The new Asakusa Yokocho food hall, taking over the fourth floor of Tokyo Rakutenchi Asakusa Building, is inspired by Japan’s colourful matsuri (traditional festivals). As such, the interior features flashy signs, festive lanterns and cheerful decorations to remind us of the festivities we miss during the pandemic. For the full matsuri experience, the yokocho will also regularly host dancers performing yosakoi, awa odori or bon odori dances to liven up the mood

Ooh, this location is destined to be on every 'MUST SEE IN TOKYO' list once international travel opens up again. Now that the robot cafe is closed, there's a big empty space for uniquely-Japanese experiences -- and this is approachable to many more people than the robots, really.

I took a Japanese class in college a while ago and I'm surprised how many words I'm recognizing. It's kinda making me want to take up the language again. So cool!
I took three years of japanese in high school a while back and I could recognize alot. If you were to ask me to have a conversation in Japanese, I would fail miserably and end up just responding in English. I also feel like touching up with my Japanese.

This made up encounter is a really good video. I liked it a lot. The lady, Miley, was really a nice ambassador for Japan/Asakusa and hopefully she can show you around in another few videos! Great idea, this will help grow the channel toward a different audience aswell. Just don't forget the nice quiet walks around evening neighborhoods, they have helped me fall asleep many times because they are so serene.👍

Brings back memories. I was born in Asakusa a few years after the war. Tokyo was first bombed in 1945 using napalm and Asakusa was ground zero: everything was burned to the ground as Japanese homes used to be made of paper and wood. It was the single deadliest raid in military history totally destroying 16 square miles of Tokyo and killing about 125,000 civilians. Japanese called that night, "The Night Of The Black Snow" because of the ashes falling. That horrifying night was just the beginning as the other major cities were laid waste as well. 100,000 orphans roamed the rubble of Tokyo after the war, my mother was one: no shelter, no food, no jobs, no businesses. TOTAL WAR. America instead of punishing Japan helped them and they became the strongest democracy in Asia and was the #2 economy in the world until American businesses made CCP China, the sworn enemy of democracy, the #2 economy and #2 military power in the world. Good to see Asakusa thriving. It is my home town and my mother's home so my heart is with Asakusa💖💝
