I paused it at 9:40, what a shot! The GE locomotive coming down the tracks, American flags in the background, lining the street, and storm clouds looming in the distance! As always, love the video!
Great video. I’m surprised that with that storm and the apparent wall cloud and circulation that a funnel would be dropping down. Thank God it didn’t. Just loved the shots of that military train. Enjoyed the video. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
Wind shear and helicity were not sufficiently strong to enhance the circulation and increase the potential for a tornado, but it was impressive even without it. The military train had quite interesting loads and he was huge. Thanks! Great you enjoyed the video.
This is a very good Weather Channel video, congratulations. :) I'm surprised there was no rain from those storm clouds. The UP locomotives are beautiful and the construction machines are fantastic too. I love the cool green excavators. That train was an exceptionally great catch. Another very entertaining video, thank you so much for this treasure.
The lack of rain at the time of filming fit perfectly into the picture as part of the storm's evolution, because I was located in what experts call the clear slot (usually on the left side of the wall cloud). Major rain and potentially, hail, happens in the front of the storm (in the direction of motion to the right), behind the wall cloud (in some angles the curtain of rain is actually visible). Then there is the downdraft to the left, which eventually wraps around the wall cloud if there's circulation. The so-called rear-flank downdraft is accompanied by a lot of rain and strong wind gusts. It hit me immediately after the shots (anticipating it, I was already in my car so I didn't film it). That's the complete story :)
I never saw a military train with a DPU on this line before either. The storm looked amazing. Pictures can only tell as much. I was happy to be in the right spot - no rain at this time. Thanks!
Excellent video! Telephoto shots (depth compression), useful sound, informative captions, some chasing, great editing, and no distracting voice-over. Thank you! I'll be back.
Thanks! I would think they have sirens. Tornadoes are not unheard of here, although they occur more commonly toward central and south Georgia and east/northeast in the direction of North and South Carolina.
Hats off to you my friend. Wonderful video. Could watch this kind of action all day. Very relaxing and interesting at the same time. Thanks for sharing! . Stay healthy!
Size of trains is no problem, thanks DPU. You only have to make sure, that other trains are out of the way.But that is the task of the dispatcher..Many greetings from Germany, our freight trains are up to 800 meters long...Or otherwise : the UP takes a train, we need four for the same transport, despite restrictions of load size and weight..
Haha, I do, too, for my yard. I was dry until the rear-flank downdraft of the thunderstorm hit me with rain and gusts, but that was after the Loram train went by, so I was quickly back in the car.
Nice video sir!! Cool shots and catches sir!! Keep up the great work sir!! My NS Heritage unit success continues with 8114 leading again today it’s leading manifest 168!! Keep up the great work sir!!
Excellent video and editing. Exceptional work. I really enjoyed it. I have seen long military trains before. Always wondered what it takes to unload all of that, and who has all the keys!!
What a complicated thing to decide to do. That's like one of those questions in school books; "you need to switch one car from the front of a train to the back, with only a single track and a siding. How do you do it?"
Haha, indeed. I'm always surprised how time-consuming these little tasks are. I cut the scene as short as it is was reasonable for the video, but in reality it took much, much longer.
Don't be grumpy lol :) Producing quality videos takes time (at least 8 hours for one). I only accelerated this one because I was particularly excited about the storm footage.
Always a pleasure to see one of your videos. I've always liked thunderstorms, they are destructive at times, but a magnificent display of power that is impressive. I've noticed in your latest videos that the feed mill at Howie siding seems to have few cars spotted in their yard. Is it just a slow down in business, maybe?
Thank you so much! It was magnificent to watch the the storm evolving. As always, it's much more impressive in reality than a video can tell. There has been no change at the feed mill I think. It is served by a long-distance train (the "grain express") that comes in every other week or so and a local train that goes there almost every day. Usually, the latter has only a few grain cars.
Tornado sirens sound differently and are much louder. Whereas there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, it never got upgraded to a Tornado Warning. The rear unit of the ballast cleaner certainly wasn't supposed to make noise while the train was just moving and not working, but it somehow did :)
Yeah, it was also one of the biggest for me. These were all construction vehicles going to the port of Charleston. I suppose it's an engineering unit that builds/updates a base somewhere overseas.

I know, I know... This is one of my favorite shots in the video. It was nice, Colbert had already flagged their town for Memorial Day.

I love the CSX walkie talkie radio Transmissions. Sound like police radio Transmissions.
Very cool military train.never saw one with a DPU.Think i would've been seeking shelter from that wicked looking storm! Enjoyed the video!

Thanks and cool you like this video style! Keep watching.
Great catches! Good thing if Colbert has an outdoor warning siren just in case tornadoes actually do form.
Thanks! I would think they have sirens. Tornadoes are not unheard of here, although they occur more commonly toward central and south Georgia and east/northeast in the direction of North and South Carolina.
Great video you have the best train videos on TH-cam..Thats why i like to watch your train videos.. And the weather reporting was not bad either..
Awesome, thanks! Great you liked the special weather report as well :)
Thats what I call multitasking...storm and train chasing!
Lol, I know!
Hats off to you my friend. Wonderful video. Could watch this kind of action all day. Very relaxing and interesting at the same time.

Cool, thanks! The storm was impressive. It was great I could get some footage of it. Stay safe, too!

Greetings back! I'm familiar with the trains in Germany and know what you're talking about. Trains are huge here in comparison.
Typical Ga afternoon weather. (Former resident)
Yep!
Love all your videos and pictures train horn nice loud
Thanks so much!
Amazing storm footage! Loram ballast cleaner is a first for me :)
Thanks, great you liked it! There must be a nest of those here; I already caught SBC-2402 on this line a few months ago.
i like to see the military trains ,you did a good video of the whole lot ,thanks
Thanks, great you enjoyed it!
W812 was impressive! Thanks for sharing...
You're welcome!
some wild looking sky, Great video
It was fun! Thanks.
Excellent footage my friend, geeps, caboose and cool weather formations 👍👍nice
Thanks! It was a nice combination of events and it never got boring.
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there.
Great you enjoyed it!
Yeah, the Military train is interesting... I wonder what "service" it's heading for???
9:18 it's that crossing that randomly turns off the lights for a second!
Very good with the storm structure and shots of the trains!
Yea, this looks strange. I don't know what mode it is operating in. Cool, thanks!
Uu
I saw that military train up here in Memphis, was nice to see 😄
Indeed, he looked impressive. Nice you also caught him!
mbmars01 that train is hauling heavy
TY
YW :)
Awesome shots! The GP38-2 #2624 on A752 should still have its RS5T-RRO. PLEASE get some shots if you can.
Oh okay, I didn't know that. Well, if the GP38-2 stays on our local I'll keep an eye on it once I see it again.
Excellent!!! Don't need to say anything more. Can't wait for your next video.
Thanks so much! I'm very happy you enjoy the videos here. Just keep watching. It's people like you who keep this channel alive :)
@@mbmars01 Can't wait. 😎😎😎
That looked potentially nasty. Great to get new hoots n toots and ding dongs n clackatie clacks!! Thanks bud. That was a long long train
Yea, but I found this storm quite impressive actually. I know, the sounds of the trains are a great part of the videos. Love it, too!
I could use some of that equipment. I hope you stayed dry. Great work. Excellent video.
Haha, I do, too, for my yard. I was dry until the rear-flank downdraft of the thunderstorm hit me with rain and gusts, but that was after the Loram train went by, so I was quickly back in the car.
That's awesome bruh that shoulder ballast has a serine on it....I seen a lorm rail grinder has a serine on it too
It was a very strange sound. I don't think I've ever heard it before.
I wish we could get this kind of weather out west. Man when winter is over it's over here.
Haha, I guess most people prefer not to be exposed to these mighty storms. They are actually not very frequently here, too, at least not supercells.
Nice video sir!! Cool shots and catches sir!! Keep up the great work sir!! My NS Heritage unit success continues with 8114 leading again today it’s leading manifest 168!! Keep up the great work sir!!
Very cool! The NS heritage program is nice, but in one of the upcoming videos you'll see true heritage units... :)
mbmars01 alright cool look forward to seeing it!!
Excellent video and editing. Exceptional work. I really enjoyed it. I have seen long military trains before. Always wondered what it takes to unload all of that, and who has all the keys!!
Many thanks! Great you enjoyed it. Haha, that's a good question :)
nice , i love your train videos so thats why i would visit this channel to see trains , keep those good train videos running up and on time
Thanks! Yea, I'll try to schedule - provided the railroads do their job as well :)
Another great video thanks.
You're welcome!
That one crossing gate blinks out/malfunctions twice on 582.
Great video! It’s crazy to think I missed all of those rare trains by one day lol
Thanks! Sorry to hear that. the military train was very interesting. First time I saw one with a DPU here on this line.
I was the guy next to you in Comer, nice video!!
Haha, very cool. Since you stood behind me and left before the train was gone, I could only get a glimpse of you :) Thanks!
mbmars01 Yep I was chasing it south. No problem
Love the CSX trains, keep the good videos up!
Thanks, I'll try :)

Awesome! The storm part was really somethin! I wish I had gotten that Loram.
Thanks!
@@mbmars01 e
Looks like a lot of water vapor coming out of the spitters on the lead geep
Yea, this was more than usual. Maybe a technical problem?
Awesome military trains and Caboose!
It was the first time I saw a military train with a DPU around here.
mbmars01 nice man I’ve never seen a military train!
Hope you'll see one some day. They are always fun to watch because of the many different loads.
mbmars01 indeed they are thank you!
@mbmars01 awesome video keep up the good work my friend
Thanks! Keep watching!
We got a meteorologist narrating this railfan vid !!!
Lol, sort of. In fact, I'm a scientist and have studied storms for a while.
Fantastic
Cool, thanks!
At least this was from a few days ago and not a few months ago
Don't be grumpy lol :) Producing quality videos takes time (at least 8 hours for one). I only accelerated this one because I was particularly excited about the storm footage.
Maybe the car they put at the end was defective and was going to drop it off at another location for repairs. Just a guess ...
That was definitely a possible scenario.
it hit me to buy instead we had a tornado
Keep 'em coming!
Certainly will :)
Nice Video, I’ve never heard the phrase ‘railfanning’. I’m assuming it’s an American thing
Yes, it is an American thing; you call it trainspotting :)
It seems to me that the Abbeville sub sees a lot of DOD trains. Where is the Fort?
These trains are very random. There are forts, but most moves go to or come from ports on the East Coast I think.
Was there a tornado or cloud rotation?
It's all described in the video. No tornado, but there was rotation.
@@mbmars01 oh....ok thanks!
It is either clockwise or counterclockwise not anti-clockwise
Let's call it cyclonic or anticyclonic lol.
Ex RDG #3410 to open the show! Great video!
Yea, these CSX geeps are pretty cool. Thanks!

what was that siren for at the end of the loram ballast cleaner train for?
I think that was the town's tornado warning siren. I don't live near Tornado Alley so we don't have that level of precaution and thus it's a guess.
I don't know. In the first split second I thought the tornado sirens came on until I noticed that the train made this noise.
Tornado sirens sound differently and are much louder. Whereas there was a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, it never got upgraded to a Tornado Warning. The rear unit of the ballast cleaner certainly wasn't supposed to make noise while the train was just moving and not working, but it somehow did :)
who else heard the siren at 8:26
Dang. I've never seen a train carrying so many military vehicles. Now I know where my tax money is going. Are these things even used?
Yeah, it was also one of the biggest for me. These were all construction vehicles going to the port of Charleston. I suppose it's an engineering unit that builds/updates a base somewhere overseas.
2:56 ear rape warning
Quick lol
