I won’t lie. While this alternate ending is brilliant in its own right, since it gives Bowler Hat Guy a happier fate and makes Doris’ defeat more satisfying, I still prefer the original ending because it’s really powerful seeing Goob realise he was being tricked the whole time and grew ashamed of his crimes against Lewis. Even going so far as to cross out all his plans in his folder and leaving only one box left with a question mark. I really like how he just walks off… unsure what to do next, which is a very unique fate for a Disney villain. Plus, seeing Lewis making the effort himself to wake Goob up to catch the ball, after keeping him awake all night is very sweet and admirable. It further shows us how he’s learned to put the needs of others before his own. Just like when he let his birth mother go, once realising convincing her to keep him would erase Wilbur from existence and that he already has a family and doesn’t wanna give it up.

This alternate ending was nice, but the original was not only better in my opinion, even though a smiling Goob fading out of existence was a bittersweet yet welcoming addition, but also it makes more sense. Doris wouldn’t just let Lewis get his way or just let Goob have his victory since it would lead to Lewis’ own. Her fighting back just makes more sense for the real villain of the story.
i mean it couldve been changed so lewis takes goob to meet his younger self AFTER doris fades into nonexistence i like the ending we got but it would've been interesting to see goob to put an end to his bhg persona and willingly give up his own existence to give his younger self the future he couldn't have as opposed to trying to ruin lewis', effectively "moving forward"
If they ever release a director's cut for Meet the Robinsons, we need this scene in it. I love how Bowler Hat Guy gets to redeem both his past and future selves.
I agree why did they have to delete it they could’ve just keep this and remove Goob and Doris the part where Lewis goes back to the future and the scene where Lewis wakes up Goob
I think i konw how this would work if it wasn't a deleted scene maybe after when lewis says this to Doris im never going to invent you and after that he takes bowler hat guy hear and he wakes himself up and after that they return to the future i think thats how it should have been for this ending
