The real light is so under powered, it actually helps add to the effects of the OSL effect. The "glow" from the green stones is done so well, it looks like real light.
Considering the OSL is a different color from the real light, I don't see how anyone could say you're cheating. They also come from two different points. Its cleverly done if anything.
I'm so glad you work with other real artists like yourself instead of using AI "art" for your concept and finalized work. It feels so much more alive. Incredible work
I love the subtlety of that green glow of the rocks. It's not super over the top, but still has a sense of mystery and wonder. Excellent build, as always, my friend. God bless!
There’s nothing more annoying than someone saying; “that’s CHEATING!”. What this statement shows is just how insecure people can be about hobbies. Wonderful job as usual 🙏🏼👍🏻
I've been watching you since the channel was tiny and have seen every video, many multiple times. This one was special . . . not in some intense transformative way, but I feel like it highlighted (or maybe object sourced lighted) so many aspects of your content that I love. Creative/original crafts, excellent scripting with soothing narration, thoughtful story-telling/world building with the WIW (and/or the story of each craft), and perhaps my favorite . . . your perfectly dry humor when you showcase mistakes in the crafting process. The humor was top notch in this one. Love this channel man, thanks for your hard work and for sharing your creative endeavors with us. God bless!!
The LED along with the OSL really wraps it together, I think you did a wonderful job as always I love seeing how you literally build your own world in front of us.
I’m able to recall your references to Compaq, 70s wood-paneled walls and Sam and Frodo’s water supply, but I can’t remember if you ever mentioned the painting style you used in this video. It’s so satisfying that your prospector seems to have finally found those glowing green gems! I love everything about this video! Thanks Boylei!!
Very cool. My daughter (11) and I are super-psyched about the WIW game. We were Kickstarter supporters. I am beyond thrilled when you do new WIW builds. Highlight of my Sundays.
Excellent craftsmanship to back up your vivid imagination, Boylei! I don't have the skills (or courage) to attempt an OSL shadow box diorama, so this is all the more impressive to me. Thanks for sharing your skills and imagination with us! My Like is in the 1Ks
I can practically hear the story from how that mine collapsed. "So you want to know about the mine stranger? There is not much to tell, the Gertuga Mine, was a large claim taken by Elrico Gertuga, a Mexican who was trying to build a new life here." "I was one of his co-workers. I prospected, dug, surveyed, and examined the ores." "It was a decent mine. Lasted for three years and made a big profit before it all went to purgatory." "It was a dark spring night. The sky was bleeding with rain and lightning. A lightning strike had struck the main powerline leading into the new mine shaft." "The shaft had been excavated a couple of hours before and the air was still dust-filled. A nearby lamp that had not been disconnected from the powerline erupted like a firecracker, causing a dust explosion." "Parts of the mine collapsed, burying ten miners alive, including Elrico. Nobody survived and the mine was declared too dangerous by the mayor who no doubt was bribed by Elrico's rivals to shut down the mine after he died." "It has been ten years since that event but people keep coming here to investigate that old hole in the mountains. Stories about glowing green gems and collapsed tunnels hiding veins of silver or gold." "I doubt any of those stories are true. Something sure is fishing about the mine. Some of the other miners in the area keep mentioning seeing a green light at night in that area. Hearing strange noises. Like pickaxes, laughter, singing, and screams." "And people have gone missing in that mine. It is fairly unstable, what with the lack of maintenance. So it doesn't shock me. But the numbers are way too big to be constant collapses. Around five people per year disappear down that hole. And that's an average. Over fifty people. Gone." "If you insist on going there take these keys. They should give you access to the tools, wires, and resources of the workshop in the main shaft by the entrance. It is an old Civil War fort supply room door I found in a derelict fort near Texas. You would need a lot of dynamite to open that one by force. So I doubt anybody's managed to peel it open." "I haven't gone back to that claim ever since it collapsed. I will not stop you, that would make me a big hypocrite. As a young lad, I left home to find my fortune as well. But I hope you don't treat your life too carelessly stranger." "After all, you only got one life. And that mine... That mine doesn't seem to want to let go of the past nor anybody who enters it."
Amazing composition and coloring, as always. And compliments to the mini designer; that delighted grin on the Prospector is perfect! Love the lore, as well.
This was great. That pick was amazingly real looking. I like the story idea and could see a movie from this idea. Theres no such thing as cheating when doing this stuff. Its all art
I have been painting and making dioramas for a long time. Have never heard of OSL. I think it’s absolutely wonderful and I also think you did an absolutely wonderful job. Keep up the outstanding work thank you.
This is beautiful, I can't wait for the full book to come out. This finished piece feels like the cool illustrations you see in RPG guidebooks. Fantastic wok as always
I think the subtitles for PVA are wrong. The glue is called polyvinyl acetate. Polyvinyl alcohol is something else, and I’ve never heard of it being used for gluing foam together
You should make a mine tunnel, but while the workers find "gems," when they go to swing their pickaxes, they break the skin of a giant hibernating rock golem or something like that.
This is one "mine-blowing" paint session! I am just in awe of what You did with this one! Your light and shadow effects are unearthly! I Love It!! Say, glowing green rocks . . . . . . . Kryptonite ?? Thank You for sharing with Us here in tubeland! Looking forward to the next video, Take Care, Be Safe, God Bless, Later
BTW, the PVA in PVA Glue stands for PolyVinyl Acetate. I think PolyVinyl Alcohol is usually abbreviated as PVOH for some reason, and it is used in manufacturing lots of stuff, oddly including PVA glue. I fell down the rabbit hole of researching different glues, how they are made, and why they work once. Fascinating and useless knowledge, so I wanted to share. 😂
OSL reminds me of how baked lighting is done in video games. Because ray tracing is super hardware expensive you could pre render or bake the lighting in the scene. It’s similar considering it’s not real lighting but it can look almost just as good. Just unfortunately not dynamic just like baked lighting
This is awesome! I love the OSL, especially the green lighting. Does this mean that you also have plans of doing the mine he finds with glowing green gems? Because that would be awesome! You could use leds to light up broken pieces of green glass bottles for the gems. Oooh I just thought of an idea at the last minute, what if you used "rolling lights" to make the gem's lighting flow into the mine, and at the end is a mechanical dragon? Or a community of dwarves that are hard at work making equipemnt?
I sharply disagree with anyone who says that that paint job isn't AWESOME ! You have the OSL effect from the front , and the paint job at the back enhances what little light the " lamp " gives off making it look far brighter than it is . Great job on this one man !
The real light is so under powered, it actually helps add to the effects of the OSL effect. The "glow" from the green stones is done so well, it looks like real light.

There is no cheating in art. (Other than stealing other people's work, of course)
That "oh right" spoke volumes
I'm so glad you work with other real artists like yourself instead of using AI "art" for your concept and finalized work. It feels so much more alive. Incredible work
Excellent OSL - this looks amazing Boylei!
Thanks, man!
I love how you just turn foam into something amazing!
Wonderful work as always, Boylei!

So awesome! The figure sculpt turned out perfectly and I love the storytelling you did with light. WIW !!
Very cool. My daughter (11) and I are super-psyched about the WIW game. We were Kickstarter supporters. I am beyond thrilled when you do new WIW builds. Highlight of my Sundays.
The lamp actually enhanced the OSL than anything else, definitely looks superb. Great job!
Excellently displayed. Love the simplicity of the colors from double source OSL (Lamp & Gems)
I am always so inspired by your videos 😊
He certainly looks happy. Must have found it!
It’s always a great feeling when you sit down and then suddenly realize that Boylei Hobby Time uploaded a new video.
Excellent craftsmanship to back up your vivid imagination, Boylei! I don't have the skills (or courage) to attempt an OSL shadow box diorama, so this is all the more impressive to me.

Really loved how the mine walls came out!
I love the mix of the lighting through paint and mixing in a physical light source. Makes me really want to practice more lighting through painting!
Creative and awesome work, beautiful shades of green and magical lights...
I have been painting and making dioramas for a long time. Have never heard of OSL. I think it’s absolutely wonderful and I also think you did an absolutely wonderful job. Keep up the outstanding work thank you.
That looks outstanding! Great job on the OSL.
Very beautiful. the paint does exactly suggest lights 👍👍
This is beautiful, I can't wait for the full book to come out. This finished piece feels like the cool illustrations you see in RPG guidebooks. Fantastic wok as always

You and studson are the reason I ever got into this hobby of miniature painting and diorama building so thanks so much for
Beautiful green effect!
Thank you for this very pleasant 10 minutes!
You should make a mine tunnel, but while the workers find "gems," when they go to swing their pickaxes, they break the skin of a giant hibernating rock golem or something like that.
I love the combination of osl and little light. Looks phenomenal!
Awesome diorama.
Burning the wood is just free weathering, gives it history.
The lighting paint work is so realistic
I love the whole effect, which is the important part.
Love this mini! Def will buy it!
Epic painting. 🖼️ you are a true legend 🔥
Oooh that's a GREAT paint job! And I love the wild hair and facial expression on the mini.

Good enough for me.
Stay blessed. Love what you share.
You got me into minis and the hobby thanks so much!
Your battle of five armies video is what got me hooked on Warhammer painting
Amazing work as always! Excited to paint this guy for myself when the box sets ship out.
An effective light work with the painting.
every time you say foam safe super glue you should play that clip of foam melting that you have!
Very cool, like OMG that OSL is just (insert acronym Alan).
Amazing, Absolutely Amazing, and You Always Make It Look So Easy. 🙂👍👍👍
Always love a trip back to the WIW
Although I am not sure why, this one is one of my favorites! I like the colors and the lighting effects.. Great job!
Amazing acronyms! Love the build!
That paint-job is truly mind-blowing.
For real, I still can't believe it doesn't use any lights!!!
You've outdone yourself. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Wow that was quick!😲👍🏼
i love hearing you talking as you are working and not just being a voice over its so funny
I absolutely love this one
Your story telling is perfect. 👌
This is just God smack amazing well done! I wish I had these skills and the patience to make stuff like this
Wow! That is incredible.
Thanks for lifting the veil on the clown show. Lol it’s nice to know that even the most gentle, calculating people are no strangers to the circus!
Last of Frodo and Sam's water supply got a genuine lol.
I can't believe im so early!
Long time watcher, big fan of yours! Keep it up 👍
I can't believe I'm first This is amazing. Excellent job this is one of my favorite channels.
OSL Is such a fun technique to do, and you've done this well!
The compaq computer reference made me giggle!! :) I remember when I wanted one of those computers!! :)
Love the idea of using an electric tealight candle
that looks AWESOME!!!
For a moment I thought 'They have electricity in the WIW?'? And then I remembered charged bullets and Forestalls. Derp.
God damn. What happened? The patron list used to be at least 8 times quicker. Proud of you man!
Looks great.👍👍
That is crazy cool! 😮😊
This video was absolutely littered with TLA's (Three Letter Acronyms)! Great vid!
this is AMAZING and i am FROTHING AT THE MOUTH
Really cool light effects man! It does indeed look like it's being iluminated by a nearby green light source!
This is phenomenal! Nice work!
Love the lighting paint job on this!
the “oh there it is” whisper is my favorite part of this video 😂
YESS ME TOO!
My favorite part is black 4.0!!!
That was Aweosme!
Brilliant effects

I thought that I saw alcohol. Thank you for letting me know I'm not just hallucinating.
@sw33n3yto00 LOL, yeah, I backed it up and paused it to make sure I wasn't losing my mind!
Honestly wtf. Looks like a green light is lighting the model. Very well done !
That’s awesome. Great job
i love the acronyms so much
Some real north of the border style humor thrown in this one. Digging it.
So good!
Immaculate OSL.
I'm ready to see Dark 5.0 someday. Some say it's so dark it's bright.
always enjoyable
Awesome stuff, I can't wait to play WIW :)
Made OSL look easy!
This video is O.M.G so good...
6:15 holy FRICK thats amazing

terrific!!
