Great 😊 honest and in my opinion accurate review of one of the classic saks . By now I think victorinox know exactly how to make a knife. Quality value functionality high end product. Can’t remember ever not owning a few saks . Recently bought this model and the sports man , both great 👍🏻. But I wish they would put scissors on one or both of these models to make them perfect for me. Fantastic work Gus , thanks for your efforts 👍🏻😎😊
Exactly, I was meant to mention what I'd like to do to upgrade it further: I would keep the two springs and have the scissors ✂️ on one and the main blade with the combo tool, as in the Bantam on the other spring... I reckon they could also push the envelope out a little, with a possible Alox 84mm 3x spring - sporting a 3D in line Pozi/Phillips with a shallow cut out on the side of the scale to fit it in + I would also embed a tapered 'pry bar end. Always appreciate great feedback Marc 👌 Thanks for watching buddy, Atb Gus 👍
@@gadgetgus that would be perfect 👍🏻. I suppose we are a bit spoiled for choice, but I can never quite get the exact tool configuration I want lol 😂 why are we never happy? , although I must say the field master and the farmer x are very good for my own preference 👍🏻😎
Hey Robert 💪 Thanks, I appreciate the kind words, buddy 🍻 This is another one I rotate at the weekend, when I don't need scissors... Glad you enjoyed it, Atb Gus 👍
Excellent, spot-on review of a classic, wonderfully efficient workhorse. I thoroughly enjoyed your enthusiasm for all things (1) Victorinox and (2) Alox, so you've obtained a new subscriber. Thanks for the great review, and keep up the great work. P.S. - I just ordered another one of the Cadet in Red Alox, as well as an Electrician (which, like the Bantam, doesn't have the key ring - of which I share your mild annoyance).
Cheers 🍻 buddy, welcome aboard! I really appreciate you saying so... that means a lot 🙏 I would to get a Red Cadet, for sure. I love your picture of the landscape 👌 Glad you enjoyed the videos and for stopping by, All the best, Gus 👍
Appreciate your positive feedback 🙏 buddy 🍺 350/400 Double GAW coming soon, just been super busy at work - hold tight! 😉 Thanks for watching, Atb Gus 👍
First thing I did when I received it in the mail was filing off the keyring. Slick in the pocket. The new file I reckon is better use than the predecessor.
Happy Friday Gus, I personally prefer the older style nail file with stippling rather than the post 2018 crosscut style nail file & FYI all post 2018 84mm Cadets & 84mm Sportsman now have the new style nail file. As a rule I no longer carry a Cadet as part of my EDC rotation as I don't live in the UK ( I am a native Londoner ) & there being no knife blade size or locking mechanism restrictions where I live in Israel, so I am often carrying 111mm SAK's such as the slide lock Picnicker or the 111mm liner lock Garant , rotating them with my 91mm Climbers & Huntsman with various Civivi flipper knives or traditional lock blade knives like the Buck 110 & 112 . I still have 2 Cadets, a black pre-2018 one & the 2020 Limited edition Aqua blue one, both are in mint condition & my well used other black, red & silver ones ( all pre-2018 models ) I gave away to work colleagues before I retired .
On reflection... deep down, I agree - the 'stippled' one is better, as its less course & more refined, but costs more to produce. If they kept the 45° leading edge on the file, rather than the 90° that would have been something. Always appreciate your insightful & valued feedback 👌 Shabbat Shalom Steve 🍷 Atb Gus 👍
Absolutely... that would be cool 😎 I may have mod one in the future! 😁 I use most of them, especially the Electrican, Cadet & Bantam - great EDC's 👌 Thanks for watching, Atb Gus 👍
Yes... agreed, a few others and myself have suggested the same or a similar set up, especially for a urban environment - maybe one day! I have see a few people who have modded there Cadet, tk do this... I appreciate your valued feedback and for watching buddy, Atb Gus 👍
@@gadgetgus thanks for the great content! I just need to get my hands on some 84mm scissors, which is unlikely. I may try modifying some 91mm to fit but I'd still need an old scissors back spring... One day
Great review, as always, Gus. I own one of these too and have been gifting this model recently because it such a classy design and should last for years. Question, aside from the tiny Classic (a key ring tool really), which gets the most pocket time for you?
The Cadet & the Electrician 👌 I enjoy all of the Alox range and EDC them most days, tailored to suit my day/weekend. They are some of my most popular carries and I may actually custom build my own one day... - ie. 2 spring 84mm frame with knife & combo tool in one spring and a scissors in the other + an embedded pry bar/scraper/Screwdriver! A 3 spring would have all of the above + the a pozi/Phillips shallow 3D driver, with a slight 'cut out' on the side if the frame... just an idea 😁 Thanks for your positive feedback, much appreciated Phil and glad you enjoyed the video buddy, Atb Gus 👍
Hi buddy 👊 As I've got size XL hands, I find the Pioneer is better suited to me and has a stronger blade & backspring. However, for everyday carry, the Cadet is more acceptable in an urban environment. Hope that helps & thanks for watching, Atb Gus 👍
The only issue is that if they put the combination tool on there instead of the separate bottle opener and can opener, they would have space for another tool. Maybe a pair of scissors?
Exactly... I have contacted Victorinox, some months ago to suggest a few ideas 💡 including that - it would probably be their No.1 seller or in the top five, for sure! Thanks for stopping by and really appreciate your valued feedback 👌 Atb Gus 👍
Hey buddy, For me, the SAK Electrician is a robust knife with practical tools for everyday & great value 👌 for the toolbox 🧰 or car 🚗 The Bantam & Cadet both make for ultralight EDC's with good, essential tools... Thanks for watching, and I appreciate your feedback, Atb Gus 👍

Love my cadet, but wish there was a model with the can opener switched for some scissors. That would be perfection.
Hey buddy 👊🏼
I hear that, I have seen some mods that morphed into the CadetX - awesome! 👌🏼

I love the bantam too but its so small and light it disappears, I have lost 3 of them.
I feel your pain, mine fell out in car (alox) 😢
Would you say the Cadet or the Pioneer? As the only one SAK for example?
