“A british guy named Hans Wilsdorf”😂 we have all heard of those British guys named Hans.
In fact, he was German and only took British citizenship when he was in his mid 70s (1955).
Even taking citizenship didn't alter his nationality. He was German.
Wilsdorf English partner was Davis, a relation of mine! I wish he’d stayed a partner! 😆
@@secondtimearound4761 I can imagine, yes!
It is an illness! What’s the name of the song you use at the of all your videos? Thanks
Yea…Root beer rocks…..summer stunner for sure. 😍
Great video! Rolex market is still hot. There are still waitlists. That will never change. I wish I could go back to 05 where you walk in and walk out with a sub, explorer maybe a GMT. Glad I bought mine when I did but if I wanted one I would go grey. Life is too short. By the time you get one the watch won’t matter anymore. If you want something without playing games just go grey is what I hear and believe that is correct for those hard to come by models.
lol at paying $20K for a Pepsi I could spend another $5K and get an Overseas which is orders of magnitude superior in every way.
Why can’t you do both? Get the watch and go on the trip. So you wait for an AD with no purchase history. Maybe you need to buy some other watches you do not want which in the end will cost you maybe 20-30K anyway. By that point you would have already taken the trip. So do both. lol!!!
Great video Marc and shabbat shalom! Wilsdorf did move to England and ended up in Switzerland later, but he was German in origin.
people can cry all they want about the AD situation, but when you finally get one, there's nothing more special than solid Rolex piece on the wrist. Its not high horology, but its a dang solid watch worth paying a few extra thousand than an Omega that loses 30% of the value when you walk out the door.
Wearing my secret Rolex, Tudor GMT Pepsi.
Diet Pepsi
@@marcgoldbergdogtrainer still Pepsi
So true!
What town is are you in?
“Is are you in”…very nice.
Detroit
Glad to see you rolling out content again!
Great video! Are you friends with Archie Luxury aka Paul Pluta ? LOL!
Love your enthusiasm Mark . They have gangs in London that target Rolex wearers , if I had one I’d be to afraid to wear it. Although I would still like one. Any suggestions for alternatives?
There is no alternative that will give you the same feeling. Insure it. Wear long sleeves. Avoid gold or two tone. Wear a wrist sweatband over it. Take off the bracelet and put it on a nato, rubber or leather strap when you’re out and about. Just a few ideas.

What goes down will eventually come up
Another big downside of Rolex is the amount of counterfeit out there. U cannot tell who is wearing a genuine or a fake Rolex which make the genuine owner feels ‘shameful’ wearing one
The brand name Rolex is quite appealing. I love that ending scene with The Founder with Michael Keaton playing Ray Croc on why he wanted to own and buy McDonalds. It's because of the name. There may be better watches or fancier watches but Rolex will always have the highest brand recognition.
Goldberg I’m pretty convinced you’ve liquidated a lot of your collection. Do a state of the collection video and show the collection
lol no I have everything. Sold nothing.
Awesome comments, Marc! I have noticed my AD is a lot more friendly to me lately. Hmmm.
If one is concerned about value retention when they buy it, one cannot actually afford the watch.
What you have there is an opinion, not a fact. It’s your opinion and I respect it, but do recognize the difference.
@@marcgoldbergdogtrainer You’re correct there Marc. My subjective opinion is indeed not objective truth, definitionally.
@@jasonlarson9886 although I can well afford what I buy, always paying cash, there is a reason why value retention concerns me. And that is because I enjoy knowing that if I ultimately become bored with a watch or want to upgrade, that I can easily do so. I wish I were one of those people who could buy a water or two and then use them for a lifetime and never think twice about trading them in. In fact I wish I was that way about cars too lol
@@marcgoldbergdogtrainer Brother, you should come over to the dark side and make horrible financial decisions with guitars. 😀
@@jasonlarson9886 hahah!! We all have a bad habit.
People need to stop moaning, grow up and just buy a Rolex. I don't need high horology and fancy movements. I just need a timeless Rolex timepiece that will likely be worth more than i paid for it one day. Best advice is save your money, dont waste it on crap brands and buy a bloody Rolex. The quicker you come to this realisation the quicker you can move on with your life
Of course you don’t need high horology if you own a Rolex it’s called rationalization. Rolex is the epitome of mass production and cult of personality. Literally all style and no substance.
If one of the spring bars fail while diving, good bye thousands of dollars! (The obvious solution which Rolex doesn't take is screwed lugs)
I have had a screw come out of a link on a Rolex bracelet before, but I have never had a spring bar break
The old spring bar failure comment. Often used, rarely seen
@@marcgoldbergdogtrainer It's just a numbers game. Hasn't happened to me either, but I heard plenty of stories. They say at the bottom of every lake or dive spot can be found a couple of Rolexes
It's the best. All other brands are shady shady shady af.
Some TH-camrs give me the meat. Some TH-camrs give me the potatoes. But Marc ...
Your videos are so bright.
Can we see the collection
yes
Things to like...
6) Assuming it's worn...the Rolex is an instant family heirloom.
7) Parts are available for vintage models (the Rolex of today will be a vintage model eventually). So that's nice.
8) There are lots of videos and IRL watchmakers around who can confirm a real Rolex and what should come within the box.
Things to hate...
6) -2 to +2 s per day...no one wants to be late...should be 0-4s imo, i know it doesn't sound as glitzy...but still no one wants a watch losing time.
7) There is a visceral dislike for the brand among my friends (blue collar workers...) it's kind of 'uppity.'' They assume a Rolex = $10k...they've never even checked the prices of AD or used items. They do, however, tolerate my explorer 40.
-YMMV
Heirloom lol dude it’s an assembly line watch you act like it’s a handmade piece of art
Great points!
@Melontheyoutuber you don’t have one. It’s always to spot those who don’t. 😂
Wear long sleeves and you will be alright.
I don't like how Rolex is easily accessible. The common man wears Rolex. Time to go upstream.
Congratulations, look at you big money baller! Most watch enthusiasts don’t find Rolex easily accessible, but not you. Congratulation! You win 🥇. Hey, do you also have a watchmaker on call in case your haute horology pieces need some loving? Please enlighten us, oh great Oz!
@@michaelriera6277 Who doesn't have an in-house watchmaker? Literally, my watchmaker lives in my house! Well, the house next to my maids' house which all are on my estate.
to bad you can not buy one. 4 months now have not heard from james and son's so went to other brand.
4 months! I've been waiting over 6 years, and I will never hear from them.
Lick and subscribe? Really?😂
Try it. You might lick er like it.
