He's not, the soul trapped in the memoria is probably Azem's shard, so the OG owner of the black armor. The actual Golbez, the blonde dude from the flashbacks that took the armor after his friend "died" is not a WoL nor an Azem's shard.
The man in the black armor, now trapped in a memoria was Golbez. The man wearing the armor now was his traveling companion and partner who is now trying to allow everyone the ability to die. So maybe the real Golbez whos soul is trapped inside the Memoria crystal was the 13th's WoL. Though
Not this Golbez, but almost definitely the original wearer of the armor who is currently trapped in the memoria. The reason being that both we and Ardbert tended to show mercy and respect to villains even when no one else thought they deserved it, and in the flashback we see that the wearer of the armor is no different.
Yeah, feel like it should have been a sidequest like bozja, but I do understand that after the grand finale of 6.0 they had to make time with something until a new storyline with 7.0, probably.

I love how at 1st it starts as a remix of Dreadful Fight, but then it does its own thing and REALLY make it grand.
That 15 second intro on it's own is fantastic, let alone the rest of the song.
This has such final boss energy to it and that's before we get to Zeromus himself

Well we did find a crystal on the 13th's moon but someone seems to have misplaced it.
Golbez's fight was really hard, I can't imagine how Zeromus will be. But it will be fun! FF4 is one of my favorite games as well!
