Filipinos loves to sing, it's part of our culture and the fact that every family has someone who sings well. maybe the tito or tita or someone from younger generations. but this was all for fun for us Filipino to sing on gatherings. I remember back in high school, I have a classmate who sing exactly like "Evanescence" but she didn't pursue a singing career. It was just a hubby or she just likes to sing for fun only.
Yes even in the old days filipinos who plant rice are singing 😊 so its in our blood when we do cleaning and other things even before karaokes we already have the ears on music
relate much as filipina coming from a blood of singers myself ! ahm like 96 percent in my clan are good singers too , 8 of them are vocalists in a band including me and my two brothers way back then. Now im into rock songs and think i can sing any genre but im really not driven to compete in a singing competition. I just love doing karaoke with my gazillion cousins and sing in a wedding or do some live jam session with my previous band ! And we had these dreams to own a bar and a restaurant /cafe someday , so all can be in a band and a homecooked as well ! And of course do hunt some homegrown talent because im a songwriter and a composer as well. nad love to help some young generations to be a singer .
whats amazing is because some '90s families tend to have so many children due to poor family planning, this led to family gatherings today being made of dozens of aunts and uncles, and more cousins in one large house. not good for economic reasons but very fun people to make memories with notheless
numbers doesn't matter, it's the culture of family values that gathered us filipinos... 2022 philippines birth rate census is now 1.9 lower than the world average of 2.0... fyi

There’s beauty in numbers 🙏 when the pandemic hit, some of our siblings lost their jobs but since we all live in one roof we combined the earnings of those who were able to work from home and carry the expenses of those who were unfortunate. We survived 😊 until we are back to normal. 🥳

Not just in every houses, Even Beaches have a karaoke machine (Coin karaoke) several Family gatherings are held in Resorts celebrate their Birthdays every cottage has Karaoke.
this is normal in the Philippines, we don't need to have special occasions to do kareoke; when your friends visit turn on kareoke, when you're bored, family gathering, or some special occasion. our parents teach us how to sing even before we start to talk.
It is kind of sad to know that most families in Korea that have little family communication and gatherings. I guess I was lucky that I grew up in an environment with a HUGE Family that gathers multiple times a year and every gatherings were a feast, songs and laughter and just good times in general.
Singing within families in Philippines dont need to be a holiday we do it anyday, anytime with family, friends or even new aquitance and no need to be a good singer you can sing all you want.
This is a common practice in our family/relative gatherings from birthdays, anniversaries to Christmas and New Years since we have a big family and some parlour games as well..
When I was a kid in the early 80s we dont have a TV but we have a small transistor radio for listening to music and AM/FM radio stations. Then on the early 90s my father bought a small speaker with a tape player and microphone coz he used to sing a lot in provincial singing competitions. We still dont have a television when I studied in College but I'm happy that I was able to learn and appreciate music through karaoke-singing.
when you come here in the philippines, every day you will hear people singing like it's the grand finals of a competition, it's just a normal day in the philippines
The one that is used in the house for karaoke is actually not a coin karaoke machine; though, there might be one available. It is more common to buy Karaoke Mic and CD for home karaoke. If you notice in the 2nd video, the mic the girl used have controls that is use to choose songs and other features usually seen in a karaoke remote control. The CD with a list of different karaoke music is played using a DVD player while the Mic is attach to a DVD player or smart TV. And Viola you have your own home karaoke.
You know even if there are no gatherings in the family or among friends, videoke is the common pasttime of the Filipinos. Especially now that you can access videoke on you tube.
Most Filipinos can sing that's why survival/talent shows here in the Philippines have high standards. We really don't know who can sing better because in every part of our country, there will always be someone who is better than the others. Also, dancing. It's normal for us. Even those people who "can't sing" in the eyes of other people are actually good singers when they're in other countries or even here. It's just that the standards are quite high so to capture the audience, you really need to have a unique quality of voice and personality.
Pilipinos are just happy people. We find enjoyment in being with with our family and friends and learned to share what we have, even the smallest things. What bind us together is knowing the love of Jesus Christ our savior. Pilipinos are very generous people and friendly people. I take pride in being pilipino, and I respect everyone around me,even if they don’t respect me. God will take care of the rest.amen.
90% of Filipino houses have their own karaoke system. Whether you like it or not, you have no choice but to listen to the neighbor. But, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO THROW A STONE ON THE ROOF IF THEY ARE OUT OF TUNE. So you better turn down the volume if you are not sure if you can sing well. Yeah, Don't forget the tomatoes, eggs and rotten vegetables too. That is why, 'auto tune' among artists will be a SERIOUS CRIME to Filipino artists. ahahaha!
I looked up the karaoke machine that's famous in the Philippines and their cheapest one cost about 500 USD (which is about 460k won in Korea)... It's a famous brand but I wasn't expecting it to cost that much LOL. Goes to show how big Karaoke is over there. I'm sure there's cheaper versions though because the normal household would not be able to afford that either lol; here I was hoping to get one coz I miss singing karaoke so much as a Filipino myself but alas... maybe in the future when I get enough money saved. Thanks Handa Studio for the awesome reacts!
In today's era.. there's no need to buy for karaoke machine for that worth.. smart tv and a mic will do.. in the Philippines people can sing anytime anywhere if they want to..it's a usual bonding moment for family and friends..when you are stress sing to your heart's content..
Ours is just a blutooth speaker with dual microphone,it only costs 2500 pesos and the sound is actually quite good. Tv connected to pc and internet connection to access youtube.
There's a mix of professional singers... Mariane Osabel, who sang "Listen" at the family gathering, is an active professional singer who has already debuted.
Remembering Multiplex? That was the beginning. We have one at home. We listen to music everyday at home. The radio was always on whatever’s you were doing especially the laundry so there. Filipinos love music.
Koreans are also very good in singing and creating music. Your men can sing high notes (falsetto). I love BTS and Korean Seoul. Here in the Philippines we all sing and we started singing at birth 😅

But, you might some family do karaoke while at the wake they beleive bad spirits will drive away do to noise they make and ofcourse while at the wake everybody should not be sleeping..
Filipinos culture is very family-oriented. It’s not rare to see homes with at least 3 generations living in them. Singing is like an everyday thing for us. Even if we don’t sing, we’ll still sing, it’s all about the good vibes. Plus most people will hype you up to perform, especially moms who want you to sing in front of her friends and coworkers 😂😂
Noraebang (노래방) or Karaoke is a big part of Filipino culture. It stems from the Karaoke being patented by a Filipino Roberto Legaspi Del Rosario. So, it just made sense that singing is a hobby in the Philippines.
