Wow, so glad I found this video. Clears up a LOT for me. I was almost thinking of selling my ATEM Mini Pro, but this changed my mind. Now I understand how to combine the two. THANK YOU!!!
Question that I'd love your feedback on....our small church plant setup: 1 laptop that does everything....running Worship Extreme, OBS with 2 cameras only....with some cheap Amazon capture cards...that work 80-90% of the time, but do freeze. I haven't felt the need to upgrade to the ATEM Mini since we don't have more than 2 cameras and the laptop has enough inputs to handle everything....but this seems like it would be more volunteer friendly, maybe. So my questions....what would we gain by switching from our current setup to a setup like yours? THANKS!
I think your setup sounds good for now. If you wanted to add a third camera is where you’d want to look into an Atem. Adding the Atem allows for easy video switching but we run it through OBs so it would add an extra step or two to your process and in turn make the process a bit more complex for volunteers
@@Ministry-Hacks I think next time my capture cards freeze we may upgrade. Super frustrating when that happens lol. Especially when you have a new volunteer. Thanks for the video and the comments/feedback.
If you only need to bring in a still or a video to the ATEM, I would just connect a mobile phone as one of the sources. A mobile phone can be used for presentations or anything that can be displayed on your phone. You can even use it as a camera source with the BlackMagic Design camera app.
Hey nice video. I have a project where 10 different TikTok accounts should stream simultaneously. Each account will have 2 external cameras connected probably to the Blackmagic switcher. Each TikTok account will also have its own recorded voice inputs. What is the ideal infrastructure setup needed?
I’m not super familiar with streaming to TikTok. If you were trying to stream the same video and audio to all 10 accounts you could use a third party called Restream with OBS. It lets you stream to multiple channels at once, but it will be the same stream for all of them. Otherwise I think you’d need something more robust than one atem mini.
Thanks@ I guess TikTok doesn’t allow streaming of recorded videos. The plan is for each TikTok account to have its own external camera setup and live-stream content. What product would you suggest besides the ATEM Extreme? I can do some research on it as well. Thanks!
Hello I can't thank you enough you are awesome ATEM PRO really doesn't do anything important for the stream without OBS and you should use OBS to improve the quality of the stream. As always, great content from you
You need to add a “video input device” in OBS and select black magic design. And if you want the audio from the atem you also need to set an audio input device as well. I’ll try and put together a little video here soon showing how to do this. But I hope this helps in the meantime!
During our livestream at Church is it possible to bring in a small video from PowerPoint or a Scripture from PowerPoint that our Pastor projects on the screen during the livestream?
We are using much of the same gear. We have one major hurdle to overcome, the sound of the worship singing. No problem with the single microphone use, just when we sing the sound is all choppy and mostly nonexistent. Any idea what to look for?
Worship is the hardest hurdle with sound. Most likely your mix is peaking out and you need to turn down the mix you are sending to your Atem or whatever you’re using. Or if you have a noise gate or threshold set it’s hitting that gate and cutting it out. And then you can fine tune the volume up or down within the atem.
OBS works with the Atem mini pro, but the Atem is a video/audio input source into OBS so I’m not sure if the plugin would work to control the Atem if that’s what you’re asking
I'm having trouble making a connection to the ATEM like you have for your scene, I'm sure it's simple, but my atem isn't showing up as a source for some reason...
Check your video source. Try changing it to something else like your computer webcam, then back to the Blackmagic design. See if that works. If you don’t see Blackmagic design as an option make sure everything is connected properly
excuse my limited knowledge, but I've been using OBS Along with a Software called TouchPortal. I have it running both on my mac and as an App inside my iPad v7. This allows me to use it as a switcher while running on my iPad, currently I'm able to add any type of transitions, lower thirds, show the persons title / name as they are giving their talk, and even run a movie clip (intro) and after a set amount of time jump over to any of the camera angles I have pre assigned. Thus allowing a more auto flow from Intro to Live Camera view. Again I'm not sure if I'm missing something the ATEM mini can do that my current set up does not already have. Besides recording multiple cam view and audio *under the new Atem Mini Pro ISO. Any one?
Sounds like you have a nice little setup! Atem is just one way to do it, not the only way. But you can definitely do all those things you mentioned on the Atem using OBS as well.
Great Video! I am using an ATEM Mini Extreme Iso and sometimes my OBS cant find my Video Capture Device ( Blackmagic Design (Atem)). It will work for a week or 2 then randomly obs cant find it. I am not sure what is causing it. Do you ever run into this?
I do experience that too. Not sure why exactly, but if you go to properties for your source in OBS and select a different video input and then switch back to the Blackmagic it works.
@@Ministry-Hacks Thanks, I really appreciate you responding! Does it ever show blackmagic as grayed out for you? When i am in Properties under device, Black magic is grayed out. So when i click the other device the blackmagic option goes away completely.
Great video and this is looking like something we are going to do! My question, and it might be a dumb one, but are you streaming through the ATEM Mini Pro or are you streaming through OBS and using the ATEM Mini Pro as solely a switcher?
I have atem mini pro And the resulting video is very laggy regarding that my output is 4k and settings are 800 iso , shutter speed 1/50 Any idea how do I solve the lagging problem ??
Are you streaming or are you recording? The atem only puts out 1080 resolution either way. But if you are streaming it could be your internet connection causing the lagging. Iso and shutter speed shouldn’t cause lagging.
What are you recording to? Are you using the atem to record or a different computer or software? Check your bitrate and resolution settings in atem or whatever you may be using
Atem mini pro doesn’t have 4k output so that may be part of your problem. It could be clogging up the cache inside the atem because it has to encode all of that, and it will put it out in 1080 max resolution
I have two serious questions 1- When we can connect two cameras with different angles to Nanana, why should we use Sasasa? 2- When I enter the image of Sasasa into Nanana, the CPU goes up and my image is corrupted.
I would start by setting your camera to 1080p 30fps. You can set the SD card recording to 4k but if you are trying to use 4k out to your atem mini pro, it may not pick it up.
Can you adjust the output resolution on the cameras? Atem highest resolution is 1080. Also adjust the FPS if you can. make sure your Atem is setup for the specific FPS your cameras are set to. Otherwise if your cameras fps is higher than the Atem it’ll be a black screen. I’m not familiar with Elgato cameras tho but that’s my experience with other cameras not working.
@@Ministry-Hacks the atem mini doesn’t power the camera. I looked at some other videos online. I would have to get a cheap camera, mainly a aps-c camera in order to use it. The elgato are basically useless
Haha, whoops. Made this video primarily to address WHY we use the atem with OBS. Sorry if I didn’t give a full tutorial. Always gotta add the source 👍🏼
Hello! We’re a very small church, trying to livestream with all of the latest tech. Our main issue right now is audio coming from our Behringer x32 compact. We have no problem with audio from our computer (videos and mp3/4 files. I guess need help with getting the audio from the Behringer x32, through the ATEM mini pro, to the Facebook live stream. Currently it is silent, even though the ATEM shows volume levels. I am also having issues with getting my Stream Deck MK.2 to control my PTZ Optics camera angles. I’ve been trying to figure this mess out for about a year and I’ve reached my limit. Help!
Thanks for reaching out! I am part of a small church as well so I totally understand trying to figure everything out. It's hard to say what exactly you need. But I guess let me start by asking what audio levels are you seeing in the ATEM and what is connected that is giving it audio?
We run a long xlr to 3.5mm from our Midas MR18. From one of the AUX outputs on the Midas to the mic input on the back of the ATEM. Make sure the mic button on the ATEM itself is set to on, or you will not have any audio. The audio you currently see coming through the ATEM may be the audio from the cameras if they have microphones built in. You can mute each camera angle individually on the ATEM. Once you have that setup, you should be able to control all the audio coming through the ATEM via your sound board by making a specific audio mix for the AUX or BUS output. We use the AUX outputs for several things. One goes to the monitor for worship, which we create a custom mix for the worship leaders. Then we have one for livestream which is also custom for livestream. And we use one other mix that goes to a speaker at our front door which we also create a custom mix for. I hope some of this helps. Its hard to diagnose without seeing it, but it is do able. Don't give up!
I googled the Behringer x32 compact. You should be able to run a cable from one of the xlr outputs or one of the 1/4 aux outputs to your ATEM. You just have to make sure that channel is unmuted on the Behringer and unmuted on the ATEM.
