  • In this video, we show you how to change the cabin air filter on a 2004-2009 Toyota Prius. The process is simple and does not require any tools. We start by locating the air filter housing behind the glove compartment, then remove the housing cover to access the filter. We demonstrate how to remove the old filter and replace it with a new one. This process should take around 5 minutes. Remember to check your air filter every 15,000 miles or so and change it when it's dirty. Thanks for watching!

If there's an arrow on the new filter that says "UP" next to the arrow then it's not an air flow arrow. It's simply an "UP" arrow telling us which side goes up because all horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow including Toyotas. This is easy to figure out because if dirty air was flowing from the bottom to the top then all that crud you found on the topside of your old filter would have been trapped under the filter and inside the blower motor. Sonic it says up next to the arrows then point it up but if it doesn't say up then point the arrows down in the direction of the air flow.
