whats amazing is because some '90s families tend to have so many children due to poor family planning, this led to family gatherings today being made of dozens of aunts and uncles, and more cousins in one large house. not good for economic reasons but very fun people to make memories with notheless

numbers doesn't matter, it's the culture of family values that gathered us filipinos... 2022 philippines birth rate census is now 1.9 lower than the world average of 2.0... fyi

There’s beauty in numbers 🙏 when the pandemic hit, some of our siblings lost their jobs but since we all live in one roof we combined the earnings of those who were able to work from home and carry the expenses of those who were unfortunate. We survived 😊 until we are back to normal. 🥳

Filipinos loves to sing, it's part of our culture and the fact that every family has someone who sings well. maybe the tito or tita or someone from younger generations.
but this was all for fun for us Filipino to sing on gatherings.
I remember back in high school, I have a classmate who sing exactly like "Evanescence" but she didn't pursue a singing career. It was just a hubby or she just likes to sing for fun only.

relate much as filipina coming from a blood of singers myself ! ahm like 96 percent in my clan are good singers too , 8 of them are vocalists in a band including me and my two brothers way back then. Now im into rock songs and think i can sing any genre but im really not driven to compete in a singing competition. I just love doing karaoke with my gazillion cousins and sing in a wedding or do some live jam session with my previous band ! And we had these dreams to own a bar and a restaurant /cafe someday , so all can be in a band and a homecooked as well ! And of course do hunt some homegrown talent because im a songwriter and a composer as well. nad love to help some young generations to be a singer .

this is normal in the Philippines, we don't need to have special occasions to do kareoke; when your friends visit turn on kareoke, when you're bored, family gathering, or some special occasion. our parents teach us how to sing even before we start to talk.

When I was a kid in the early 80s we dont have a TV but we have a small transistor radio for listening to music and AM/FM radio stations. Then on the early 90s my father bought a small speaker with a tape player and microphone coz he used to sing a lot in provincial singing competitions. We still dont have a television when I studied in College but I'm happy that I was able to learn and appreciate music through karaoke-singing.

The one that is used in the house for karaoke is actually not a coin karaoke machine; though, there might be one available. It is more common to buy Karaoke Mic and CD for home karaoke. If you notice in the 2nd video, the mic the girl used have controls that is use to choose songs and other features usually seen in a karaoke remote control. The CD with a list of different karaoke music is played using a DVD player while the Mic is attach to a DVD player or smart TV. And Viola you have your own home karaoke.

Most Filipinos can sing that's why survival/talent shows here in the Philippines have high standards. We really don't know who can sing better because in every part of our country, there will always be someone who is better than the others. Also, dancing. It's normal for us. Even those people who "can't sing" in the eyes of other people are actually good singers when they're in other countries or even here. It's just that the standards are quite high so to capture the audience, you really need to have a unique quality of voice and personality.

I looked up the karaoke machine that's famous in the Philippines and their cheapest one cost about 500 USD (which is about 460k won in Korea)... It's a famous brand but I wasn't expecting it to cost that much LOL. Goes to show how big Karaoke is over there. I'm sure there's cheaper versions though because the normal household would not be able to afford that either lol; here I was hoping to get one coz I miss singing karaoke so much as a Filipino myself but alas... maybe in the future when I get enough money saved. Thanks Handa Studio for the awesome reacts!

90% of Filipino houses have their own karaoke system. Whether you like it or not, you have no choice but to listen to the neighbor. But, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO THROW A STONE ON THE ROOF IF THEY ARE OUT OF TUNE. So you better turn down the volume if you are not sure if you can sing well.
Yeah, Don't forget the tomatoes, eggs and rotten vegetables too. That is why, 'auto tune' among artists will be a SERIOUS CRIME to Filipino artists. ahahaha!

Even if we don’t sing, we’ll still sing, it’s all about the good vibes. Plus most people will hype you up to perform, especially moms who want you to sing in front of her friends and coworkers 😂😂
