I’m a 52 year old fisherman from Alaska and we vacation on Oahu pretty much ever February. I would really enjoy fishing with you some time. I’ll be on Oahu in Waikiki January 28th to February 17th of 2023
Whoa, Jesse...you make it look so easy. Are you right or left handed? Noticed one reel w/handle on left and one w/handle on right--why? Also, why does one reel have multi-color braid while the other has solid blue braid (Tightline from HFG?)?
This vid included three different outings hence then different color braids. I’m right handed and was raised reeling in with my right. But I learned to reel with my left as well. When I’m doing general whipping or dunking I’ll retrieve with my right. But if I’m doing more technical fishing the requires a certain lure action such as akule I’ll use my left to reel in. 🤙
The jighead is 1/8oz the hook size varies from 2-2/0. Depending on the hook size I use anywhere from a 2” campania charger to a 3” Hawaiian angler grub.
The dry bag doesn’t have insulation so I think it wouldn’t last more than a couple hours. Hifishgear does sell a cooler back though that is meant to hold ice.
Hey, long shot but love your video and would love to learn to walk the flats if you are open to doing a guide. I don’t mind paying you for your time. I don’t have any buddies that does this and I feel iffy going alone :/
is there a certain way to hook the grub on fairly new to oio fishing any tips would be appreciated 🤙🏾 keep up the videos would love to see more oio vids 🔥🔥🔥
Thread your lure onto the jighead. When retrieving try a bunch of different styles. Slow retrieve while dragging bottom. Retrieve while twitching and then pause. Also try not to move around to much while wading on the flats. Take a couple cast around and then move so you don’t spook anything in your area. Also have the wind to your back so you can get that far cast🤙
@@thropojesse4689 thanks brother I seen some dozers at that bike path spot yesterday I was using 20lb leader some people where telling me the highest you should go is 15lbs oio are finicky fish I guess they were seeing my line
“Something small picking at it…” immediately gets spooled.
Hammah brah. And respect for releasing yeah you

Drag bottom and add some hops🤙
Great videos! So the 1/8 oz jig head is enough weight to whip it out, or do use any other weight on the line? Thanks
It is enough, especially when there’s wind to your back

@@thropojesse4689 Mahalo for the reply, Jesse. I learn something every time I watch your videos. Looking forward to the next one!
Hi, don't mind asking how heavy is the jig head plus how many inch rubber r u using. Btw, love your videos

Thanks for sharing. Screaming reel !
I can’t open your instagram link for the locally made jig heads. How can I buy?
www.hifishgear.com/products/fools-gold-jig-heads-18oz-6pc-assortment-sampler fast shipping in the state of Hawaii or can pickup in store
How long can the dry bag hold ice & keep drinks cool? Could you do a review

What pound test leader and mainline do you use? I found a spot with plenty oio but they seem very skittish. And I can’t seem to catch them.
10 lb braid and 12 or 15lb fluoro leader
Do you think you can share the spot you got it at? 😂
Da Pacific Ocean🤙

Awesome!!
Insane action. Great fishing… make that catching LoL.
Where can you get those rods locally
Gtfightclub.com is based on oahu. But you have to mainly order from japan
Do you perfer braid or monofilament to whip ??
Braid. More sensitivity
What kind of a retrieve are you using with this set up?!
Slow retrieve, drag bottom
Do you get stuck on the reef often? I tried this set up and I kept getting stuck
What set up is that and what is the rod and reel combo?
Details in the description 🤙
