Fantastic Review Gus. Enthusiastic as ever... I love the Recruit and bought one each for 3 of my kids and Grandaughter ( aged 9, 10, 12 and 13). Of course even with my safety talk before giving them the knives - within 5 minutes 2 of the kids came to me with cuts on their fingers as all SAKs come supe sharp from the factory!!!🤣 Since then no more cuts - so they learnt their lesson....😁
Cheers, Mark! 🍻 Appreciate the real, positive feedback, buddy 💪🏼 The value for money is fantastic, so makes a great gift for family & friends, as well as ourselves... 😁 A super option for a first knife, for sure! 👌🏼 Kids are kids... ☺️ I remember my grandad showing me how to use a penknife and chisel at 8 years old, and I got my first Victorinox when I was 9. When he was supervising me, I never cut myself, it's was only when I was working with my Dad on Saturdays or holidays and cutting open sand & cement bags or packages that I cut myself, as I was rushing - less haste, more speed... Thanks for taking the time to comment, and getting your unique insight... Have a great weekend, brother 🫂 ATB Gus 👍🏻
Excellent EDC I love mine Mate it has everything for me and my tasks thanks for the review! Anne is great reviewer by the way I like her reviews Mate !
Hey buddy 👊🏼 Cheers, appreciate the positive feedback 💪🏼 It is one of the best value for money SAK's, certainly in the 84mm range at present 👌🏼 I'm happy you enjoyed the video, and thanks for stopping by, ATB Gus 👍🏻
Hey Jeremy 👊🏼 For sure, any model close to the original, two layer frame is always going to have a special place 😉 Thanks for watching, buddy, ATB Gus 👍🏻
Enjoyed your look at the Recruit Gus ......a little beauty ! I have one , but don't carry it ..we can't carry them all can we ? 🤣 As you say , a brilliant first knife . Got my ticket ordered buddy ....looking forward to meeting you ! Take care mate , A T B Tony ! 🏴
Brother Tony 🫂 Thanks, buddy, much appreciated 🍻 I'm glad you liked it, as I enjoyed making it 😉 True, true... we can't carry them all at once 😁 I'll be there, Tony - all being well 🙏 As I literally 'escaped' last time, so the nurses may try to tie me down, this time! 😂 It'll be great to meet up, for sure 💪🏼 Be well, my friend, ATB Gus 🏴
RRRaaaandy! 🫂 Thank you very much, buddy ♥️ Yes, the serrated blade is useful, especially by the river/sea or indeed on it. I knew someone who carried this type of recruit in a vehicle, etc, in Canada, in case they ditched into one of the lakes... Though, I prefer the serrated Spartan, which I had in 2011, when canoeing in the Rye valley, as a replacement to a fixed blade, as they became illegal to carry on my PFD - Personal Flotation Device. Always useful to carry ICE, if you capsize and get trapped in reeds, etc, so you can cut yourself out while under the water... Though I would now opt for a Spyderco UKPK Serrated Salt version, in hi-vis yellow or green 😁 As someone who has done quite a bit of climbing, I would of welcomed a serrated Climber version, where the scissors are replaced by a serrated blade or perhaps the Mountaineer where the file is replaced with the serrated blade. Personally, I would prefer that toolset when in those environments... Please excuse the long reply... ATB Gus 👍🏻
Also worth mentioning that the can opener also is an excellent cork opener when a bottle of wine requires it. I almost prefer it over the traditional corkscrew tool. Thus, you are pretty much covered in any social event while carrying the recruit.
Hey buddy 👊🏼 Thanks for that, I appreciate the valid feedback 👌🏼 I have never used the can opener to open a bottle of wine... However, I have used the main blade to open a bottle of wine a few times when a corkscrew wasn't available. Perhaps you could do a video on it to demonstrate the best technique 😉 Cheers 🍻 Thank for watching, ATB Gus 👍🏻
Tks! @@gadgetgus I tried last night making the video but the corkscrew got torn in this particular instance hehe! so I had to run and get my spartan to save the day. Probably I need to get some table top review basic tools, as it is not as easy as it seems hehe! Any gear recommendations is most welcome! Thanks again 👊 Cheers m8! 🍻
Probably yes , it’s a tough job picking from that extensive range. I would love to see say a field master and maybe alox pioneer x , I think 🤔 I would buy any one they choose lol 😜. Nice to have you back mate , God bless
For sure, the Fieldmaster & Pioneer X I often rotate - great pieces of kit! 💪🏼 Thanks again for your kind words, buddy 🙏 Have a great weekend, Mark 😎 ATB Gus 🍻
Gus , did you hear what Jon gadget said on his latest video. Apparently some time next year victorinox may be issuing a better blade steel, I’m sure that’s what he said. Can’t wait 😜
Hey Marc 👊🏼 Yes, I did... that will be great to see 👌🏼 Though, I think I would have asked a lot more questions... 😁 Ie. Would you consider reintroducing the Tinker SM, Executive, Tourist, etc, as a special edition or similar... ATB Gus 👍🏻

Just search in Amazon for those items.
I just use a mobile and an old clamp... 😉
Have 84 mm dif sak, something just perfect with plain scale without cut out. Thx for review.
