Leslie, I have two questions for you 😄 1.: What's your absolute favorite fiber (or fiber blend) to knit with? 2. Are you happy with your crafting journey this year? Is there anything you will do exactly the way that you've done this year or are there things that didn't worked out for you which you"ll change maybe? I love your video content! You are one of my most favorite TH-camrs! Thank you for all the work you always put in! I wish you wonderful, peaceful and relaxing holidays ❤
Love your pups. Yeah, older pups have issues at times. I lost my girl in August. It’s really hard. She walked up to my house in pretty rough condition. Going blind and not hearing well anymore was hard on her with my 2 little grandkids around all the time. She was so tiny. Once we find our forever home I’m definitely going to adopt a dog again.
Hi Leslie! Nice to find out more about you and your pups in this video. I think with your engineering brain, you might really enjoy video from Norman of Nimble Needles. He's a German TH-camr who does absolutely the most detailed, comprehensive looks at different kind of increases, decreases, etc., as well as just the mechanics of how the yarn path going through the stitches affects edge stitches, for example. He's very thorough and really geeks out over the details. I've been knitting since 1968, and I've learned a lot from him! He also has some cute patterns too.
I feel your tiredness with Buddy not sleeping, my elderly cat has started this strident meowing day and night "YIOAW, YIOAW, YIOAW" I cannot figure out what she wants.....it's exhausting So much fun to watch you making progress on Sweet Shop Blanket! It's got me thinking about random DK skeins in my stash that I could coordinate together into a blanket. I'm getting inspiration from how good yours looks with the paired up semi-tonals and variegated/speckled.
As soon as you said small engineering school in SoCal, I knew you were going to say Mudd, haha. I also went to a small liberal arts college in SoCal and used to run against CMS in XC and track :)
Buddy is your old guy, yes? We dealt with nighttime challenges when our old dude Quinn was up there in years. It can be so challenging. If it continues, I would recommend talking to his vet about prescribing diazepam for bedtime. It was a lifesaver for us the last couple years. Sending restful thoughts for all of you!
Ditto. Just went through that last year. Very difficult and emotional. Also don't delay a vet visit. Often those nighttime troubles are caused by something unbeknownst to us but clear to a vet with some lab work. Better to know and be able to treat sooner rather than later. Wishing and hoping for the best. 🐕🐾♥️
Yep came here to say something similar. Our best boy couldn't stay settled at night and it turned out to be pain related. We were able to get some medication for him that helped for a while. He was also a black lab mix (that like buddy, looks just like a black lab 😊). He was my best pal, and in the end he had bone cancer. Everything turned down very fast, and I miss him terribly. Sending big hugs to your pups. Take care.
I think moving the swift further away would help even out the tension and create a softer decline from swift to winder. Do you think the direction of the yarn coming off the swift vs. the direction of the winder is a factor?
Thank you for sharing a little bit of your background and life! What is your favorite yarn shop in the San Diego area? I visited two last February when I was there to see family. I am hoping to get back again this winter.
Ah, another comment - I shouldn't have commented so soon! I have an older lab mix too - he looks much like Buddy but just a plain pink tongue and two floppy ears. I'll bet Buddy sheds enough for three dogs - I know!
The swift isnt the problem - i think its the tensioners on the winder - they look like the tensioners on old sewing machines - I wonder if you can unscrew them to loosen the tension
Yarn clip on the swift! Love it! Thank you for sharing❤.
Really enjoyed this vlog. It was so nice to hear a bit more about you and yours and the cute doggies.
Thanks for taking the time this month to share ❤
The dogs are SO CUTEEEEE I simply cannot. They made me tear up a little.

How did you get started creating knitting patterns? What's next in your knitting journey?

Omg. Clipping the yarn end is genius! Thank you so much for sharing, I hate winding and hopefully this helps make it better.

Ahhhh I was rooting for you for a row counter 😅

Apricot Yarn & Supply!
@@knitcalifornia Thank you, that was one that I visited, and it was a very nice store!
Don’t forget Huely ❤

I enjoy the longer video. The blue yarn you wound is beautiful but that ball winder to me is crappy.
Jodi from the Grocery Girls says she had better luck not threading the yarn through all the places they tell you.
The blanket it looking so good! Hope buddy starts sleeping and you get some nap time!
