When my dad met my wife over 40 years ago he said, "You had better marry her because you won't find another one like her." We have a far better home than my parents and her parents. My wife told me a long time ago that the one thing she saw in me was that I was a leader. My wife wants me to lead. I am a very fortunate man to have such a great wife. She is the kindest woman I have ever met. She is better than excellent. She is a very intelligent woman who is quite humble. I have a wife who is always learning about others. Many times she has been mistaken as my daughter. when I look at her and all she bring I know I am a very fortunate man to have such a classy wife. She is not just my wife but I think of her as my bride. She does all she can to help me in so many things. She hardly weighs over 100 pounds and helps me with physical labor. She helped me build the house we live in.
I think it's important to know how much respect she has showed to your FATHER for living up to his insight. You're a lucky man, she's probably doing okay too!
@@kevindunlap5525 Her mom was excellent, but her dad was a nice man but not a leader. It took her a long time to get past feeling like a failure because her dad never set boundaries good or bad. He never led. There was very little affirmation by her dad. Nothing that was said was every good or bad. They simply ignored anything that might cause disagreement. She told me she wanted to marry a man who was a leader. The problem was she had not experienced a dad who led. I am a leader and so that came with its issues. I learned to be patient and believe the best in her. So over the years we have learned and it has has paid off well. She loves it that I lead and she enjoys being in the supportive role. People see that all the time in her. She is a tremendous example to others. I wish every young lady could be around her. All the time my wife tells me how grateful she is for me and the house we built. I wish every man had a wife like mine. We did not start perfect but we were in it for the long haul. I watched Friday's broadcast, and I was also deeply impacted by that young lady who felt some kind of way for being asked to smile. The disconnect is real and it transcends all kinds of women across the board unfortunately. As a black man I always thought it was just me and my inablility to really get those high 8s and 9s was because I believed that there was something that I lackedor . eg. not tall enough, not rich enough, etc. What I now realized was that I was being saved from those train wrecks in the long run, and I found out that alot of those women didn't fair well in the long run. They look worn down, out of shape, and just plain broken. Plus, they either never married ,but had a bunch of kids or too committed to their so called careers . I'm in the same age range as KS. I have spoken to girl friends about their attraction to dramatic relationships. If he’s not in the streets and cursing them out he’s a square and boring. Smh. I will take my perceived “boring” marriage of 14 yrs any day. We have very little drama but we have a great time together traveling, having date nights and encouraging independent growth of each other. It is important for our children to live in a household where they witness parents who respect each other and they see me move as a mother, wife and individual. And a man who moves as a husband, father and individual. We planned out how our relationship is to progress and we work the plan. I had drama in my youth and was raised with abuse so I’ve done a ton of work to move past that and I think many people need therapy and self awareness to change. I love seeing productive families and I pray open discussions can lead to more of that. Doesn’t matter if you agree with all of Kevin’s perspective but the core of his argument can’t be denied. We have to do better for each other.

My great grandmother, my grandmother and my aunt give poor advice on men. Both my grandmother and my aunt hate men and they always say “men ain’t shit” I think that they’re bitter honestly. My grandmother uses men for monetary gain. My mom has been in and out of relationships since her and my dad have been divorced so I don’t think she has enough wisdom to give me to be a wife bc she hasn’t been one in about 10 * years I want to say. My father on the other hand got remarried and they have been married for 9 years going on ten in September I believe. I agree that older women give younger women poor advice or always have a negative input on me and sisters relationships. My sister is married and it’s been about 5 years now. She has had babies almost every year since then and my mom thinks my bro n law is manipulating her and trying to “keep her down” which to some extent seems to be the case but we’re all on the outside looking in. I think there’s a sense of jealousy when it comes to my sister’s marriage. I don’t listen to my mom anymore bc she hasn’t taken her own advice. My god mother is I think 56 and she’s been married and is in the process of remarrying but she always gives me good wisdom. She cooks, she cleans, she’s peaceful and i would rather mimic that then mimic a woman who is combative & disrespectful to the men in her life. When someone tells you they " Love you" it means loyalty, harmony, honesty, respect, unselfishness, trust, responsibility, and emotion etc. A healthy relationship weather it's romantic, brotherly, or friendly, is when each person is allowed room to grow, unjudged, and still loved.
To love someone is to know someone very well, to the point of unconstitutionally staying with them for life. Most people who get married don't really know their mate that well in the beginning. It is more physical attraction, several positive shared memories, some known common beliefs and financial practicality that lead people from dating to marriage. But this isn't really love yet because once people hit the 3 yr, 7 yr, 10 yr mark, they fall off and divorce often happens. Love is unconstitutional, but divorce proves that marriage is conditional, so one could argue divorce proves love was never there. That's why we have to be careful confusing love with the decision to marry.

I have been an honored guest at a traditional Samburo wedding in Nairobi. The dowry, or the matter of the goats, was a long negotiated bride price paid to the bride's family to compensate them over the lost value of her labor. More realistically, it was used to help pay for the wedding and better set up the newlyweds. In pre ceremony, the community of ladies got together to sing out the bride, meanwhile the best man had to sneak in backdoor and present an envelope to bride's daddy, not sure what that meant. Then as bride was being sung out of home, a younger brother followed with a suitcase, and bride's mother followed with a broom sweeping the porch. This was a very visual representation of the bride would not be welcome in trying to return home. The bride was then escorted and joined by the groom's mother. On a very fundamental level this represented that the authority of the bride was being transfered, and the new ultimate arbitrator of any domestic disputes will from now on be the groom's mother. While this was a very modern and rich African family, all five children attended US colleges. There traditions were highly valued, and from an outsiders perspective I easily see how much value they add to the community. Western culture has lost so much of the framework that once made marriages strong.

Same here. I use to always have fat obese relatives telling me I’m too thin. Now if I were to say they’re too big or fat, my family would have got on me about it. My size has always been a contributing factor in my ability to attract men from all races.

She is the kindest woman I have ever met. She is better than excellent. She is a very intelligent woman who is quite humble. I have a wife who is always learning about others. Many times she has been mistaken as my daughter. when I look at her and all she bring I know I am a very fortunate man to have such a classy wife. He never led. There was very little affirmation by her dad. Nothing that was said was every good or bad. They simply ignored anything that might cause disagreement. She told me she wanted to marry a man who was a leader. The problem was she had not experienced a dad who led. I am a leader and so that came with its issues. I learned to be patient and believe the best in her. So over the years we have learned and it has has paid off well. She loves it that I lead and she enjoys being in the supportive role. People see that all the time in her. She is a tremendous example to others. I wish every young lady could be around her. All the time my wife tells me how grateful she is for me and the house we built. I wish every man had a wife like mine. We did not start perfect but we were in it for the long haul. I have always said it is not so much where you start but how you finish.

As a black man I always thought it was just me and my inablility to really get those high 8s and 9s was because I believed that there was something that I lackedor . eg. not tall enough, not rich enough, etc. What I now realized was that I was being saved from those train wrecks in the long run, and I found out that alot of those women didn't fair well in the long run. They look worn down, out of shape, and just plain broken. Plus, they either never married ,but had a bunch of kids or too committed to their so called careers .

I have spoken to girl friends about their attraction to dramatic relationships. If he’s not in the streets and cursing them out he’s a square and boring. Smh. I will take my perceived “boring” marriage of 14 yrs any day. We have very little drama but we have a great time together traveling, having date nights and encouraging independent growth of each other. It is important for our children to live in a household where they witness parents who respect each other and they see me move as a mother, wife and individual. And a man who moves as a husband, father and individual. We planned out how our relationship is to progress and we work the plan. I had drama in my youth and was raised with abuse so I’ve done a ton of work to move past that and I think many people need therapy and self awareness to change. I love seeing productive families and I pray open discussions can lead to more of that. Doesn’t matter if you agree with all of Kevin’s perspective but the core of his argument can’t be denied. We have to do better for each other.

My mom has been in and out of relationships since her and my dad have been divorced so I don’t think she has enough wisdom to give me to be a wife bc she hasn’t been one in about 10 * years I want to say. My father on the other hand got remarried and they have been married for 9 years going on ten in September I believe. I agree that older women give younger women poor advice or always have a negative input on me and sisters relationships. My sister is married and it’s been about 5 years now. She has had babies almost every year since then and my mom thinks my bro n law is manipulating her and trying to “keep her down” which to some extent seems to be the case but we’re all on the outside looking in. I think there’s a sense of jealousy when it comes to my sister’s marriage. I don’t listen to my mom anymore bc she hasn’t taken her own advice. My god mother is I think 56 and she’s been married and is in the process of remarrying but she always gives me good wisdom. She cooks, she cleans, she’s peaceful and i would rather mimic that then mimic a woman who is combative & disrespectful to the men in her life. I could go on and on but I just wanted to point out the fact that it’s true that older women who are single give out poor advice to young women bc it’s coming from a bitter place

It is more physical attraction, several positive shared memories, some known common beliefs and financial practicality that lead people from dating to marriage.
But this isn't really love yet because once people hit the 3 yr, 7 yr, 10 yr mark, they fall off and divorce often happens. Love is unconstitutional, but divorce proves that marriage is conditional, so one could argue divorce proves love was never there. That's why we have to be careful confusing love with the decision to marry.
