    Thanks for the comment. Yes, it's about the same as a stage actor in a play. Lots of rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and experience will help. Another thing is to prepare your content in a structured way to help you remember it better. The confidence of knowing your material will help reduce your nervousness.
    Good luck!

    From my opinion, the most challenging thing in a group presentation is how to get your group members to actually work . In most of the group presentations I had before, I suffered to get my team to do at least something.

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Yes, that's the most challenging for many people. Not everyone is motivated the same way. It's good practise for leading a team, so it's also a good challenge for you.

      Yes, it can be hard when everyone is watching you. Just remember that it's also a great opportunity to show what you can do and who you can be. How often do we get that kind of chance? Run with the opportunity! Good luck and thanks for commenting.

    How can i manage the time among all of my team members

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people tend to speak too much. A good rule of thumb is that 60 seconds of speaking (in English) is about 175 words. I usually use this guide:
      60 seconds: 130-150 words
      30 seconds: 65-75 words
      15 seconds: 20-36 words
      So please have your team practice and try to manage their speaking time. The most annoying thing is for a presentation to go too long or over time.
      Good luck.

    The beginning is the hardest part when it comes to giving presentation. Having a full first minute of your presentation committed to memory will help you at the most critical moment.

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you're right. There are nerves and anxiety on top of it all so it's for sure hard to start. That's why practice and experience are so important. Good luck!

    What's the hardest part about giving a group presentation? I think it would be "groupthink.'" Not wanting to downplay another's idea that may not be the best thing for the presentation, but also not wanting them to stop contributing. Thoughts?

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, that's a tough one, for sure. I would suggest "keeping your eyes on the prize"... Make sure you know what the goal of the presentation is, what the main message is that you want to convey and evaluate ideas based on whether they help you reach that goal or deliver that message. You could set out some criteria for what the ideas should help accomplish and use those as a measure. Also consider the time that you have. You won't be able to fit in everything.
      But the BIGGEST measuring stick is would the audience care about it. You have to be clear about what's in it for the audience and what they care about. If an idea does little to nothing for the audience, then it should not go in the presentation.
      Hope that helps. Good luck!

    the hardest thing is
    1- relying on a partner to understand you, cause sometimes you need to work with someone who doesn't quite share your thoughts and values...
    2- you get stuck with someone who does not work as hard as you or doesn't take things seriously...
    3- last, trying to figure out who speaks first or who takes charge of the presentation.
    these are my problems... It's hard communicating with people... oh well...

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's true. So you need more time to prepare and to communicate ideas so you're both on the same page. Also, you're both working towards the same goal. But yes, it's challenging. Good luck.

      Thanks for the excellent question. Not everyone will be equal. That's normal. Approach it like any good team... help each other be the best they can be, and succeed as a team. Give that person something they can be good at, or help them more to reach a competent level. Good luck.

    Nice video! It helps me a lot, however I have a question. After someone introduces me, should I have to summarize the person's part? Or just start my part?

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the question. It depends. If the person didn't summarize their part, you can briefly mention what they talked about. But it's also totally fine to just go into yours.

      Simply say thank you and begin. You can mention what they said, if you like. Good luck!

    I think the most irritating thing in a group presentation is that the members won't comply with each other and they only want to do their separate things.

      Yes, this is a common problem, especially for student presentations.

      Usually, it's an assistant. I don't know of a proper term. Maybe "Slide Switcher"? ;-)

    IF a person in a group is not so good at speeking or describing the topic then what is the best option for me. can i just let him introduce the group and define the topic?

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could. Better yet, give that person additional help and practice to become better. It's a TEAM presentation. Good luck.

    • @CarlKwan

      The next person doesn't have to because he's already been introduced. Just start your presentation.

      Great question. Everybody starts out not being as good as others. Help them and encourage them to do their best. It's a team effort, after all! I think I should make a video about this, so thanks for the inspiration.

    How to get attention from the audience if the presentators aren't interesting yet?

    • @CarlKwan
      @CarlKwan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the presenters are already speaking and what they are talking about isn't interesting? If I'm understanding correctly, then it's up to the presenter to be interesting from the start. Please have a look at the videos about getting the audience's attention for some additional tips.
      Or check out skills.presentationexpressions.com/presentations for 6 secrets to great presentations.
      Good luck!
