good for her physical and mental health, we have spent more time outside at the harbour and walking around town in the last year than the past decade in Ontario. We are seeing the similarities in costs and whatnot but it’s manageable as we got into my sister in laws building at a cheap rental price. It’s nice to go for a drive and actually get out of the province within hours instead of being stuck in the same province after driving for days. We love it.
Yes, summer is the best here in Halifax. But don't forget, the fall colours are amazing and last for weeks. I lived in Edmonton for 38 years - spring and fall last about a week, and the fall colours are *only* gold. I love your videos! Be safe!
Your vlog is great, and I really enjoyed seeing Halifax. I lived there for five years and have a special connection to the city. However, I feel there was too much talking throughout the video. It would have been better to show more of the city itself. I was hoping for a better balance between commentary and visuals. Looking forward to your future content!
Well, I'm shocked but not shocked with your leaving NS. I just discovered you two this weekend, l will subscribe. Your reasons for leaving make sense, I wish l could do what you guys are doing as l hate winter and the cost of living here, too. Sadly, that isn't in the cards for us. Anyhow, thanks for showing some of Dartmouth and Battery Park. Now, those are burgers l can get behind... sorry, Darrell's. Good luck to you both, now, and in the future.
Hey so Awesome to see you back home, even if not for a visit. I'm thinking you guys are getting citizenship in the Dominican...you now, home sweet home. 😊 It would be awesome, if you have the time, to show "All" the major building of high rises, apartments etc around Halifax, in clouding Almon & Young streets, Clayton Park, Clayton Park, the Wow! Building on Quinpool Rd across from the North West Arm, and another Wow, Bedford West! Our population has increased, and rents and housing are over the top, however, these new builds are filling up regardless. Sadly, it's very, very hard for many with lower incomes...this needs to be addressed and taken care of Stat! Enjoy your visit. Stay well, stay safe, and I am so looking forward to your next Halifax video, and your Big Announcement...which I think? Is getting your Citizenship in the Dominican...but hey, you just might Surprise me! Lol Love you both! Cheers from Halifax! ❤️
Hello Anna & Trevor, this is a really different atmosphere than Dominican Republic and all the islands you've been visiting these last months but it has his charm too, never been to Halifax but it seems really cool too. Keep travelling and sharing your cool videos, I love them ;-) cheers from Belgium
That park you filmed in in Dartmouth, I used to walk it every day to take the ferry to work when we lived on Portland St. (5 corners). It was a beautiful walk and great ferry ride to downtown Halifax to work. I did that for a number of years. Dewolf Park in Bedford is a great place on the harbour as well. Great boardwalk there. There are nice restaurants in Bedford as well. I love Urban Resto (has vegan and gluten-free). They also have yummy vegan and GF dessert, and Thai Ivory is great. The cost of living in Nova Scotia used to be so good compared most of Canada. It's gone up so much. It's sad. I think the pandemic had a lot to do with it because we had so little covid here that people wanted to move here to be safe. I can't blame them. Your surprise, could you guys be having a baby?!! That would be exciting!
I moved from Saskatchewan to attend grad school in Halifax almost 20 years ago and adored the city! I lived on Church Street and miss being able to walk by the ocean on a daily basis and the walkability of the city. It was very hard to leave and it's great to see how it's changed.
My goal when I retired was to move back to Halifax Or Cape Breton (I fell in love with it as a student at MSVU) but for better or worse, the cost has become too high. Le sigh! Still a lovely place. There is just something that hit me in my gut when I arrived for the first time on my way to PEI for. Visit.
Thank you for the information on Ace Burger Restaurant. I definitely want to try that place. I do like The Humble Pie in Dartmouth. Looking forward to more Halifax foodie places. Thank you Anna and Trevor. From someone who lives in Lower Sackville.
I was born in Halifax in 1960. I just came back from my first visit in 54 years. Beautiful place. I wanted to retire and move back there, but my wife and I realized that it’s more expensive to live in Halifax than in Vancouver. So we’ll stay put.
@@jennifermarlow. a 1 bedroom in Wellington is currently going for about $2800 a month. Halifax is still a bargain compared to the rest of the world it’s just more than it was 10 years ago. People in New Zealand typically rent a room not an apartment because that is way too unaffordable
I was born in Hfx in 1935 , I moved to different places when I married in 1959 , wherever I live Hfx will always be my home , I have not been there for years. , seeing some of the new high rises I don’t like them it’s not my old city with so much charm it’s still beautiful in its way but I have such wonderful memories , growing up there , not so wonderful the War and second Hrx explosion but all part of the fabric of my life,
Like yourselves, also not a ‘winter’ person but I must admit that I enjoy the autumn season here in the GTA. 🍂 The summer weather looks great there in Halifax and I can’t wait to hear the Big News! 🗞️
I'm sure that eventually Nova Scotia will become one of the best provinces to reside.. I am Québécois but i can see Nova Scotia becoming an envious place in a few year's time..
If you can deal with our high 'Ocean Tax'... it already is one of the best provinces to reside in. The ocean is close no matter where you go and we typically get very little snow compared to the rest of Canada - Trevor
Originally from China, I lived in Dartmouth for more than 5 years and became a Canadian citizen there before moved to the states last year. I always consider HRM (and the entire Nova Scotia) as my second hometown. Every time I think of Halifax I kind of feel homesick. Thank you guys for showing us how it looks like now
I prefer the Dartmouth waterfront. It has a better view, looking towards Halifax and the ocean. Plus the Dartmouth waterfront stays warmer late in the day when Halifax is in the shade.
I came to Halifax on a cruise ship in 2017. Unfortunately it rained heavily the whole day. We headed to Peggy's cove so didn't spend must time in Halifax itself but it had a nice , friendly if rather wet feel. Are the drunken lampposts still there?
He my old apartment! Well not your specific apartment but I had subletted a unit from the same building for the summer to see if could handle apartment living again. The location is incredible--I loved being right on the waterfront. Like living at 3 month festival in the summer. You may not know but city council amended the centre-plan for developers to go by. They increased the allowable height limit to 40 stories in some corridor specific areas. One of these areas is around the MacDonald bridge dark side. There could at least five 40 story buildings started there soon. We need them--bring it on. I tried searching for a city that had as nice a authentic wooden timber boardwalk. I was surprised I couldn't even a close 2nd. There are more iconic boardwalks of course (Coney Island for one) but if there is a nicer wooden timber boardwalk I don't know where it is at. Oh that burger!
Hopefully you will correct your opinion of jumping in the Halifax harbour… the fact is Halifax has spent the last 10 years investing in our harbour and the water is actually…. Yes actually safe to swim in like when we’re kids.
I LOVE how HRM has changed since I was a child. I can’t believe how much the city has changed in the past 10 years. I remember the days when everyone left for out west, the cities population was flat, and there wasn’t much here. It took a while, and we’ve got far to go, but we’re getting there at a maritime pace lol
People still are moving out west still no jobs it’s new people they are bringing in mostly from India .9 new encampments going up homelessness and crime is growing . Roads have never been worse healthcare also is a real sin here .
Canadians are still leaving to go out west and further. The immigration has boosted our population. They will soon realize how hard it is to financially survive in this province. Though yes Halifax and Nova Scotia will forever be beautiful.
Don't do "Darkside". It didn't come about back in the day as a way of saying Dartmouth the shadow of the peninsula. It was meant to tell you it was now filled the black people that got kicked out of Africville. The "dark" meant pigmentation. - An Old
